The Crown and Cushion is a delightful pub with 8 en-suite rooms. It is pleasantly situated in Eton High Street, which is a stone's throw from Windsor. Situated in the picturesque setting of Eton High Street, we are surrounded by history. Dating back to the 1600’s, The Crown and Cushion has been an Inn since 1753. Just minutes walk from Windsor Castle and Eton College and a short drive away from various attractions including Legoland, Royal Ascot Racecourse and Cliveden House. Having recently been refurbished, The Crown and Cushion offers you good food and good accommodation at reasonable prices. We have eight en-suite rooms: 2 Kings, 5 Doubles and 1 compact double. Put up beds can be added if needed at no extra cost; please discuss this at time of booking. Continental and a full English breakfast is included. The building is full of character and is very quirky in places. Allegedly built from old ships timbers, some of the floors are wonky and lots of the floorboards are creaky – but that is what makes it charming! The rooms are situated over two floors so if you require a first floor room please mention at the time of booking and we will do our best. We have an unusual American theme and our aim is to make you feel as relaxed as possible and send you off happy whether you have just had a drink, meal or a whole night’s stay. There is an outside patio should you wish to eat or drink outside. All our food is available for takeaway if you don’t have time to stop or you want to eat at home. For our staying guests, parking is available on site but this is not unlimited and we therefore request that parking is allocated to one car per booking. We will try and accommodate any reasonable request from any of our customers so if you do have any special requirements then please just ask.
Lovely small hotel in walking distance to Castle, been there from the 1700’s so expect uneven floors and lots of steps but service is excellent, spotless rooms and great location. People are so so friendly and helpful- we were having internet/navigation issues and they went above and beyond to help us. Very food in the pub and nice outside garden. We would definitely stay again if we are in Windsor.

Cannot recommend this place enough! From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. We stayed in room three which was lovely, spacious, light and really quirky with the slanting floors and lovely little seating snug area which looks out over the high street. The bed was super comfortable. The ensuite was small but perfectly functional with big shower. We ate in the pub in the evening, food was really good value, generous portions and very tasty. Again the staff were so friendly. Location of the pub is perfect, 5 minute walk over the bridge into Windsor, and parking behind the hotel. Breakfast was included too and with good selection. The Crown and Cushion is a real little gem full of old creaky floorboard character and charm.

Booked this for hubby's birthday. Check in was good. The room was basic and clean. Shower room was a grotty, mould around the shower, no where to hang towels etc. The pillows were very thin, shutters didn't work, thin , cheap carpet with no underlay. The stairway was dusty and the carpet needs a good vacuum. Noise from above room was bad, creaking floorboards etc so no underlay obviously. Breakfast basic. We would not stay here again or recommend.

Stayed here whilst attending a function in Windsor, great location right on the footbridge into Windsor. A great pub, very busy and really nice bar staff especially the young Brazilian woman behind the bar. T he room was a little small but the bed was very comfortable and it was warm. A good shower was followed by a good cooked English breakfast, cleanly and perfectly cooked with your own bottle of orange juice and milk. Small car park at the rear so make sure you book in. The two ldies who served breakfast and did the cleaning too were just fantastic. Recommended.

Pros - Excellent location - Nice towels and bedding - Comfy bed - Room ready early - Parked car in car park well before check in time Cons - Dirty/dusty room and bathroom, to the point we didn’t unpack our things. - Smelly stairway (doggy) and the compartment which gave entry to our room and another stank of something like smoke and bleach. Enough to turn your stomach. - Inadequate blind and no curtain to cover single glazed window which meant a constant freezing draft, including onto our heads as we slept. - Blind was dirty and scruffy with mould - Lampshade ripped - Walls grubby with water marks, patchy paintwork, marks and scuffs - Woken up each morning around 6:30 to footsteps/banging/clattering in the room above, which we think must be the owners/landlords room. They have an enormous dog and it sounded like it was bounding around above. - Customer service non existent other than asking what we wanted for breakfast and bringing it to us. Nobody asked how our stay was over the 4 days we were there. The landlord never even said hello to us. This attitude made us feel unable to feedback regarding any issues. - Car park: we were boxed in on our first night and luckily did not need our car. On our second night we really struggled to park. 2 younger men from behind the bar helped us squish our car into a very questionable space. It was clear that friends had parked there for the World Cup game that evening. We spent the next few days worried about the car and it got covered in thick, sticky bird poo as we were under a tree. One of the barmen did offer to move his car but then didn’t see the need once we’d squished in elsewhere. His car was there the whole time, maybe the owner? Mixed review - Breakfast was basic: bread/toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit, tea/coffee, tiny amount of orange juice. Hot option to order. Fried breakfast very greasy. Bacon and sausage tasty. Scrambled egg, mushroom and tomato a bit bland. Veggie sausages would be a welcomed option. Would not stay again nor recommend to a friend. We booked this place for location and top rating on trip advisor. We really don’t understand how this place has such a good rating based on our above experience. The lack of cleanliness was our biggest issue and could be easily improved. …

Stayed Friday to Monday for my Birthday. We parked in the Hotel carpark which is free and a bonus and checking in was straight forward as well as logging into WiFi. Yes room rather small but just needed for sleeping in. The room had everything you would get in a 4 star Hotel and bottled water and biscuits a lovely addition. Only 5 TV channels but not a issues as here for sightseeing. The bed was comfortable and ensuite bathroom ok and a good size. On the Friday night went down for dinner and ordered chilli con carne and the Malaysian dish. Unfortunately both were dreadful and ate out for dinner after this. However the breakfast in particular the Full English was brilliant, the best l have tasted in a very long time. It was well made and presented and hot. The ingredients tasted fresh and good quality in particular the sausages. I can not fault the Breakfast and give it 100% as the highlight of my morning. Windsor is a great place to visit and the hotel is in a fabulous location as less than a 5 minute walk over the bridge to the Castle and River Thames. We booked in advance to visit the Castle and St George's Chapel and you see the burial place of the Queen as plaque already in place. Did the long walk which is 5 miles long from the Castle gates to a copper horse and rider. So only walked 2 and a half miles down and then turned round again. There are Security Staff at the Castle who can direct you on how to get to the long walk.Next day did the Hop on and Hop of Bus Tour which passes the Hotel and stops behind the hotel and did a River Thames cruise as you get a running commentary on both tours. Would definitely return to the hotel in the future and already missing the Full English. Thank you to Mr and Mrs and the large Dog for making my birthday extra special in your interesting Hotel.…

This is an old pub, good atmosphere. When we turned up, in our car, immediately behind another couple in their car, the land lord did appear quite grumpy, having said that we were very early, about 10.45am ish, he sternly told both couples that we had arrived well before the check in time. However he did allow us both to park for free as there was available space. (Note, the car park, while free, is small). The land lady had far more social skill, and was pleasant to speak to, and executed a really good breakfast. The bar staff were very helpful too. As it’s an old pub, as you would expect, the floors and stairs are not even, which adds to its charms. Having said that, everything that needed to be level, was level eg beds, toilets, shower etc. We were in room 6 (at the top), visiting Windsor for the weekend. The room was not big, however they don’t need to be, your room is for sleeping/resting. Summarising the pro’s and con’s….. Pros 1) Very centrally located - even has a Costa Coffee shop almost opposite 2) The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was awesome - hot and freshly cooked to order. Note, their evening meals are large and great value for money too. 3) Free car park - note, to park your car in a public car park in central Windsor costs around £20 per day Cons 1) The TV in the room was very small 2) Can’t think of anything else worth mentioning…. Yes the landlord was grouchy when we turned up, but we were very early, and everyone has off days. If we visit Windsor again, we would look to stay here again.…

Really impressed. If you're expecting 5 star quality with all the bells and whistles then this isn't for you. If you want a good honest B&B, with top breakfast, welcoming customer service, free parking and a decent room then look no further. We recieved a very warm welcome and the room had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again. Great VFM.

We enjoyed one night at the Crown & Cushion whilst conducting business in Windsor. Our room (No. 8) is at the top and accessed via some rather narrow stairs; for us, it required assistance to bring our bags up to the room. For a pub stay, it had everything one might need. Nothing particularly fancy but still, the regular hotel-type amenities. We found the room to be quite fun & unique as it sloped rather dramatically and we agreed that it was best experienced whilst sober. For history lovers, which we are, it was beautiful; the wall leading to the shower room looked to be original and could have dated back a few hundred years. Amazing. Breakfast was included in our price and consisted of Continental which was self-serve (cereals, toast, yogurt, etc) and/or full cooked-to-order which provided a good start for the day of lovely sausages, perfectly cooked eggs, orange juice, toast, coffee/tea and a broiled tomato... a modified Full English. Parking is safe & to the rear of the property with easy access to the pub. All in all, a unique & pleasant visit that we wouldn't hesitate to repeat.…

Stayed here with my wife and daughter and found it generally lovely. The room was pretty tiny but the location was great, just across the bridge from Windsor Castle and in a quieter part of the town. The pub itself had a lovely atmosphere, felt like a lot of locals frequented it. The breakfast was quite good and good portions too. Was particularly pleased with the staff service, unfailingly friendly and helpful. Very pleasant stay. Oh, and the stairs were delightfully wonky...
