Abergavenny itself is not terribly exciting, is it. A good market, but an awful lot of places where you're fine if you want peas and chips and pie rather than quality food. But boy, were we glad we found this place, the Kings Arms. Got to be the best food for many miles around. Can't recommend it highly enough. I...

Walked in for a cider to the wonderful aroma if truffles and mushrooms..indulged in the wild mushroom and truffle tagliatelle and a cider. Superb food, lovely staff and atmosphere amongst the local dialects. A charming, authentic and gourmet experience.

Good location with parking nearby. Clean and tidy rooms with character - we had the loft room with nice bath (but no separate shower). Staff really responsive and helpful for any issues even though it's primarily a busy little gastro pub. Breakfast very good and although we didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening, it's obviously good quality and...

We spent two nights at the Kings Arms and would certainly return. Room was fun and funky up in the attic, but clean and comfortable. We ate several meals, breakfast and dinner, and the food was very good. Pub had great atmosphere, live music both nights, and everyone was very friendly and helpful. All around an excellent place to stay...

Very welcoming and competant. Lots going in a very convivial atmosphere. Room was nice as was the breakfast. We also dined there and that too was most enjoyable. It is an interesting old building with an internal, open courtyard. Well done Team; thank you.

This was an OK stay for one night. I had room 10 which is up two flights, the first manageable and the second being very steep and awkward. My room was nice, decorated well and was nice to have the beams in the room. Absolute nightmare to find a plug socket that wasn't hidden anywhere. Had to unplug various appliances...

We have now stayed at the hotel 4 times. We have had a different room on each occasion and each of them has had a charming character of its own. The staff are always friendly and extremely helpful. The food is well cooked and presented. The hotel is situated so that you can walk through the pretty market town, up...

Room 7 - Several Nights stopover. All the basic requirements met OK, including clean comfortable bed, tea/coffee etc. However, it sounds like the room next door must have a Macerator and every time they use the loo you hear it whirring away, quite loudly - even if that happens to be 3 in the morning! Small window (which you will...
