We booked a two night stay with cream tea and taster menu on the first night (unfortunately these had to be booked for the same day - we would have chosen to have one on each day to have something to look forward to). We arrived a little later than expected and decided to have our cream tea before checking... More

House has plenty of character and warmth from the open fires and staff. Very pleasant stay, bedroom modern with authentic feature windows. Tried the "taster" menu, it was excellent, varied and very well cooked and presented. They have a wine per course offer, which is well worth trying, the lady sommelier chose well and guides you through the choice of... More

Firstly can I say I have had many afternoon teas in the area in big hotels and small establishments and this was the worst one by far. The surroundings are very nice and the area we sat in was warm and clean but really that's about the only good points. We were a table of 12 celebrating a special achievement... More

I booked a room as a last minute night away with my partner as a surprise. I had booked an executive room but on arrival discovered we had been booked into the Raglan Suite - a lovely large four poster room. But let me backtrack a moment, the hotel staff were very helpful even before our arrival with confirming the... More

We had a 2 night stay in this hotel as part of what was supposed to be a luxury weekend away. The hotel looks luxurious from the outside and has beautiful grounds. However, once inside things start to disappoint. The communal areas are dated and trying to find a member of staff was almost impossible. When we did eventually find... More

Very mixed. The hotel is in a beautiful setting and looks great. Check in was ok. Had three rooms between us - an executive double which was nice with comfortable bed, extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy. Standard doubles were fine but bed on at the small side. The room on the third floor had a lot of... More

A wonderful country retreat. Lovely room and intimate feel and setting. Service was excellent and very accommodating. The wine list is extensive and a good variety of drinks available at the bar. Breakfast was delicious and food sourced locally, even a list to tell you where from. I would have no hesitation in going back and I highly recommend. There... More

We have just had a fabulous weekend in Abergavenny. It's a beautiful place. Only slightly spoilt by the hotel. Before I start I'm not a moaning myrtle. Look at my previous reviews... but this hotel was diabolical. The level of cleanliness was grubby and best and filthy at worst. We booked 3 rooms at £135 each per night staying for... More

Only a one night stay but very impressed with the standard of the food. Would definitely return for this alone. Lovely location but could be easy to miss the entrance sign at night as the Sat Nav does not highlight the actual turn.
