We booked this venue, at fairly short notice, for my 80th meal celebration with family and a few friends as we couldn't find anywhere else, but it was very impressive!! The venue is very well presented, with lots of thought to the history of the building and loads of former Coventry Evening Telegraph paraphernalia and relics incorporated in the decor, which made it feel cosy with a 60s/70s atmosphere. The restaurant itself was lovely, with a roof light down the centre, and it isn't too big to be personal, or too small to be airy - just right! The menu was good, and the food was excellent - nobody moaned about anything!! And the service was superb, with no untimely waits (although we were all having a good chat and plenty to drink, so I couldn't actually say how long we waited!! But even that says a lot!!). We all went into the bar, both before, and after the meal, and it was weirdly like two different bars, as it was relaxed in the day, and then busy and bustling at night, and other than being very pricey (which you should expect of this sort of venue!), the drinks were brill, and they even serve some Coventry made drinks, which was an extra bonus!!! The rooms were superb, well presented, extremely clean, and continued the Telegraph theme with 60s/70s features in keeping with the rest of the hotel, and some of us also had rooms that opened onto the Winter Gardens, with linked 'balconies', which is a really nice touch. Everybody enjoyed their stay, and all-in-all, we had a great time. Thanks to all of the staff at this wonderful, and very individual establishment, and particularly to Lynne, who helped me to book it all and ensure that I had not missed anything. We will definitely be using this venue again!!! :)

Enjoyed my stay at the Telegraph Hotel. They serve a delicious GF breakfast and GF fish and chips. The staff are polite and friendly. I would definitely return and stay here again. The hotel is conveniently located in the centre of town and about 30 mins from the NEC which was the purpose of my visit.

Yes, rooms and breakfast are decent, BUT very dull reception area and unwelcoming staff, who seem to have been recruited from a local prison and treat their guests like criminals!  This in my view is not a 4 star standard as the guest experience should be taken into account.  I'll explain:  I planned to stay in this hotel for a Business trip in March 2024.  My company booked the room in advance with pre-payment, using the company credit card and the amount was debited 2 months prior to my stay.  When I arrived, I was however REFUSED check-in, on the grounds that I didn't have the company card with me, even though the room had already been paid and settled!  The staff attitude was completely unacceptable for a 4 star hotel, making the guest feel like a criminal, as they explained that they had too many guests leaving without paying!  They explained also that it was their agent's mistake to accept company payment, even though I never went through an agent and paid directly on the hotel website!  At the end, they refused any argument and made me pay for the room AGAIN, using my personal card and re-credited my company card.  No excuse, no offer of a drink or anything welcoming from the staff and also nowhere in my confirmation did it mention I needed to show the card used for payment!  The staff were stricto-rigid, as if I was a criminal, which made me feel completely out of place!  This experience spoilt completely my whole stay.  When I came to check-out, I even got another story from the prison staff.  Thy told me that payment was never taken for the room as the name of the guest and the name on the card did not correspond.  Of course, it's a company business card!  Is it the first time this hotel deals with business?!!!  They also said that my company received an email saying payment was not taken, which is completely incorrect as no mail was ever received.  Lack of communication with their check-in colleagues who re-credited the card!!! Anyway, I obviously will NOT EVER stay in this hotel again and would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone!  I come from an International Hospitality Management school and may use this as a case study with students, so that they learn how not to run a hotel. I also regret not having booked at the Premier Inn just across the road.  It's not a 4 star but at least, they treat their guest decently!

Extremely comfortable bed and pillows OK. Need to be checked. Room was lovely, very spacious and great shower. Coffee and tea making facilities but 2 milks per person woefully inadequate. Reception staff amazing and dining room staff efficient and very pleasant. Breakfast amazing choice and quality. Location in the city centre.Highly recommend.

From the moment you step through the original doors, you step back in time to when you could hear the printing presses of the Coventry Evening Telegraph. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious with plenty of space to move around with an inviting hospitality tray and customised mugs. A Nespresso machine and a choice of teas and hot chocolate available. The shower room is beautifully designed with good water pressure and temperature. There is a small table at which to enjoy room service offerings and plenty of workspace and super fast Wi-Fi. The bar staff were friendly and some of the cocktails had a fabulous Coventry theme and there is merchandise to purchase for those who wish to remember the architecture of Coventry. The bed was comfortable and the sheets felt luxurious to aid a great night’s sleep. This hotel is in the centre of Coventry on major bus routes and easily accessible by a short taxi journey to and from the station. You are well placed to explore the city centre and there are many leaflets about the nightlife available. This hotel provided a lovely trip down memory lane of when this publication was the lifeblood of the city. It is wonderful that the building has been preserved and the feeling of the 1950s/60s has been maintained within the walls. This is a hotel experience I shall not forget.

Pleasant, comfortable hotel, I had a nice warm room. I booked in advance for the special rate inclusive of breakfast and dinner. The food was tasty and well cooked. After my meal the waitress followed me to the lift asking for payment for the side dish and glass of wine I had with dinner, despite reminding her I was staying 2 nights she said "I had to pay immediately" which made me feel embarrassed and put me off the hotel. This hotel is in the city, it costs £21.00 to park in the NCP for two nights and I got soaked walking to the hotel with my bags in the rain, there's no disabled parking. The hotel is well maintained, quiet and relaxing, but I'm afraid I will not return.

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for taking the time to complete a review for us – We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. Your kind words have been shared with all. Sorry if the team asked you to pay, we do ask guests on arrival if they want to arrange an extra's account instead of settling each time as then guests can charge to a room account. Sorry if this was not made clear to you. Thank so much for your comments, all feedback is greatly welcome as it allows us to review and make changes where necessary. We love this hotel and have stayed a few times. It’s spotlessly clean. The beds are comfy and the rooms are spacious. Great showers. The bar in the lobby has cozy seats and the rooftop bar is great fun in warmer months. We visit Coventry for the sheer pleasure of staying in this hotel.

Myself along with friends and family stayed at the hotel for two nights as I had my book launch event here. We chose this hotel as it is synonymous for Coventry. Everything about the weekend was amazing, the staff are so attentive and truly the best. The food was excellent, especially the breakfast. I honestly can not recommend this hotel enough. If you are thinking of visiting Coventry and staying here or looking to hold an event here, do it, you will not regret it. Thank you to everybody who made this book launch an even better success than I thought it would be !

We stayed here on a Sunday night and paid £67 for a no window room. It was a beautiful room. Well decorated, spacious with a big bathroom too. It was quiet overnight and the staff were very polite. We would definitely stay here again. For the same value as a Premier Inn - the quality was far superior.
