The Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel near Bridgend in South Wales is a beautiful privately owned 4 star country house hotel justifiably proud of its fine reputation. Few settings are more tranquil than that of the aptly named Coed-y-Mwstwr or "Whispering Trees". Perched on a Welsh hillside and surrounded by over 17 acres of woodland, this Victorian mansion provides a cosy and secluded hideaway overlooking the picturesque Vale of Glamorgan. With our gym, sauna and steam room, tennis court and adjacent golf course there is plenty to keep the energetic occupied. Built in 1888 the house was first opened as a hotel in 1965. It is an oasis of calm where you, your family and your business colleagues are always welcomed back as old friends. Our 35 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms ensure all modern comforts and facilities are provided. At the privately owned Coed-Y-Mwstwr hotel, our team have pride in what they do, they enjoy working at the hotel. You'll be greeted with a warm Welsh welcome and you're assured of friendly, but always courteous and professional attention throughout your stay.

Our visit was the result of a gift from work colleges, we had heard from someone who had attended a wedding at the hotel that it was a "nice place". We did not explore all the facilities at the hotel, just the lounge, bar, restaurant, obviously our room and part of the grounds on the morning of our departure, which on a spring or summer evening it would be good to take advantage of. When we return it will be late spring or early summer. All in all the stay exceeded our expectations.

This is a little Gem. Highly recommended if you are visiting South Wales. Ask for Laver bread with your cooked breakfast. Great staff and very clean bedrooms. Hope to visit again next year when I visit for the six nations.

Fantastic overall, only negative was the talking and singing outside between 3-4AM possibly by ground staff? The location is perfect, hotel very welcoming and staff very cheerful and helpful, and it’s dog friendly for when we come back!!!

The staff and food were lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful. They had a fabulous log fire which we sat around for most of the night. Our conference room was big and bright with awesome views. The deco is very tired which is probably a sign of the times.

My daughters held her wedding here and the only way I can sum it up is fabulous, the venue, staff, management, food, families organisation of the marriage all were better than first class. We all want the best for our families and I was concerned that my daughter and he husband to be would be let down, I needn't have worried as we were looked after from start to finish, all the staff were more than helpful and I thank all at the Coed y Mwstwr for making my daughters big day perfect I highly recommend the hotel for not only a big day but as a hotel for visitors thank you all
