Travellers' Choice
Imagine a hotel where roaring log-burning open fireplaces hint at its roots dating from the 1300's, with a vaulted ceiling and original wood panelling built in the seventeenth century. Visit a hotel that has been coloured by the characters of history. At The Lygon Arms, with its 86 rooms you can stay in the suite that King Charles I once stayed in the night before the Battles of Worcester in 1651. See the carvings of John Travis' name on the arch of the front door, etched into the hotel's history in 1620. An historic hotel in the heart of Broadway with a typically Cotswolds history. Dine in Bar & Grill or the Wine Bar, or enjoy a coffee or a Cotswold Gin and Tonic in one of our many lounges. A spa , swimming pool and The Lygon Gardens await you but most importantly the team look forward to welcoming you. .

The staff we have to endure were awful, and seem to go through the motions without a smile or customer engagement. Most seemed to operate like they did not want to be there. After a few hours we felt the same way........ ! During our stay, it felt like as guests we were an inconvience and not wanted. When this happens in the hospitality industry you know a hotel urgently needs a new skaeup a new management team and urgent staff retraining. The other lasting memory of Lygon Arms is how dirty it is. The place needs a really good clean as dust is everywhere. All in all, a total anti-climax, and falls way short of its own billing as a luxury country hotel. Th only standout feature of our stay was the size of the bill. We do not mind paying for luxury, and travel a lot doing so. However, The Lydon Arms charges premier league prices for thrid division service, and the blanket service charge added to everyting is poor form when there is no good customer service to justify and reward the payment of said service charge....

The Lygon Arms is a gorgeous Hotel set in Broadway a delightful Cotswold village. Afternoon tea was served in a beautiful lounge with a mixture of sofas and table and chairs with a quintessential Brtish feel. The selection of delicious sandwiches, a highly flavoured handmade sausge roll, feather light scones with clotted cream and preseves and small delicate cakes were sublime. Accompanient by numerous pots of tea. A lovely setting to partake this very traditional meal. This is the second time we have have had afternoon tea here and we will definitely be returning.

Stayed here for 3 nights over a long weekend with our family . 6 of us and a baby for my husbands 60th birthday celebrations . From the moment we checked in to when we left all the staff were friendly , accommodating, professional and lovely. Nothing was too much trouble . Our room no52 was large and had a massive walk in shower which was brilliant. The bed was very comfortable. Toiletries , towels changed every day. We had private dining in the Cromwell room and again staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about the history. Food was excellent. Couldn’t fault it . All in all we loved our stay. Courtyard for drinks and listening to live music. Pool fab although gym small but minor detail . Breakfast good . Highly recommended

Started coming here 30 years ago when Savoy Group managed it with style, elegance, elan and panache. This place has declined to an extent that is barely imaginable. Difficult to know where to begin. The staff quality is generally poor. They seem to have little or no pride in what they do. They seem to lack any kind of motivation and that failure usually comes from the top. The Manageress looked harassed ( although she was rushing with a first aid kit to attend a lady who had hurt her head) when I came to the desk to complain about my hot water tap not working ( I complained at breakfast… and when I rang down before dinnertime to say it had still not been repaired… I was told that ‘the man had tried to fix it but couldn’t!).One of your correspondents mentioned ‘bed bugs’. Another mentioned ‘cobwebs’. May I suggest to the harassed Manageress that she does the ‘ finger across the window cill’ test in the dining room… and the penny will drop. If she looks up to the ceiling she will see cobwebs and dirt and grime galore. The place needs a ‘bottoming’. It is filthy. No ‘ifs, buts or maybes’ Another correspondent mentioned being caught out by the 12.5%service charge. Same with me. 2 bottles of champagne served in the lounge to celebrate an anniversary cost me about £28 service. And then… The Pub Singer in the courtyard! Guitar, backing music box, loud, intrusive and seemed to plough on forever. When I complained from my room about the noise the man was making I was told..’don’t worry… he’ll be finishing shortly’! This hotel is outrageously expensive for what it is. A small room described as ‘cosy’ at £325 per night! I shall NEVER return.

Stunning hotel but overpriced for drinks and then a hidden 12.5% service charge on top, was going to book an evening meal but when two drinks in an afternoon is touching £20 with service charge we decided against. Such a shame to see other pubs with packed beer gardens.
