wouldn’t recommend this place so many problems: -no soap - peeling wallpaper - mould and dents on walls - thin sheets - disturbed by other holiday go-ers several times throughout the night - thins walls - don’t feel safe - doors don’t feel secure - dated rooms - outside area wasn’t cared for so didn’t give a good impression - the woman who runs the place was very rude and complained and rang several times when we were driving about what’s your to arrive, when we had been told we could check in between 11am-10pm - the woman also had no reminders about paying cash which lead to an hour long hunt for a cash point which she directed us wrong in as well - overall not worth the £80 stay should be more like £30 if that

I was hoping to stay here. Was dropping my son at uni. The room was clean and comfortable. Lady that met me was very pleasant. Unfortunately there was a chap who spat as he came out of the front door with his bike and I think was worse for-wear with alcohol and started to ask if I was on my own, could we have dinner that night or the next and just made me feel very uncomfortable. I was in a ground floor room and travelling alone on this occasion and sat in the room for a while and just could not stay as I did not feel safe and comfortable following the chap at the door. Explained to the lady how I felt and left. I think this is more of a half way house than guest house.

Don’t really understand the bad reviews of this place, really nice people, easy to book, reasonable prices and nice rooms. Close to the university, easy parking for a large van, last minute availability.

The Glengarth is really close to the University of Leeds and is handy for visiting. There is a small car park and it is very easy to find. Nathan K was very helpful in making the booking. The room was spotless and there are the usual basic facilities you would expect - tea and coffee, wifi, TV, toiletries, and as I had to leave early, they accommodated an early breakfast for me. All for £40 overnight.

This isn't a hotel in my opinion since it doesn't have a reception and not all rooms have an ensuite bathroom. I booked a double room which was on the front of the house. The windows aren't very sound proof so you hear everyone standing at the crossing, till the wee hours of the morning, plus the traffic that whooshes past on the main road. You also hear people in the rooms next door and everywhere else. Our ensuite bathroom was so small we could barely manouvre, and my 6'2" son couldn't really use the shower. There is a small drive in front of the house, and my car got blocked in twice. It's just on the edge of Leeds Uni campus which is handy for interviews and open days. The people who run it are very nice but I won't be going back.

Room Tip: There are only 15 rooms. I wouldn't choose one on the front of the building.

We stayed when our originally booked hotel let us down last minuet. The owner was very accommodating and managed to squeeze us into a family room. Can not fault the owner..we were coming early to watch the cricket and he let us park in the car park from very early on. The room was large and clean and met our needs. Cannot comment on breakfast as we got up and off home but plenty were eating when we passed.

Dirty and uncomfortable. Parking is tight and if you are first in you will be blocked in. I requested a single room - when I arrived I was told it was not an en-suite I paid extra for this, thank goodness - the communal toilet was filthy and I would not have been able to use it. The term 'hotel' does not fit with what I saw in the single room. The shower was intermittent as either cold or too hot (dangerously so). The tiles in the shower still had the previous occupants hair all over them - yuk. The noise from the guests all night was terrible. I could here the person in the next room snoring. The bed was uncomfortable and there was no way to open the skylight. In the event of a fire the occupants of that single room would not have much chance.

Booked with the Avalon but got moved to the glengarth, it was a very pleasant stay, the staff were really nice. We had a double room and the room was a nice size and beds were comfy, free tea too. Only gripe really is the price, 70 for the night, breakfast was great which sorted my hangover right out 😊 would definitely stay again if I was to come to Leeds again

You know those times when you stay somewhere and think, "wow there's not a thing wrong with this place"? Well, this is the polar opposite. There's not a single thing RIGHT with it. Unbelievably rude staff, dark, dingy and small rooms which are all extortiantely priced, and a foul smell throughout the building. Don't pay to stay here, don't even stay here for free. If I had to choose between this place and a street corner, I'd ask you to point me to the nearest doorway and grab my sleeping bag. The bottom line? Utterly abysmal. 1/5 does not allow me to rate this place lowly enough to express my experience here. Avoid at all costs.

Booked for The Glengarth Hotel but on arrival we were moved to The Avalon which was just a bit further down the road. No explanation given for this? Friendly welcome. Initially when they mentioned the cooked breakfast, I asked what the veggie option was and was told "beans". I then asked if I could go to a supermarket and buy my own, but the manager then asked where they could buy them, and asked if Morrisons sold them, which I said I'm sure they did, and the next morning we had veggie sausages for breakfast :-). Am afraid, had it not been for the veggie sausages, the rating would have been 2 stars. The accommodation was tired and as soon as my partner came into the room he sneezed none stop for the first 10 minutes, and every day when we returned. The shower was also a bit tricky, went from skin searingly hot to cold with the slightest of touches! The curtains had dubious stains on them and the towels were only adequate. The hotel was about a 20 minute walk from the town centre, close to a student populated area. Good for the Brudenell Social Club, where we were lucky enough to see Suede! But quiet at night. Overall OK, but not sure worth the £60 per night price tag. Have stayed in better, cleaner places. Would not stay there again or recommend.
