The dear old Angel was just the job for us. Glad to see that it hasn't fallen into too bad a state of repair .t These old hotels need constant attention and at the moment it is surviving fine. Bear in mind that Cardiff really is a party city these days and you are quite likely to run into a few groups enjoying themselves in the bar! If you don't like it just use your room! Our room was most satisfactory - a bit faded glory but the bed was comfortable , the bath and bog worked fine - what more does one need? The staff on reception were absolutely first rate in every respect- couldn't have been more helpful. Will I return? Certainly I will.

Great city centre location (albeit noisy on a Saturday night - the soundproofing was not what it could be). We both slept badly. Our bed was awful - the mattress was soft and lumpy, the pillows were hard and lumpy. Premier Inn offers a much better night’s sleep. The main staircase was lovely Art Deco. The rest of the betel is a bit shabby. The furniture was never high quality and hasn’t worn well. The shower was good, although in a bath behind a shower curtain. Much penny-pinching - no choice of tea in the room, unimpressive breakfast (no cappuccino, poor quality ingredients).

Nice hotel very friendly and welcoming ,it needs a bit of tlc but I realized this from my last stay.Good value but with investment could be so much better.Good food good location but closing castle Street means you need to be cleverer than me to find it first time !Only real downside was the two nights we were there they were resurfacing the road we were on from 9-00-6am,and although they gave us ear plugs it still felt like being in a cement mixer

The hotel is situated close to the train station bars and shops, all of the staff were very helpful and polite. My room was close to the lift, clean and had all that was required to make my stay comfortable. I ate in the restaurant for dinner and found the meal to be very good and well presented, in the morning there was a very wide choice to meet all tastes. I would love to visit again in the not to distant future, Thank you
