Everything about this hotel was perfect and I mean Perfect! Starting from check in, quality of the room, breakfast, dining and check out experience. We could not fault it! I myself work in hotel industry and to see and experience such a high standards was a great feeling. Staff were all very accommodating and polite from the front desk to housekeeping team members to the breakfast and dinner team. Nothing was to much trouble for them. I can not speak highly enough about the team! Credit to your organisation! The rooms were extremely clean and well maintained and the location of the hotel and the restaurant is superb! Thank you all! we can’t wait to come back.

It’s a funny place - the building is lovely and we pop in there quite often for a burger or steak sandwich - and it’s decent. But the staff are clueless - and it’s not even their fault there is no management present. Their new idea is no eating outside. They have an amazing view of the river and a lovely outside space - who makes up this nonsense? It never used to be the case.

We just stayed here and from start to finish the experience was excellent. Reception greeted us very professionally and brought our luggage to the room (no lift). Breakfasts were very well prepared and had a great variety of items. The room we had (#38) was quite large and had a side view of the Thames. It was 2 flights of stairs to get to but we’d take that room again when we’re in the area. We ate at The Brasserie one night and dinner was excellent, especially the pan roasted chicken breast. Parking is available but it is 2 blocks away, and not a problem. In room Wi-Fi was fast and stable. All in all we really liked this hotel and would go back.

It was a beautiful bank holiday and I met my disabled mother for a drink in the garden by the river, it was around 1/1.30 when we went to the bar and we ordered drinks to be told by an older gentleman with dark hair that they are ‘unable to serve food outside and we would need to come in if we’d like to eat’, we said we understood and I said that we would have drinks for now whilst I went outside to discuss with my mum what she wanted to to and took the menus out to her. My father then went back in to ask for the table and was told we could now not eat as they were fully booked. I then went in to discuss with the bar staff due to a mixed message having been told only minutes earlier that we could eat inside if we wanted to. The young man said he was the manager, I assume of the bar/restaurant area, who I explained this to and he reluctantly said we could eat on a small table by the bar, to which I thanked him. I then went outside to tell my parents we could eat as planned, when we came in I was very shocked to be confronted by the older gentleman alongside the ‘manager’ who said he had not told us we could eat inside and why did I say that. There were witnesses to our conversation and it was all very odd that he was actually arguing with me about what was said, why would I have taken menus out to the family if I was told we couldn’t eat- he clearly told us we could come inside if we wanted to eat! He seemed very concerned that his boss had asked him what had happened and said ‘it was illegal’ for him to tell me we could eat inside which was just absolutely ridiculous. I have never had such poor customer service in my life, for someone in the hospitality industry to actually be confrontational left me without words. We decided to take our business elsewhere as the staff were so rude, even though my mother struggles with her mobility which is preposterous but she was the one who saw both the manager and the older gentleman gang up on me and she she didn’t want to stay or give any custom their way!

Really good hotel in a great central location to explore Windsor. The hotel is really well maintained and everywhere looks freshly decorated. Staff were great. Friendly, efficient and helpful. Bedrooms are very clean, a good size and very comfortable. Loved the buffet breakfast. The food was well cooked and all fresh. Would recommend this hotel highly.

Booked in for one night then returned for another night 2 days later so was fortunate to compare service and consistency. Booked both executive rooms. Was placed in room 307, very disappointing, was more guest house, creaking floors, musty carpets and musty old style wardrobe (with few coat hangers and a few broken). A small TV was on the wall at a stupid angle. Towels were thin and of poor quality. Room was clean and bed comfy. The second nights room was 451. What a difference! Like being in a different hotel. Modern, clean and bed comfy. Quality towels and modern television. Not convinced the first room we were given was an 'Executive Room'.

Dear OnAir593490 Thank you for taking the time to review The Sir Christopher Wren. Accommodation at the hotel is split across five buildings. Some guests prefer to be in the main building, which is traditional and quirky, with lots of original features, whilst other guests prefer to be in our newest building Windsor House, where the bedrooms are very modern. Belatedly, I can only apologise that you were disappointed with your first room 307, I can confirm that this room is classified as an executive. However, I am delighted that you really appreciated and enjoyed Room 451. Thank you for sharing your constructive comments, we hope that the positive aspects of your two stay's outweigh the negative and that you would consider returning to us again. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

We stayed for two nights with a break in between. We booked executive rooms which were not cheap. The rooms were like being in two different hotels. One was old style furniture and grubby entrance carpets. The other was a fresh modern clean and comfortable room. Communications with the hotel was sporadic, and the pre welcome email was doom and gloom. Basicly saying, "we are too busy, we don't have enough staff, so dont bother us unless!!" Thankfully, we didn't need anything

Dear SuzyQScotlandUk Thank you for reviewing The Sir Christopher Wren. It is always disappointing to receive negative feedback and I am sorry that your experience after staying with us on two occasions, was so mixed. As you know bedrooms at the hotel are split across a number of buildings. In our experience, some guests prefer our more traditional bedrooms which are in the main, original building, whilst others prefer our newer, modern rooms which are opposite in Windsor House. I am sorry that you felt our communication was sporadic and not very welcoming. The easiest way for us to share information with our guests is via our pre-stay emails, I am sorry if you felt that this was negative, this is definitely not the impression we wish to convey. It is disappointing that your two experiences were so mixed and that we failed to meet your expectations. Thank you for sharing your constructive feedback. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

We were fortunate to have a room with a balcony in the main hotel. The only downside was the strange staircase situation where you had to go up two very narrow stairways and then down again. We were able to do it without too much difficulty since we had help with the luggage, otherwise it would have been impossible. Our room was lovely, but small. We ate dinner in the restaurant every night and very much enjoyed everything we ate. We had a simple breakfast delivered to our room each morning since we are not early risers when traveling. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in Windsor. It’s location is convenient to both Windsor Castle and Eaton. Parking is a bit difficult, as the hotel has no onsite parking and the car park is not very secure which made us a little nervous and we checked our car daily to make sure it was not damaged.

Dar TennesseeTravelQueen Thank you for taking the time to review The Sir Christopher Wren Hotel. I am delighted that you feel we are a "good choice if you are staying in Windsor". Accommodation at The Wren is split across five buildings, I am thrilled that you had a room in the main hotel with a balcony, which you described as lovely but small However, as you were in the main hotel, there is no lift and we cannot add one due to strict building regulations. I am sorry that you had to navigate the staircases but I am pleased we provided assistance with your luggage. Thank you for your lovely feedback regarding the restaurant I am pleased that you enjoyed meals there every night of your stay, and appreciated a simple room service breakfast each morning. As you know the hotel is in a unique location, we are the only riverside hotel, whilst also being in the shadow of the castle and a short walk to Windsor town centre as well as Eton, sot here is plenty to see and do. I hope that the positive aspects of your stay, outweigh the negative and that you would consider returning to us on a future trip. Kind regards Lesley Denyer Customer Service Manager

Do not boom this hotel! Three good things: Brasserie, a few of the staff and location. Dreadful admin (randomly cancel bookings) overpriced car parking, some awful staff eg Rebecca. Poor rooms, completely outdated. Left and right hand no idea what it's doing. Worse hotel experience I have had in 30+ years...but costs hundreds of pounds. Will be making a complaint to AA who stared it a 4.

On check in we were blunty told we have no carpark due to the Coronation. They found out days before, but failed to communicate this to us in advance to find alternative arrangements. Subsequently we spent hours driving around Windsor to find parking. Staff not interested in helping, and seemed completely baffled at our annoyance of not being pre- warned! We have stayed here before, so are repeat guests, not that it seemed to be valued by the front desk team. The following day when the car park reopened, we asked of the car parking space could be extended, at which we were ridiculously told we would need to pay £15! Silly place having a right royal laugh at their poor guests. Find a hotel that offers better accommodation (this is seriously tired) and actually values your custom. This places simply trades off its central location.
