On arrival, cleaner left a note to say "Jackie made your room sparkle today". But she didn't. It hadn't been hoovered - food crumbs all over the floor from previous guests. Then the room wasn't cleaned at all on our second day. Came back (at 1am) to find cleaner hadn't been in - bed unmade, the towels we left on the bathroom floor for cleaning were still there, so we had ot use them again, coffee/tea hadn't been topped up, the paper cups hadn't been replaced, so we had to re-use them too. Really annoying

We upgraded to historical room, smaller than usual but nice. Lack of decent hanging space for two people two nights, and paper cups disappointing but a great bed and lovely large windows. Good shower room. Very convenient for shops, bars and the theatre. Public areas very nice and comfortable.

Stayed here on a family trip to Newcastle recently and had a few reservations when i heard the name motel but i was so wrong. The hotel is tucked away right in the heart of the city, close to transport links and the best Newcastle has to offer in shops/ restaurants/ bars. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the reception area , very elegant and modern. The staff were lovely and got through the check in process quickly before directing is to our room. The room was clean and fresh and again excellent quality for the price we paid which was just £69 for the night, which was excellent value considering what we have paid in other hotels in the city. Couldn't fault Motel One and will definitely use again next time we are in Newcastle. Would definitely recommend

Fantastic location, helpful staff, great bar however rooms are small. We paid for an upgrade for a room with a queen size bed and historical view. The room was at the front of the hotel and the historical view was of the old roof of the building across the road.

A standard Motel One experience, in the very heart of Newcastle - fantastic location. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet despite the location. Great value for money. Staff welcoming and friendly; pleasant bar area where you can work or enjoy a drink in the evening.

Booked this hotel as we were in Newcastle for a concert. Centrally located and a short walk from the train station. Lovely decor and the rooms were very nice. Comfortable bed and pillows with tea and coffee supplied. Toiletries included and importantly a hairdryer! Staff were really nice. Overall I'd highly recommend this hotel as prices were also reasonable. Definitely would stay here again.

Brilliant boutique hotel for a budget price in an amazing location. Friendly staff, super clean and comfy rooms. Perfect for Theatre Royal which is just around the corner or The Stand which is an awesome comedy venue. Brilliant bars, pubs and restaurants near by too. Will definitely return.

We had a great stay at Motel One in Newcastle, especially considering the price which was cheap compared to other hotels of a similar standard in the city. The entrance and bar area felt really luxurious and I liked the Newcastle-specific decor. The room was really well designed and the large bed extremely comfortable. There were no noise issues inside but could hear a bit noise from a nearby bar/club in the evening. The member of staff working on reception was incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Hotel is well situated in town, it’s very clean and modern so no problems there. We were on the top floor (6th) and it was VERY hot in the room, all night. We had the air con on highest and the window open, which obviously let all the noise in on a busy Saturday night; to try and cool the room down, to no avail. Also, the pillows were just too big/full. I would say that is subjective, but my wife felt the same and she usually sleeps on two pillows at home. We both slept (badly) with no pillows. Due to the heat and the pillows I don’t think I would stay again. Pity really because everything was really great
