Dear me! Having stayed at 42 The Calls on several occasions this was truly disappointing. We were informed on arrival that we were staying on the last night before closing for a year, what we didn’t expect was the lack of attention to detail. One teabag and only decaf coffee on offer in the room. The room was fairly comfortable but shabby, the bathroom was as always very good. As a paying guests we did not expect to have breakfast with the staff the next morning it felt as if we were in the staff canteen! A dismal display of breakfast items was on offer, the butter tasted as if it had been out all night. The cooked breakfast was so under par , unbuttered toast for our poached eggs, the bread was of such poor quality is was inedible. It seemed that nobody cared that the hotel was still charging us as a 4 star hotel for below budget hotel standards.

stayed at the hotel a week ago and have to say it was great. room 307 was brilliant. managed to park right outside the front door which was lucky and the hotel is situated in what is obviously an upcoming area. excited to hear about the plans for a bar etc and will definitely be back.

Stayed for 1 night and wish it was more. Old converted mill with some features incorporated in decor. Friendly staff, comfy room overlooking the river, fab location with real ale bars and restaurants on your doorstep.

Amazing part of town and a quirky hotel but really disappointed with the decor and general dated and slightly grimy room. I stayed here 14 years ago and I think that may have been the last time it was decorated. The faux Victoriana bedroom and the grimy yellow aqua lisa shower (please clean the shower heads!!) were only slightly worse than the dirt around windows. Nice touch that the toiletries are white company but I didn’t want to use them as there was black slime round the bottle tops 😩 Polite receptionist but didn’t ask us how our stay was when we left, just “did you use the mini bar” .....eh no...... Towels and bathrobes fluffy and it was nice and warm but that was the extent of the good stuff Wouldn’t say again, better places to stay for the same price in Leeds.....come on The Calls, you could be amazing with a bit of love 💕

Dear LovelyLincolnshire, Thank you for visiting our hotel, we are sorry that your experience wasn't in line with our expectations, that said we really do appreciate your feedback. We were concerned to read your comments regarding the cleanliness in the bathroom of your room and we will certainly look in to this lapse in service. The hotel is closing on the 24th December for a full years refurbishment and we do hope that once completed we will be able to welcome you back. Kind Regards 42 The Calls Hotel Team

Great location, and nice building, but fixtures& fittings are quite shabby (particularly in our bathroom) and some incongruous ‘modern’ elements of the decor aren’t very tasteful. However, the bed was comfortable and the place was quiet. The additional £50 deposit was a bit of a surprise, and an extra hassle to ensure it had been returned in the days following our stay. The cost wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t a luxurious stay. The hotel had a very B&B vibe (decor, facilities, and staff). Not a bad thing but worth noting: the bedroom doors don’t self-lock (something we hadn’t realised we were so used to until it wasn’t the case), so make sure to lock your door deliberately.

Lovely clean hotel, premium quality rooms at a very reasonable price. Comfy bed and very quiet rooms. Lovely bathroom with clean and well appointed facilities. Room service menu looks great but isn’t 24/7 as advertised. Only small items available at all hours. Good location near city centre with a great view of the river.

We stayed there for a corporate night out, the hotel overall was nice. big room. nice bathroom. however i think its frustrating there is no plugs located near the mirrors for doing your hair, i had to stretch the curler as far as it would go and it made it really difficult. the hotel was a little outdated and i ordered breakfast for 9:30 to my room but never got it and i left at 10am. ah well, it wasnt the worst stay ever.

Dear chloejm1993, Thank you for taking the time out to provide us with a review of your stay. Despite finding us nice overall, we were concerned to read you comments regarding the breakfast that was to be delivered to your room and please accept our apologies that you did not receive this. It is very odd that this was not delivered to the hatch located at the side of your door and had we been aware we would have checked any delay with the kitchen for you. Our full years refurbishment is taking place in late December 2019 and we will certainly be looking at every detail down to the location of plug sockets. We do hope that we will be able to welcome you to the hotel at some point in the future. Kind regards 42 The Calls Hotel Team

Stayed just one night for business. Receptionist was very stern and asked for £50 deposit of each of us before letting go of the key. As we had booked this via our company we were not aware of this requirement nor was it on the confirmation docs. My colleague had no card and only a small amount of cash but it was clear that no exceptions were going to be made even though we were 3 x 50+ Ladies and unlikely to trash a room or drink the highly expensive room bar dry and 2 of us had already paid up. To add insult to injury I now have £100 “pending” on my account for “upto 5 days” Surley once you have completed the room change later that day it should be cleared. Room was tired and carpet disgustingly stained and dirty. No mirror anywhere near the dressing table. Sink smelt very funky every time the plug was let out. Bed very comfy though and view from window out to the river was nice. Breakfast was included and looked nice. Rain shower very good and hot Kindly let us leave our bags for the full day even after we checked out. Young man on night shift very friendly and sorted out shortbread biscuits that were missing from the rooms and an adapter to charge my phone. Thank you young man! Too expensive for the tiredness and grubby feel

Dear Mudorubio100, Thank you for visiting our hotel recently, we are sorry that your experience wasn't in line with our expectations, that said we really do appreciate your feedback. Please accept our apologies that in asking for the pre-authorisation you felt the receptionist came across stern, it is a standard procedure for all guest's, where they are to settle their own accounts, to provide a card for this on check in and this information is noted on the booking websites that we are advertised on as well as the confirmations. We do advise that the pre-authorisation can take up to 10 working days to release, especially when using a debit card. We will certainly investigate the areas you have mentioned in your room, obviously some are cosmetic which we are unable to change until our full year's refurbishment, commencing in late December 2019, has completed. Despite these issues we were glad that you found the bed comfortable and enjoyed the view from your room. Your message of thanks has been passed on to the nights team member that you have mentioned and he greatly appreciates your words. We do hope to welcome you back to the hotel once the refurbishment has been completed. Kind regards 42 The Calls Hotel Team

We have visited Leeds quite a few times and decided to give this hotel a try. We booked in to a guest complaining about their room - wobbled me having read some of the recent comments about rooms and service - however we found book in easy and the room clean, spacious and comfortable (no complaints to be had here). A great night in Leeds followed by a much need good night sleep in large and comfy double bed - thank you. I was going to write an great review - until check out!!! Having handed keys back and settled the small bar bill of a glass of wine - I realised that I had forgotten to sort the parking out. Oh my - the eye rolling and clear inconvenience that I had caused!!!! Huffing and puffing as though it was the end the world - there was no one behind us in the queue to check out. But... great location for our likes and a comfy stay. Just get your 'Guest Relations' staff to understand that the clue is in their job title!!!

Dear 571deborahr, Thank you for posting a review of your stay, we really appreciate your feedback. It was lovely to read that you had a comfortable stay and enjoyed a much needed good nights sleep. We were concerned to read your comments regarding check out as that is not the kind of customer service that we want or train to offer. We do hope that this will not deter you from staying with us again at some point in the future and please do contact us directly on your next visit to Leeds. Kind regards 42 The Calls Hotel Team

Had we not been booked into a restaurant on the evening we arrived, me and my girlfriend both agreed we would have happily stayed in our room all night and ordered room service. There’s a beautiful mix of new and old and it’s been done very tastefully. Lovely cosy feel with a view over the river. Nice big comfy bed, lovely seating area and big bathroom with a bath which is a rarity these days. The staff were fantastic and love the ‘honesty bar’ for drinks downstairs. Yes, the mini-fridge prices are a tad steep but under £70 for the room we paid for was a bargain which more than made up for it. Ideal for getting anyway in the city centre and will most definitely be booking again when we’re next up in Leeds. Definitely worth a visit!
