It’s a hotel first and foremost. But it has no elevator and no where is that mentioned. I arrived after hours. It’s raining as usual. Trying to lug suitcases to the accommodation was difficult enough to then find the smallest lobby in the world and a small set of stairs to lug your suitcases up. On top of it we also had a mobilised wheel chair. Can’t leave stuff in the car because they don’t have parking which means it’s all left in public parking a 12 min walk in the rain away! They should say they don’t have elevators and people with mobility issues should stay. So we paid for a booking we couldn’t use and found ourselves searching for a hotel for several hours

What a great find for an overnight Windsor stay. Very centrally located, no parking but options available nearby. Arrived early to leave bags but our rooms were ready so we were able to check in. Rooms were spacious & comfortable with the usual amenities & a little seating area. As earlier reviews have mentioned there was some noise in the late/early hours but not enough to be a problem. We were able to leave bags while we pottered around on Sunday. There is no lift so stairs maybe a problem for some but the gentleman who seemed to do everything very kindly carried bags up for us on arrival which was much appreciated! Would stay here again without hesitation.

Stayed just the one night - two rooms - travelling with family to visit Windsor Castle. This accommodation totally met our needs. We were greeted by a friendly on site building manager /housekeeper/host/receptionist (a man of many talents!) who kindly checked us in an hour early. Both rooms were clean and extremely spacious - nice to have a dining table for takeout if required with spotless (and again large) bathrooms. It was a chilly weekend but rooms were quickly very warm and cosy once we turned on the electric heaters. Worth noting that there were also aircon units for summer use. It couldn’t be more centrally situated, tucked away on a small side street just steps from the Castle, High Street, and Royal Station shopping development. There is no on site parking but we went with the recommended King Edward V11 option about a ten minute walk out of town and reasonably priced at £10 per 24 hours. Nothing to fault beyond the fact that the other members of our party, whose room was at the end of the hotel closest to a neighbouring night, club did hear some noise but were not seriously disturbed. Two small but welcome additions to the room would be a fridge and coffee maker for which there is certainly space but this is a minor criticism. Also, just an observation - be aware this is not a traditional hotel with 24 hour reception. There is no reception as such but the friendly manager is there to admit and greet you between 9-5:30 pm (and he’ll happily look after your luggage during this period both before check-in and after checkout which is very helpful). Outside of those hours, access to the building is via key pad lock. We were initially a little nervous of this but it all worked well and was not a problem for us. In case of issues, there is an emergency out of hours phone number which is re-assuring. Self-service breakfast is available at a very reasonable price but can’t comment beyond that as didn’t take it. All in all, at the very reasonable price paid - we booked direct - this is highly recommended, excellent value accommodation for any Windsor stay and we’ll certainly be returning.

My room was spacious, warm and quiet whilst the breakfast was perfect for my needs - a choice of cereals, tea and coffee, toast and crossiants. The hotel is well located and literally a 10 second walk (yes, 10 seconds!) from the high street and a few minutes walk from Windsor castle. There’s no parking on site so I parked at Windsor Yards Shopping Centre which is a 5 minute walk away (all pedestrianised). I would def stay here again.

Thanks very much for a lovely review of Goswell House. For the benefit of other readers we also recommend parking at King Edward VII car park, which is 8 minutes’ walk away and free of charge from 9pm-9am and cheaper than Windsor Yards. Also our newly installed secondary glazing means we have managed to cut out 80% of external noise from nearby businesses so a more peaceful sleep is guaranteed. All the best!

My son and I stayed here for a night before a day trip to Legoland. It's very close to the train station and local amenities are plentiful. Tidy, clean room that was very comfortable, with a large bathroom. Staff were happy to hold our bags for us as we arrived before check-in time. A slight drawback was the noise outside, but I was expecting it due to its proximity to the high street. Some may have a problem with the lack of a reception but I called ahead to make sure someone was there to greet us, which they were in a very friendly and accommodating manner. I'll definitely be coming back should we ever visit WIndsor again.

Thanks very much for your review. Just to say that as of 8th February 2023 we have had new secondary glazing installed to all rooms on the first and second floors - this is a game-changer for the hotel as it reduces external noise by up to 80% and therefore rooms are now much more peaceful. Thanks again for staying. Hope you can come again!

For.. Great location Reasonable clean Bed ok Room great size Hall, lovely with character Provided ear plugs Against.. No reception.. any issues you have to call someone and if after 530pm, it’s just the call! If you want to change your booking while you have to do that before 530pm. For the quality it’s a bit over priced.

Thank you for taking the time to review Goswell House. We do read and take action where we can to improve our offering. As a small business we try to minimise our costs and therefore do not have a 24 hour reception however the hotel is always manned by staff that live on site and are on call as needed. We have also now had all rooms on the first and second floors fitted with acoustic secondary glazing to make the rooms more peaceful as they cut out up to 80% of external noise. This should offer an even better night's sleep and we hope that you will visit again to give it a try! All the very best.

Lovely place, clean and comfortable. Lovely character in the hallway. Breakfast room bright and airy. Bed was comfy and had lovely soft sheets. Bathroom was large and had a bath as well as a shower. Hotel itself was very quiet, we didn’t hear noise from inside at all but some noise from outside which is to be expected in this area. We like to have the window open but if the noise bothers you you can shut the window & use the air con. We stayed on a Mon & Tue night & I’d checked that the nightclub in close proximity was closed on those days so no noise from that. Staff very accommodating and happy to store baggage for you if you arrive before check in. They also made up bed and refreshed tea, coffee & towels which was an unexpected bonus. Breakfast was not really substantial enough. There were cereals, bread, croissants, yogurt and apple & bananas & plenty of spreads, tea & coffee. There was not a lot of bread & we couldn’t find extras. They ladies who came in after us had to make do with 1 slice of brown each. The price of the breakfast reflected this however for the same price you can have a full English in the Wetherspoons round the corner which we did the second day. The hotel also recommended other places for breakfast in the information they send to you and in the information pack in the room. Overall fantastic stay and I would definitely stay here again.

Quaint accommodations in a prime location for exploring Windsor. From the original booking experience until we got there and checked in, the staff were wonderful to deal with. Glad we found this hidden gem and would recommend to other travellers who are find with an "inn feel" and no main reception like we are. It was perfect for our stay and so close to the castle, pubs, train station and shopping. Loved it!

A quintessential English experience. Fab location, easy check-in/out, spacious, clean rooms - shockingly affordable for the amenities. Ours had a living room area, big bathroom and an exceptionally comfy bed. Right in the middle of everything: 1 minute walk to Windsor, Changing of the Guard, nearby great pubs, boutiques and dining. Will def be back.

Great location - until you try to get some sleep on a Friday night. It’s within a few yards of the entrance of a nightclub so there were groups of people shouting right outside my window until after 3am. The hotel had provided earplugs on the bedside table so they know it’s an issue. I still needed to bury my head under a pillow all night to drown out the noise. Maybe it’s fine earlier in the week, but be warned if you are staying at the weekend.
