The first problem was the en suite bathroom in our room (202). As soon as I opened the bathroom door, there was an awful stench (a cross between poo, vomit and chemicals). There appeared to be a stain near the door, too. We couldn't work out what could be causing the stench and spoke to the duty manager, who said the rooms had just had a 'chemical flush' and there was obviously some sort of 'blow back'. To be fair, he arranged for someone to go and sort out the problem and it was resolved. No compensation of any sort was offered, however and there was no one on Reception when we checked out. The other issue was the housekeeping staff. They woke us up at 9.45am, gossiping loudly, laughing and coughing right outside our room (bear in mind we were wearing earplugs!). I had to bang on our door and ask them to keep the noise down, which they did for all of 10 minutes, then they started up again. We had a Do Not Disturb sign on our door, which they obviously ignored. If we had been staying a further night and wanted to lie in until 12 or so, then we would have been even more annoyed. I can't imagine they made a very good job of cleaning our room after we checked out at 11am, as they were all down in the bar area with drinks and had ordered breakfast by 11.30am. We also noted that the communal areas and the pub downstairs weren't particularly clean and the stairs to the toilets needed a good hoovering. Several cubicles in the ladies were dirty and had no toilet paper in the dispensers. Someone obviously isn't keeping on top of the quality of work of their cleaning staff. It's such a shame, as we've stayed here twice before and had no complaints. The last time we stayed here was 17 months ago and the place has obviously gone downhill since then.

Had a lovely 1 night stay here after Worcester races with friends. Room was perfect, clean and quiet. Staff were lovely and because it's linked to the pub, food is available for hours on end. Price was great and we'll be coming back again.

We called into this pub for a breakfast after the hotel we were stopping in were unable to provide a breakfast due to an issue in their kitchen. What a mistake. The only thing hot about the breakfast was the plate, the rest was stone cold. We certainly won’t eat there again.

Only moan was the check in desk was unmanned and it took a while to get staff out to check in. Visited on the record hottest day of the year so was very grateful for in room air con and was also pleased to have a super king size bed even though I’d booked a single. Room was clean and tidy. L and spacious. Bathroom modern super clean and a great shower in the morning. Despite being in the centre of town the street noise wasn’t bad. Was in the top floor. Seagulls are the only issue but you can’t blame the hotel for that! Bed was comfortable but didn’t smell very fresh. It was clean. Had a great spoons breakfast, always a winner especially as they now have a great hot vegan breakfast. Check out easy. All in al I preferred this hotel to the premier inn near the m5. It was quieter despite its location and more premium even tho the cost a bit lower. I was really surprised and had a good stay. I’ll be back!

I visited The Crown, Worcester uner a recommendation. The Duty Manager and friendly. We had a lovely and lively evening and headed back to the hotel fancied a night cap it was 1am. I was rudely spoken to by some man on reception. OK if the bar is shut, it's shut. Although, as a resident, I did expect a drink ad I would do if I was in my own home. His attitude was well unnecessary and rude, making gestures like throwing his atm around "Bar is shut". I felt embarrassed. He shut the reception door like K was scum. OK Worcester is a lovely place. It's also a University town fill of young beautiful people. Sometimes it can get happy and fun can be taken to the extreme, but please do jot treat everyone the same. I'd booked Christmas Day for 3 nights but the experience has put me off, so I have cancelled. Wetherspoons being so big probably don't care but I do. Respect manners and principals are, I don't know, but not around much more

Don't bother to complain about service and not receiving all of your meal here. The manger Joe will argue that you are being unreasonable and offer you a free drink rather than a refund. Really not impressed.

To say nothing of the incredible value for money -- the Crown was a delightful hotel. So much thought and care must have gone into the renovation of this heritage hotel and its decoration. I was so impressed by my room, 206. It was a compact but highly comfortable and stylish hotel room that was so nicely decorated with a musical theme -- even the carpets! The bathroom was large, stylish and perfect. Like other reviewers, I was amazed by the generous hospitality tray, better than most other hotels. The Wetherspoons staff who assisted with reception, whom I met while having breakfast, and the housekeeping staff I met while checking out were excellent. Completely unstarchy and totally friendly. My only complaint would have been the weak WiFi in my room -- but I was so pleased with everything else that this simply did not matter to me.
