Having stayed at most of the hotels in Llangollen, this is by far the worst. We were originally given a room with a broken radiator (with no double gazing, room was freezing) then moved to another (although the bathroom radiator in this room was broken, the main one worked). Although they advertise that "many rooms have a river view" most... More

I chose this hotel for its location and was not disappointed as our room over looked the river and Castle dinas bran. the room its self was large and roomy. on first entering appeared clean but then noted cobwebs in various areas of the ceiling and dust on plugs (didn't look on the wardrobe ) the bathroom had damp patch... Unfriendly , unhelpful owner manager put us in room105 which smelt terrible .Owners response was there had been a leak and trying to dry out room , yet we were still put in this room. Love this Hotel, it is not modern, it is not perfect but that is what we like about it! It has lots of character just like the beautiful town it sits in the middle of. We can leave our car in the Free car park and walk everywhere we need to. Great breakfast , great views at the back of... More

I towed my motorcycle to this hotel so as to use it as a base and ride out from there. The car park, whilst awkward to get into and being quite small, was very accommodating. The hotel were happy for me to leave the car there even after we had checked out on the last morning. The hotel itself was... More

A traditional hotel with a great history, set on the side of the River Dee, so magnificent views from the rooms and the Terrace. Polite staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Fresh food, very chilling couple of days.

Friendly staff, Clean, cosy room with a very comfortable bed. Great breakfast and conveniently situated right in the centre of town. Lovely views of the river from the dining room and bedroom. The bonus was free parking in such a busy place.

We were three mature bikers (one of our group had to drop out) on a Wales motorcycle trip. Myself and a friend arrived on Monday for four nights and the other friend arrived on Tuesday. The hotel car park, diagonally across the street, is small and pretty rough; so much so that we asked if it was safe to leave... More

My wife and I stayed at The Royal for a couple of nights last week while visiting the area. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the service is excellent. We particularly enjoyed the superb breakfast which really set us up for a day of walking.

Four of us stayed for the night while walking Offa's Dyke in October 2016. The position of the Royal Hotel could not be better as it sits on the bank of the river Dee. The owner and staff were very helpful and showed us to a fine and large double room with an ensuite shower room. The room was very... More
