Stayed at The Holiday Inn overnight when visiting Birmingham for a shopping trip. The Location was perfect-just yards away from New Street Station and the Bull Ring Shopping Centre. The room was good (just as you'd expect with a Holiday Inn) Not particularly luxurious but perfectly adequate with the added bonus of a fridge in the room! The bed was...

I have previously reviews this hotel, which was generally positive. Unfortunately this time round isn't so great. The room I had wasn't a refurbished room. It was a room that had seen better days, with a really poor finish and not very pleasing to the eye. Actually, it was gross! The lifts were out of order, so getting to the...

Stayed for 2 nights at short notice to visit the local Children's Hospital. The reception and downstairs areas are really smartly turned out, unfortunately it pretty much ends there until you get to your room. The lift was seldom working, the other were boarded up - not sure why as no signage. That theme continues, no actual signage to the...

Having stayed in several hotels within Birmingham this has to be one of the best. Huge double bed, separate desk and seating area plus very attentive staff, fantastic breakfast and also very close to the main shopping area. A must for all business travels and sightseeing / short breaks.

One night stop-over whilst attending Billy Elliot (superb) Great location - 2 mins from main station. On arrival, told lift not working - not ideal for 8-month pregnant wife! 2 flights of stairs long, walk service lift, etc... Room was great size. Ironing board in room handy. Air con stayed at 25 even if you tried to change it. Far...

1. No parking £25 for dodgy NCP nearby. 2. I rang to say I need a room with a bath as I have both legs amputated. They gave me a room with a bath - up flights and flights of stairs and then a short trip in a service lift, then a long walk. OR I could do a long...

Ideal location for using the city centre, service was really good, a lot of noise during the night although ear plugs were provided free. Rooms well appointed and of a very generous size. Would stay there again

Just returned from this hotel after staying one night for theatre break. One night was enough, although the room was more than adequate the lack of lift other than service lift to reach the 7th floor was bad enough the constant noise from street level through out the night kept us awake. We have come away feeling exhausted. They really need to address...

This is one of those old, tired hotels which looks great in the pictures (nice new lobby) but the rooms themselves - at least the one we stayed in - are crap, with worn out bathroom fittings, and a splash of paint to not amounting to a 'renovation'. The staff are lovely, but how this place warrants 4**** is beyond...
