The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel garners praise for its sparkling cleanliness and modern amenities, with guests appreciating the attentive housekeeping. While many guests commend the friendly staff and prime location near Windsor Castle, opinions on service and room quality vary.
Some guests express dissatisfaction with slow service and noise in rooms, yet others enjoy the comfortable atmosphere and stylish rooms. The hotel's river views and dining options are highlights, though debates on value and the need for updates in certain areas persist.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed two nights Friday & Saturday. Pre-booked parking through the hotel for £15 per night which gives you a space in a separate area of the station car park only a five minute walk away. Booked a signature room & were allocated the Eton room, a lovely suite overlooking the river with a small balcony. Huge bed. Two armchairs. Fridge. Coffee machine & kettle. Room only serviced at your request due to COVID but we didn’t mind this as only staying two nights. Great location right next to Windsor Eton foot bridge so easy access to both Windsor & Eton. Breakfast was lovely but it was served at the table & not a buffet again due to COVID & sometimes there was a breakdown in communication with the waiting staff who brought us marmalade instead of marmite & some things we requested never came but not such a big deal as they were busy. Only downside of having this room was it was very noisy outside most of the night with people shouting, talking, singing etc so remember to take some ear plugs as these are not provided by the hotel. Other than that, the hotel is very good despite the COVID restrictions being in place. We would definitely return.

Dear sarahbY1308IU Thank you for your extremely detailed and informative review of The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel. I am thrilled that you enjoyed your two night stay in the Eton Suite. I am pleased that we provided clean, well appointed, spacious accommodation with a lovely view, in a great location. Sadly Covid 19 has had a huge impact on hotels and how they operate, we can no longer offer our extensive buffet breakfast, this meal is now cooked to order and is a plated service. The safety of our guests and staff is of paramount importance, we strive to cut down on contact and exposure and so now bedrooms are only serviced upon request, not daily. I am delighted that despite so many restrictions and changes, that you enjoyed your two night break. We are extremely lucky to be the only riverside hotel in Windsor, and as you know we have lovely views of Eton Bridge. Most of Windsor's major attractions are only a short walk away, so we ae in the perfect location for enjoying all that this regal town has to offer. Despite some excessive noise from some boisterous locals, I am over the moon that you would choose to return to us, we are already looking forward to welcoming you back on your next trip and hope that we will be able to reintroduce many of our old service standards. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

Late review. We stayed here over a week ago for 2 nights. Place is spotlessly clean. Beds extremely comfortable. Large rooms. Close to everything Eton over the bridge close to the Castle and the River. We would stay here again without hesitation. Tip download the Ringo app for parking. Its only a couple of mintues from the hotel to the Railway Station Carpark we paid around 18 pounds for 2 nights

On average my wife and I visit this hotel 3 times a year for birthdays, anniversary and Christmas. Yet again service was faultless, with the staff always polite and attentive. The complex itself is quite large with rooms on both sides of the road, however wherever we have stayed the rooms are always clean, tidy and well stocked with their own hairdryers and ironing facilities. Although expensive at £15 a head, there is always plenty of choice at breakfast, which is tasty and filling. The location is excellent, in the heart of the town centre, and only 2 minutes from the castle and on the bank of the river. I would highly recommend this hotel, particularly for a couple having a romantic night away

Dear bobbC3359ES Thank you for reviewing The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel following your recent visit and for awarding us your top score. I am delighted to see that you are loyal patrons and that you and your wife visit us at least three times a year. I am pleased to note that once again, we did not disappoint. As you know, the hotel bedrooms are spilt across numerous buildings, some are on the other side of Thames Street, however, we are the only hotel situated on the River Thames in Windsor. We also benefit from being a short walk away from the town centre and Windsor Castle, so there is plenty to see and do! I am thrilled that we have constantly provided clean, tidy, well appointed accommodation, with a tasty breakfast and friendly, attentive service. Thank you for sharing your lovely comments. We are already looking forward to welcoming you back on your next trip. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

We booked this hotel mainly for its excellent location which meant we could experience Windsor quite easily. We paid the extra £15 per night for parking which was in the nearby main car park, but it seams we could have parked there for £5.50 per night anyway, a bit of a con really. We were checked in quickly and all Covid regulations we adequate throughout or stay. Our room was fine, the one let down being the fact that the windows should be triple glazed in order to lessen he loud noises created by waste collection lorries and street cleaning machinery which were in use very early in the morning. Breakfast was fine with a good choice. All members of staff were attentive and polite. The one incident which left a bad taste concerned items of clothing left by mistake in our room. Upon reaching home, I realised I had left 2 clean shirts and a pair of shorts in one of the drawers of our room. I contacted the hotel and they said they would check in their lost property to see what had been handed in by their staff who had already cleaned the room.
We waited over 4 hours before contacting them again only to be told nothin* had been found and were we sure we hadn’t brought them home with us ! They said they would check again but despite calling them back at 5pm, they on e again confirmed that nothin* had been found. We were not at all pleased with the way they were dealing with this matte4 and asked to speak to the manager. We were assured that the manager would contact us as soon as possible, needless to say we waited in vain with no call from anyone associated with management of the hotel. The following morning, my wife once again telephoned the hotel to complain and miraculously the items of clothing had been ‘located’ !!. The hotel then stated they would send them on to us and we paid the £5 fee for this service. I feel had we not been so persistent in insisting someone in the hotel was responsible for removing these items and knew exactly where they were, we would not have seen them again. We have received no apology whatsoever and whilst it was entirely my fault for leaving the items behind, the hotel were less than cooperative when dealing with this matter, suffice to say we would not stay at the hotel again due to some opportunist trying to keep the items of clothing hoping we would not follow up on their disappearance.

Dear Cosh2 Thank you for your extremely detailed review of the Sir Christopher Wren. I am delighted that loved Windsor, and chose the hotel for its unique location on the River Thames with views of Eton Bridge. I am pleased that we provided clean, well appointed accommodation with attentive polite service. I am glad that you appreciated our Covid safety measures. Belatedly, I can only apologise for the breakdown in our internal communication which resulted in you having to repeatedly chase the hotel regarding your lost property. The hotel does have a procedure in place to record guests lost property items, which are then stored in a secure area, by the Head Housekeeper. We deal with numerous lost property enquiries on a daily basis, our team should be able to quickly identify if items have been found as this is recorded on a computerised system. I am sorry that this was not your experience, I will certainly address this with the team, as it is a basic operating procedure. I am sorry that this incident has marred your overall experience. Thank you again for sharing your constructive comments. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

We stayed here last weekend, whilst enroute to stay with family.
The hotel itself was clean, the room, which was a Grand room, was overpriced for what it was.
We did not realise, that the room was in another building, and, accessed via steps, which were narrow not easy for those with mobility problems.
We requested to keep our room until 3pm, which was ok, at a cost of an extra £10.00 per hour after midday.
We booked for dinner which was nice, but, menu limited, restaurant staff pleasant and efficient.
Breakfast was good, with a varied choice.
The day of checkout, was where the problems began.
Having paid the extra £30.00 for late checkout, the cleaners just came straight into our room, at around 12.30pm, just as I was getting out of the shower, my husband managed to stop them from coming any further into the room, and told them that we had the room until 3pm.
Less than half an hour later, the cleaners were back, again opening the door and walking straight in, again my husband had to explain that we had the room until 3pm, and that they should not be coming in.
The look he received spoke volumes!
This was not the d of the matter though.
We could hear the cleaners outside our room, where they remained, we felt so uncomfortable, we decided to leave.
On exiting the room, there were 3 cleaners outside it, one sitting on the floor right by the door, on her mobile phone, the other 2 were standing next to her.
I did say hello, just to be polite, but, was met with a mumble and a scowl, clearly, we had inconvenienced them.
I tried to checkout in advance, online, as requested in the e mail I received that morning, which would also allow me to pay for any extras that we may have had, however, having gone through the process, the response I received was that I had already checked out, not the case at all, we had extended the room stay for late check out.
I did not know what I had or had not been charged for, so, had to queue at a very busy reception in order to clarify what I owed them.
This totally defeated the object of checking out online in order to minimise contact with staff and other customers.
The extras had been charged to my card, as it turned out, but, I was not given an itemised receipt, that was to be emailed to me, in the same way as the original booking details were.
No receipt was ever sent, had to contact them and request it.
I opted when booking yo have a £50.00 credit against the room, for extras, this has not shown up anywhere, and, do not know if it was taken or not!!
All in all the total cost of my 1 night stay was in excess of £365.00, which I certainly do not think was worth it.
Since returning home, I have repeatedly e mailed both the hotel directly and the central booking office in order to raise a complaint and discuss the issues, however, as yet, nobody has acknowledged me, let alone dealt with it.
Very disappointing all round.
I would certainly not recommend this hotel and, will not be returning there anytime soon.

I booked this as a treat for my best friends 50th as we were unable to be abroad as expected. I requested an upgrade following an email I received directly from the hotel the week before we travelled but was told the upgrade wasn’t available when we checked in. We arrived on the Friday and I asked about availability if we wanted to extend our stay for a second evening, I was told they had availability and would honour any online price as their direct price was considerably more. We already knew that the spa was closed due to COVID-19, the main reception was also shut and brasserie only open to hotel guests. The room was fine (a club room), not exceptional but the bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately there was no hot water to our room on Saturday morning but we had to get to breakfast which we’d had to pre-book in the hotel brasserie. A warm welcome to the restaurant, coffee was great but breakfast was hit and miss with things missing from the veggie and full English breakfast. By this point we’d decided not to extend our stay.
Great location but overall a little disappointing for the reputation and price.

Dear melodiep2013 Thank you for reviewing The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel, following your recent stay, for your best friends 50th birthday. It is always disappointing to receive negative feedback and I am sorry that some aspects of your stay failed to meet your expectations Sadly, due to Covid 19, the hotel is not fully operational, the Spa remains closed. We have also had to implement numerous changes to our operating procedures such as: a one way system, reduced menus, restricted opening hours, booked breakfast time slots, guests and staff wearing PPE, the list goes on. I am sorry if any of these had a negative impact on your stay. I am pleased that we provided comfortable, Club accommodation with friendly service in a great location, however, I am sorry that you were a little disappointed. This was our first time in Windsor so didn’t know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The position of the hotel is superb, river in front and the castle behind. We had a lovely room overlooking the bridge with a comfortable bed and good WiFi but with different level of steps reaching the room which could be a problem for those with mobility problems but wasn’t a problem to us. Having a drink in the restaurant area watching the sun going down and the swans over the water was beautiful and the breakfast was great. We reserved parking onsite, yes it was expensive but worth it, A special mention to the staff who were professional, helpful and friendly, from the man who carried our heavy suitcase to our room, to receptionists, bar and restaurant staff, who made our trip that bit special.

Stayed here on the weekend just gone for a one off child free weekend, but where do i start.....
Parking: We parked just around the corner where the hotel has its own private spaces, £15 a night the hotel charge, which is expensive given a weekend ticket for a space opposite cost us £10.40 and there were loads of spaces still available despite what the hotel say!
Check-in was fine although its nit done in the main reception due to covid, we were able to check-in early and go to our room.
Now we paid just over £350 for a 2 nights stay inc. breakfast for a club room which i booked through booking.com, i received an email from the hotel chain few days before offing us an upgrade for £20 a night which i took them up on, only to be told that they don’t actually have any rooms to offer, an absolute pointless email then!
We stayed in room 403 and to be frank it was awful, i’ve had better nights sleep and rooms in a travel lodge that cost me £30 a night!
The room is very small and has no features, i say that as there is a fireplace but its been covered up by a large dressing table.
The view outside was of some offices and the walkway of the hotel and with single paned windows you could hear everything!
The bed was awful and creaked everytime one of us moved during the night, so we got less sleep than we would have at home with our 3 year old!
We were a bit chilly one afternoon so stuck on the heater.....Shouldnt had bothered as all it done was blow out cool air despite it being on the maximun temperature just to at least heat up!
Bathroom was decorated nicely but for some reason the shower door has a large gap meaning when you have a shower water sprays through and goes over the floor, which then gets slippery! I wasn’t that impressed with shower as managed to be unlucky and get cold water on both occasions.
Its also were pointing out there is a boiler/heater of some sort in the walls behind the bed which goes off when the room next door use the bathroom, as we were woken numerous times early morning with it going off.
We had breakfast included which in all fairness was about the only nice thing, although staff could do with a bit more attention to detail and listen to orders, i had asked for several items that i found missing on my plate when it came out both days. It was the same when we had a drink in the evening, wrong drinks being brought out.
Worth a note on the above, you cant order drinks from the bar, so they take orders from your table and you’ll still get the optional table charge for this!
The good thing going for the hotel was the location as it was a short walk into Windsor and right by the Thames. We enjoyed our weekend in Windsor itself but it was let down by the room.

Very disappointed with the room allocated, despite booking direct and requesting a Grand Room with a view over the Thames
Allocated a room in overlooking Thames Street directly above the kitchen
So my room did not have, Thames view, walk-in shower, Fridge.! toiletries were just a shampoo and small soap
No slippers in bathroom pack and no complementary water
There was a lot of noise from 05.45 on first morning from street.
I spoke to receptionist at 09.30 who was going to look at CCTV and advise.
At 16.30i spoke to Duty Manager who was not aware that I had raised issues
When I saw him again at 1930 was given some extra toiletries.
I did mention that I did not appear to have received any of the extras I thought I was entitled to. Kept telling me it was the room that was the extra cost
It did not effect my stay but wardrobe appears to be a single .
Had to carry kettle and place on the floor as could not find an adjacent power point.
I did speak with Danka this morning and maters were discussed in a professional manner and came to an amicable agreement
I state again in view of position and other issues within the room as discussed, if possible stipulate you do not want room 36
I understand there are staffing issues across the country but staff appear to be covering various roles as and when required. This did not detract from the effort or courtesy towards clients
Thank you service was excellent but Management should be sorting out these issues.
I did note but only after I complained there are other reviews mention noise and street so perhaps it is not just me
Windsor is a great place to visit. The position of the hotel is superb. It was my first overnight stay in the Town have been out in the edge Slough etc
The phrase some come with… looks like a stretch too far and when you book or hear calls snort her phrase is Cannot guarantee but will do what we can
Live in SW England work in Tourist industry. Rooms with sea views are more expensive that overlooking landslide
Your description exaggerates certain issues and when you arrive feel let down
Hope things improve for everyone
A coup,e of little tweaks and could easily have 5* reviews
Good Luck
Allocated a room in overlooking Thames Street directly above the kitchen
So my room did not have, Thames view, walk-in shower, Fridge.! toiletries were just a shampoo and small soap
No slippers in bathroom pack and no complementary water
There was a lot of noise from 05.45 on first morning from street.
I spoke to receptionist at 09.30 who was going to look at CCTV and advise.
At 16.30i spoke to Duty Manager who was not aware that I had raised issues
When I saw him again at 1930 was given some extra toiletries.

Dear Jon H Thank you for your very detailed review of the hotel. I am very sorry that your stay, fell well below our usually high standards. The hotel is annually, independently inspected and once again we have retained our four star rating. It is always disappointing to receive negative feedback and I am sorry that you had to repeatedly chase us for basic standards. I am pleased that you enjoyed our unique location and found the team friendly and helpful. Your constructive comments, have already been shared with the General Manager and his team and will be extremely helpful as we move forward. Thank you once again for taking the time to share your constructive comments. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

We stayed at Sir Christopher Wren for one night, on Saturday. From the moment we arrived it was clear that they were focused on the wedding parties that they were hosting and that all others staying at the hotel were less of a priority.
We paid £60 for use of the spa which was possibly the worst spa I've been in, a single hot tub in an alley way, a dirty sauna with a broken timer and a relaxation room (which we didn't bother using).
Everything at this hotel felt cheap, tired and in need of some investment. For example we were given one travel sized bottle of Bathe 2in1 shampoo and conditioner and a travel sized bottle of lotion in the bathroom and a tiny hand soap. The reception staff were not friendly and completely unhelpful or willing to help, so much so that we weren't able to have the included breakfast because one of the staff told us it wasn't included and then when we came back having checked that it was included in our booking we were told we had missed making a booking and that they had booked out every slot post 9am for the wedding party which meant that we couldn't have breakfast. We were also told that all the parking had been booked for the wedding so we couldn't park in their lot either. Lastly, when it came to check in to our room, they weren't ready and made us wait for an hour (they did give us a complimentary drink for the inconvenience).

Dear HappyTravelBugger Thank you for your detailed feedback following your recent Saturday overnight visit. I am sorry that your recent stay failed to meet your expectations. The hotel does host a number of weddings throughout the year, however the service provided to our residents, should never be compromised, all of our guests are important to us. It is always disappointing to receive negative feedback and I am sorry that so many aspects of your stay, failed to reach our usually high four star standard. Our team should always be polite, friendly and professional, bathroom toiletries are a daily standard and should always be provided. Parking is limited at the hotel, I can only apologise that our limited number of spaces were already booked. Once again, thank you for your constructive comments, I am sorry that your stay was not a more positive experience. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

Hi Kallie, best to check with the hotel
No hot tub users, I guess!
Next question. The Sir Christopher apartments are between a restaurant and a bar on Datchet road so....noisy at night?
