Situated by the canal and hidden from the road the hotel has the ideal setting. Rooms were a good size and clean bathroom, only the windows that looked old and tired let the room down. Perfect breakfast and bar meals were good quality at a reasonable price. The restaurant gave more choice and quality dining if you wanted something a...

Took a guest there for dinner, because it's a handsome building in a beautiful setting, and we'd had a good bar lunch there some time before. Dinner was very disappointing. Watery, flavourless garlic mushroom starter. Small, thin, dry sea bass swamped with vegetables. We asked if they could give us cafetière coffee. What arrived was stewed coffee from something like...

We spent two days at this hotel midweek. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a fantastic view from our bedroom (No1). It was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfy, it was extremely quiet even though we were above the resturant We had evening meals with them they were pleasant but not overwhelming, not an awful...

My husband and I (and friends on occasions) have used this hotel in the past before it changed hands (approx 2 years ago), so we were keen to see if it was still as good. We were not disappointed. The setting is lovely and views from all bedroom windows are very pleasant, especially this time of year. Staff were friendly...

The Ellesmere Probus club held their annual lunch for 59 members partners & guests in the lovely dinning room looking down the vale of Llangollen to the Castell Dinas Brân above the town. The food and service was excellent and all 59 dinners said they enjoyed the day.

The location is stunning close to the Llangollen Canal. The room was well appointed and the bed was comfortable. The Hotel is within walking distance of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct - well worth the walk. The outstanding part of our stay was the food. We ate here for three nights and we could not have had a better choice of well cooked...

We booked here for a large family event earlier this year. A few weeks before we came for a lunch and left very disappointed, so we were extremely nervous about how the huge booking of 40 + would go. We shouldn't of worried, the chef, on learning that we had 2 vegans in the group came out to talk to...

Not easy to see from the road, the hotel is located in an old manor not far from Llangollen. It proved to be a good spot for visiting Oswestry, Llangollen, Canarvon and we had a lovely long walk along the towpath to the nearby viaduct. The staff did their best, but little details could have been improved. For example the...

Stopped here on a coach trip. As carveries go,this was better than most. Choice of pork or turkey with vegetable dishes brought to the table. All piping hot with plenty of gravy. We ordered two wines from the list which were not available but third time lucky. Cumble desert was good and coffee ok with refills if wanted.
