This was a last-minute booking but a really pleasant experience in general. Everything you'd expect and hope for from a mid-range 3-star B&B. No frills but all the essentials are there. Very friendly and helpful owners and staff, solid full breakfast with basic continental option, clean and tidy room, basic en-suite and room facilities, staff willing to go the extra...

My friends and I stayed here for a Birthday weekend, to climb Pen Y Fan. We'd never been to the Brecon Becons before and have to say we were really impressed with the place and with Brecon town itself. The Beacons is a perfect location. The rooms were a little tired but clean, warm and comfortable and we had a...

This was booked last minute and we were nothing but impressed by the beacon guest house. The room was clean and bathroom was exceptionally clean. The breakfast was very good with a nice variety. A great little place to stay that is not too expensive.

Had a great weekend staying at this place! Lovely warm welcome. Incredibly helpful and chatty. The delicious home cooked locally sourced breakfast was a great way to start the day! I would definitely stay here again the only thing is i wish we'd had a key to the front door as coming in the back way is a little worrying....

Scruffy, dirty, dated, no facilities, cronky old bed, old fashioned furniture, no Wi-fi, freezing cold, threadbare towels, hair on bedside table, dust Everywhere, dead spiders, alive spiders, No complimentary soap/shampoo etc, etc. Never been in a prison cell, but can imagine it's similar to my room.

We had a pleasant two night stay in the beacons and would go again. Yes it's a bit tired, and yes the double bed gave us a physical and metaphorical sagging feeling ... but sometimes none of that matters. The room layout for a family was great and the staff were really friendly. Location good. Breakfast good.

All rather cramped and tired; some eccentric decoration which might not appeal to many. Bedrooms small - generally gave the impression of having tried to squeeze as many rooms as possible into the available space. Breakfast was good and served promptly; 10 mins walk into the centre of Brecon for places to eat. At £69 for a double room B&B,...

There are many B&Bs in Brecon. This one has parking although I parked on the road. Some are more central in town but, hey, Brecon isn't that big. I found it easily as it is on one of the main roads into town. It is an old, historic building which makes it quaint and quirky with the spiral staircases and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Beacons was once a riverside farm and the 17th Century barns and cottages still remain. The front part of the building was added in the early 1700's and the house has changed little - apart from modern comforts and decor. The original spiral staircase, moulded ceilings and even the meat cellar (now a cosy bar) all add to the character and atmosphere of this lovely home. ... more   less
