I have stayed at this hotel previously for weddings but this is the first time in around 15 years. The bedrooms are a little tired now and the room very warm. The bed was pushed up against a wall so hubby had to climb across me to get out of bed. I can imagine height of summer unbearably hot. Dinner was nice but breakfast we had to wait around 20 mins to be seated, it was buffet style and not particularly hot. There are some beautiful walks across the fields if this is your thing. It is a stunning setting but I should have just left my memories where they were in the past.

So the first thing to say - would I stay here again? Absolutely. The hotel is beautiful, the food is wonderful (if somewhat expensive) and the setting is fabulous. I stayed here for 1 night on business, so I cannot review the full hotel experience or the surrounding grounds at this time of year. However the check in process, the hotel staff, the decor and sense of high quality accommodation cannot be faulted at all. I have to give this a 4 star rating only due to some of the maintenance issues in the room I stayed in (Room 111). There is no doubt that while the room looks beautiful on the surface, there are some minor issues which need to be addressed. I suspect that most of this is simply due to the age and size of the hotel, so you cannot always expect perfection. As the attached pictures show though, some of the issues I identified were: - Decor, a few marks on the wall in places and some ripped wallpaper; shouldn't be too hard to fix - Radiator - the radiator has been upgraded to a digital thermostat so it was fantastic at being able to set the heat and the impact was felt immediately. However the dust down the middle of the radiator is very thick and really needs to be thoroughly cleaned. - Bathroom - the hot water tap cannot be properly turned off. It goes around all the way in both directions and at best, drips whatever you do to it. I did have to chuckle at the 'fix' to the toilet as well. There is a metal hood(?) which conceals the join between the cistern and the downpipe. This had fallen down but when I went to inspect it, found that someone had tried to hold it up by sellotape! Again, the presence of a plumber should be able to sort this out. My only final complaint was that my room was a double. It was quite clear lying on the bed that the double bed consisted of 2 singles pushed together. It was very comfortable but two twins does not a double make. So overall, a really nice stay and nothing that would ever put me off returning. Just a little bit of TLC and the attendance of a plumber would easily put this at 5 stars but I would certainly love to return (at least when the weather is nice).

Stunning hotel, excellent friendly staff from reception to the restaurant /bar. Exceptional evening meal .quality ingredients beautiful presentation . Perfect place to stay and visit Illuminate in the park and grounds The negative only small BUT The cosy double room is a smaller size room but has everything you need but it’s not a double bed…It has a 3/4 size bed. If you are on the larger size this wouldn't be a comfortable nights sleep. This size bed needs to be placed in the main description .

As a group of five friends, we visited Coombe Abbey yesterday for their first Festive Afternoon Tea with Carols of the season. It was perfect in every way. The food was great the venue beautiful, the singers were incredible and the staff were very warm, welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Two of us had special dietary needs which was dealt with very well. Would highly recommend this event.

What an amazing place! Walking from the car park and seeing the abbey there is nothing else to say other than WOW! Check in was friendly and efficient. We then went to our room and once again there is nothing to say other than WOW! We stayed in the chamberlain with a huge 4 poster bed , spiral staircase in the room and a huge roll top bath! We had a lovely winters walk around the park followed by drinks in the bar. Thank you to the amazing bar tender Dan who kept our drink topped up all evening. Dinner was also amazing. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance even though very busy. Roberto looked after us well and a huge compliments to the chef as it was the best meal we had in so long! Breakfast the next morning was equally as good with a huge selection of alacarte and buffet items! Thank you to everybody at Coombe we will be back soon!

We stayed overnight as 2 couples attending a Medieval Banquet in rooms 62 & 63 which were ground floor rooms. Initially the hotel is very impressive as you approach. There is a short walk from the car park including cobbled stones over the bridge. The reception area is breathtaking. The check in was slow but steady, reception staff welcoming and friendly. We were shown to our rooms which were situated out of the main building but nearer to the banquet venue. In the main building there is a lift. The rooms are spacious but a little tired with regard to finishing touches. The medieval banquet was thoroughly enjoyable, a quarter of guests chose the fancy dress option all looking amazing. The walk to the actual dining area has cobbles and is lit dimly to enhance the atmosphere but there are staff on hand if you have difficulties. The entertainment was outstanding with a variety of songs and stage acts. The food & drink were plentiful. A really enjoyable experience. The beds were very high doubles, comfortable mattress with soft pillows. A variety of beverages were available with a packet of biscuits. Toiletries (body wash/shampoo) in bathroom via wall dispensers. The hotel itself is very ornate and beautiful, a real escape. Breakfast was a buffet with every option available including complimentary prosecco. Hot & cold food. Tea/coffee pots brought to table. The staff all work hard to ensure your having an enjoyable experience.

we were given a voucher for an afternoon tea which we booked for October Service was great to begin with but could not attract a waiter's attention after the food and tea was delivered to our table We only wanted hot water but really more tea should be offered as standard at a venue like this Otherwise the experience was very positive We enjoyed the food and choice of teas was excellent The surroundings were lovely too and we had a around the park and grounds. It's paid parking though but no issues with finding a space even though they were busy

We had a wedding so the room was booked by my niece to stay one night. Although I thought it’s over the price but you are paying for the type of hotel and scenery. But overall I enjoyed my stay. We had breakfast, it was good but for vegetarians I thought there was not much apart from mushrooms, beans and hash browns.
