Stayed with family for a few days during the Christmas break.

Fantastic location, very central. It's about 2 mins walk to the shops.

We needed some toothpaste and so I popped to the locals boots and was gone back within 10 mins.

We stayed on the 9th floor in a family room and it was sufficient for our needs. There was 1 double bed and 2 singles. One single was very uncomfortable but the kids didn't notice it but this didn't help us as my son got scared during the night so jumped in the double bed so I was relegated to the single.

The decor is exactly like other premier places so you know what you are getting.

We booked online and also paid for breakfast for the full menu. This was handy as the kids were included free so its good value for money at £10 for the adults.

The food spread is the same across all sites.

The restaurant workers are very efficient in clearing or topping up the food.

We parked our car in the NCP car park called Dumfries. I think there should be more advertisement on the premier inn website about this as I'm sure unless you have read the reviews you will not know the parking is discounted. As there are plenty of NCP car parks closer to the hotel.

Overall nice experience.

I have always loved Premier Inn, and this one has not disappointed!

The great layout of the reception area made it so easy to get help and get some late night snacks (thanks to the vending machines!) Key card needed to get in the hotel at late hours so very safe and secure. Reception team were really helpful and friendly too!

To use the lift, a key card was needed too (again great for safety) and two lifts were available for use. Stairs were also available however the lift was more convenient (especially for us since we were on floor 8)

The room itself was beautiful, the painting on the wall made the room feel warm and comfy and the hypnos bed made sleeping so perfect. Comfort at its very best! The desk and tea making facilities were great and you could easily get more tea/sugar/coffee/milk from reception next to the door to the lifts. The view from the room was stunning! The beautiful heights of Cardiff and the bustling city life - amazing. The bathroom was so elegant with an amazingly warm bath to look forward to every night and a shower too for quick cleaning in the mornings. The towels were even comfortable!

In the morning, we went to the breakfast buffet and it was like heaven on earth. The buffet was absolutely faultless and the food served was just the best I've ever eaten. I looked forward to it every morning.

I will definitely be returning to this hotel much more often as it was such a great stay. I love every single Premier Inn I visit and I wouldn't even dream of sleeping anywhere else away from home!

This inn has an ideal location, being situated across the road from Queen Street train station and a five minute walk to the extensive St David's shopping centre with the city centre on the other side.
The room was the standard setup and ideal for our short break, however the small television was in need of an upgrade and the woodwork in the bathroom was stained and in great need of refreshing. While these were only slight cosmetic criticisms I overheard another guest at breakfast telling the staff member they were staying in an upgraded room. Currently the inn is undergoing refurbishment so it would be worth requesting one of these rooms (waterfall showers I believe).
Breakfast was great but on the first morning we manged to get our cereal and cooked breakfast just before 9am, when continual large groups started to arrive. There had been a Bastille concert the night before at the Motorpoint arena and when I went up to get an extra sausage I counted over 20 people waiting to get their cooked breakfast. I abandoned the queue after 10 minutes and made my way to the toaster instead. We left the dining area to the sounds of a lot of complaints and requests for breakfast refunds.
The second morning was fine and more staff were on hand to deal with everyone, this time a slightly older crowd as it had been a Simple Minds concert the night before - we could tell from the t-shirts on show. While we didn't mange to make our way to the 'waterfront' (see what I did there?) we thoroughy enjoyed our stay in Cardiff and would choose this accommodation again without hesitation.

Stayed for three nights as a getaway after Christmas. We travelled by train and the hotel was fairly easy to find, about 10-15 minutes walk from the station. The check-in was quick and painless and we were given a room on the 8th floor of this 10-floor hotel so the room was quiet away from the street noise. We didn't eat in the hotel, mainly because the choice of food didn't suit our tastes and we wanted to sample food in the neighbouring restaurants. The Main Street is only about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and St. David's Shopping Mall is about the same distance. The room was clean and comfortable and we would have had a great night's sleep if it hadn't been for the fact that the room was cold, despite turning the heating control up to its maximum of 30 degrees! We were surprised that there was no telephone in the room and were amazed that, despite knowing that two people were booked into the room for three nights, the management had only provided one bath towel and one hand towel. On our way out on the first morning we attempted to ask for additional towels at reception but couldn't find anyone until I went into the restaurant and asked if anyone was available in Reception. Despite these small issues, we would return mainly due to the great location.

We've stayed at many Premier Inns over the years so we have a reasonable idea what to expect for the money we are paying. Cardiff City Centre Premier Inn has to be one of our worst experiences, sadly.

To start with, although we knew that there was no parking at the hotel and we were advised to park in an NCP carpark a short walk away (5 minutes) at a discounted rate, it wasn't clear that there was absolutely no place to unload people/luggage at the hotel itself, which made for a stressful arrival.

Our first night passed well enough (but we had not enough pillows in the room and had to request extras the following morning). As we were at the latter end of the breakfast slot, they were starting to run out of some things (yoghurts) which was a little disappointing. Otherwise fine, good food as we would expect and friendly staff.

We had been unable to find anywhere to eat in town (fully booked) on our first night so we checked the dinner menu at the Premier Inn. One of our daughters has a kind of food phobia and only eats a very limited number of foods, which makes eating out very stressful. We were relieved to find margarita pizza on the dinner menu (one of her safer choices) and so we booked a table for the Friday evening.

On the Friday evening, when we arrived for the meal, there had been some confusion and our table wasn't ready, although there were very few diners as it was an early slot. The staff member who met us apologised and sat us at an empty table then popped some cutlery down in front of us and left us with the menus. A short while later he reappeared and took our drink order. When he brought the drinks back, he informed us that one of the drinks we had ordered (a J2O flavour that he had listed for us) was unavailable. We reordered and he got the other drink. *Then* he came back again and told us that certain menu items were unfortunately unavailable, including the pizza!

As you can imagine, this was really upsetting and stressful. If we had been told earlier we would have booked somewhere else, but by now it was too late to book at another restaurant. If he had told us before we had ordered the drinks, we wouldn't have ordered them and would have gone elsewhere. We ended up finishing our drinks and leaving and ordering a takeaway from Dominos, which wasn't really what we wanted. The staff at Premier Inn weren't at all understanding or helpful and barely apologetic. It was really disappointing.

The final annoyance came at around 2am that morning when someone who was presumably a drunk guest (there were some stags and hens at the hotel) knocked on our door and shouted "Room service!", waking us and our children. Not the best night ever.

Our eldest child is at university in Cardiff so it is likely that we will be visiting the city regularly over the next couple of years but we won't be chosing Premier Inn Cardiff City Centre again.

Location: the recommend car park by the PremierInn is about 7 minutes walk to the hotel (NCP dumfries) or 2 minutes from the train station. Remember to ask for the discount card from the hotel to reduce the parking by 50% off when you arrive. Parking is around £12 for 24 hours.

The hotel is quite central to the town centre and about 10 minutes slow walk to decent restaurants and bars.

Hotel: the hotel reception is updated and is covid secure. Plenty of sanitiser, well mannered staff and a card slot to leave your card when you leave. If that makes sense.

Room: The room was massive. Big to the point that is look bare. Very difficult to describe but was very odd. The room was outdated. We were offered the first floor area and one of the bed lamp was broke. The TV was tiny. I think it was 20 inches but looked like 12 inches due to the room. To give you some perspective the room was like 3 rooms (your own home) in size. The bath was standard size.

Bed was very comfortable as premier inn mattresses are. Any complaints? Just heads up, the doors bang. Premier-inn could work on this for the customers as you can hear people smack the doors when they leave.

Price of the hotels were reasonable. Overall, this is premier inn needs updating fast but brilliant location.

I’ve stayed in lots of premier inn’s and always been impressed but this one was extremely poor by previous standards... bordering on shambolic at times.
The position of the hotel is very good and most sites are easily available, however..
The hotel room felt tired, the bathroom needed attention and the cleaning could have been better considering the current Covid issues, my 5 year old daughter found things around the bed from previous people.
For the duration of the stay the TV never worked, network issue allegedly, I say allegedly because I heard the staff tell customers varying reasons. To their credit they did give residents the premium WiFi however it was much better than the free.
On 2 occasions we asked for the room to be attended, both occasions were missed, trying to report this to reception was useless as the phone was never answered, I mean never!
The service at the bar wasn’t an improvement, on two occasions or order was wrong or given to a different person.
The last point, common sense would suggest to place families together to avoid the younger crowd who are in Cardiff for a different experience, our last night would suggest that wasn’t the case.. we had 2am drunken arguments going on, not great for my 2 small children.
Overall a disappointing experience and not in keeping with usual premier inn standards. I’d say give this hotel a miss if you’re looking for a family visit!

My two friends and I booked this for a night out (just the one night). We had booked the twin room so we had a double and a single for the three of us. (We didn’t want separate rooms). We were told on arrival that we couldn’t check in with what we had booked as their rule is only two ‘adults’ over 15 per room. Despite having a double and single bed in a room? I understand the ‘rule’ however, they were not all too great about it and told us they didn’t have any spare rooms to book us in. The women checking us in asked for the manager and he was awesome!!! So kind and understanding.

We then booked two breakfasts as one of us doesn’t eat food in the morning. I had a leftover croissant on my plate so my friend finished it off and then the waitress came over and told us she had to pay the extra £9.50 despite it just being leftover from my plate? Not paying £9.50 for a croissant?!? She was so rude and rolled her eyes at us and walked off... not very professional if you ask me.

It was real expensive for one night, and it is a good 15 min walk from all night life. There are much closer hotels if you can find one!

I like premier inn, but I did think our stay was overpriced, and would try stay elsewhere if I can.

Directly opposite of the busy Cardiff Queen Street Station and a major timing point bus stops, it is really handy to get to anywhere in the valleys. St. Davids shopping centre are only within 5 mins of walking, and there is a large amount of choices on food within 10 mins of walking. Back to the room, it got an adjustable air-conditioning, and I am really pleased with the bed, you will not wanted to get out of it unless absoultely necessary. Been there for 3 nights, quality-sleep approved. Room was clean, just need to wash the bathroom wall tiles better next time, got some soap on it(that's why 1 less star for cleanliness). I have asked for a room to spot trains, staff was friendly and immediately fulfilled my request. Check in was a bit busy at the time I arrived, but for check out, it is just dropping the key card into the recycle box. Remember that the key card will be deactivated around 11am the day you leave, I actually left a towel inside and have to ask a cleaning staff to help me open the door after trying the key card didn't work anymore. It cost me £3x for 1 night(Fri-bank holiday Mon), I would say this is worth it in my opinion. Really pleased, will be staying in a premier inn again soon.

We chose to stay at this hotel for a 4 night mid-week break having stayed every year since it has opened.

We checked in at 4pm having tried earlier but were told that due to covid cleaning was taking longer. As we had a table booked for dinner we unpacked, did some ironing, showered and went out.

We returned to the room at 11pm and went to bed only to experience the worst night sleep due to a very creaky uncomfortable bed and the air conditioning breaking. The next morning we noticed there was also no waste bin, skirting boards hanging off in the bathroom and bedroom and mould covered the bathroom ceiling.

I went to reception and after waiting 20 minutes for some one to come and give me attention joined the long breakfast queue as thought that way I could get to speak to someone. I was met by a very abrupt guy who said he was busy as they were short staffed but I insisted I speak to someone about my room.

He took me to reception and I explained the room was disgusting and he told me I should have complained during the night, is this policy? Are guests expected to complain at night? I think he was quite upset with me and said I needed to appreciate the hotel was 11 years old and 95% of rooms were like the one we were in. I was told to return at midday and he would see what he could do.

Two hours later at 1130am I returned and the same guy did say sorry but went on to tell me that they complained to head office about the rooms and beds but nobody’s listening. I said that wasn’t my problem and he found us a new room on eighth floor which was cleaner but obviously he was right as the creaking bed was just as bad.

This isn’t a clean hotel and doesn’t meet the company advertising of clean and comfortable and even the covid rules aren’t followed, with guest and staff (including cleaners) not wearing masks. Totally unacceptable when we are still in the middle of the pandemic or in fact at anytime.

We won’t ever stay here again and it is potentially putting us off other premier inns which is the brand we always use when travelling but this last experience has put us off.
