First impression was the old smell of the place. The bed springs were worn out and so the bed was very uncomfortable and on the second night we even tried putting the mattress on the floor which helped. Generally the bedroom was tired and in need of refurbishing. The shower was powerful and hot. The staff were helpful and the...

We stayed at the Brecon Guesthouse for 3 nights during a recent trip to Wales and enjoyed our stay. The guesthouse is a short walk from the centre of Brecon, the river, and some great restaurants. The room we had was comfortable and cosy, though a bit noisy (we could hear conversations from the room next door and whenever anyone...

My friends and I were pleased overall with The Beacons, which is conveniently located, easy to find and provides free parking. The rooms were very clean and had comfortable beds with nice quality linens and pillows. The decor was a bit tired. The wifi worked well in the lobby, but not in the rooms. Breakfast was ample and good,

We stayed at "The Beacons" B&B in Brecon for one night over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May as part of a 4 day Welsh break. We were greeted warmly by Carol and directed to the family room (Room #5) we'd booked online. Room 5 is located on the 3rd Floor and has one double bed and...

Location is good if you want to be near the centre of town. It was only about a five minute walk away. The car park at the back of the B and B was really useful too. We stayed in room two which was very spacious but a little tired. unfortunately as soon as you opened the door you were...

Excellent location and a warm welcome from the owners which is not always the case when you are with a group of 16 boys. Students and myself made to feel right at home and shown to our rooms. Rooms well equipped and comfy and a lovely breakfast the next morning (freshly cooked with a choice as well). Even got to...

Great location, friendly and accommodating staff. Breakfast was excellent on both days! We were in a twin with shared bathroom but it was very clean and great value. Beds were a little uncomfortable but we are both 6'2". Would have no problem recommending this place if you are looking for somewhere which is good value!

My Wife and I and my Son and his Fiance stayed at the Beacons overnight on Saturday 17th January.2014. All I can say is what a lovely place it is. It doesn't feel like a Hotel, its a Home from home with all of your home comforts. We arrived before Lunch fearing that we would be told our rooms were...

I stay in a lot of a hotels for work (mostly in London, the big chains etc) and, in comparison, The Beacons falls a little short in some respects. But to make such a comparison misses the point. Ok, so some parts are little tired (I prefer 'characterful'), the en-suite in my room wasn't heated.... But at this price and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Beacons was once a riverside farm and the 17th Century barns and cottages still remain. The front part of the building was added in the early 1700's and the house has changed little - apart from modern comforts and decor. The original spiral staircase, moulded ceilings and even the meat cellar (now a cosy bar) all add to the character and atmosphere of this lovely home. ... more   less
