Detailed Reviews
This hotel provides very small rooms at a very small price. Two of us stayed in one room for three nights but did not spend much time in the room.
Unlike most Premier Inns, this hotel is not associated with an adjacent restaurant but it is within walking of a number of restaurants so this does not present a problem. The hotel does offer a good value limited choice breakfast.
On booking, I saw the notice saying one towel per person (unlike the usual two per person in a normal Premier Inn). I assumed that this meant per person per day but it meant per visit. So be careful with your towel or buy extra towels.
The reception staff were very helpful and friendly.
This is a very good hotel considering the price but probably not suitable or intended for a stay of more than a few days.

We did not expect much for the small amount we had paid, so were very pleasantly surprised upon entering our room to find how nice it was. The facilities were first class; tv, wi-fi, towels and linen, and a powerful shower that far exceeded expectations... infact, the only let down to our weekend stay was that unfortunately the hotel had not had it's delivery of alcohol for the bar, making their drinks selection extremely limited, spoiling what we had planned to be a quiet evening of drinks in the bar watching the free Sky Sports...

There's a lot of big pluses here and only a couple of negatives so i'll be clear that you should not be put off and give it a try as we had never done a pod style hotel before and it wasn't a total put off for us. First the positives, Staff, helpful and engaged, booking in quick and easy, room ready on time, bedding clean, good air con, TV (Only a few channels, but who comes away to watch TV), shower etc all in working order, minimal storage space but sufficient. Good communal areas, table football, Sky Sports, bar, good snack deals, machines and cooked to order, very decent breakfast deal. Negatives - Whilst bed and bedding and towels were clean, if the room had been cleaned prior to our check in it must have been done in a hurry. Carpet was not hoovered and bathroom definitely not cleaned, splash's at back of toilet and on walls. You can upgrade your experience, extra pillows etc but at a cost (Reminds me of Ryanair) and don't really think there is a need for it considering what is supplied. Now, we could have asked for the room to be cleaned however we read that the policy was for rooms to be cleaned every 3 days (On viewing that would seem to include changeover days). It would have been nice if the room had been thoroughly cleaned prior to check in. Free parking, easy to get into town via bus (ÂŁ4 all day ticket) or Taxi (ÂŁ12). So in summary consider the many pluses, not the couple of negatives.

This hotel is excellent for the price. However, when you book and you want a double bed ensure you ask at reception otherwise you will be given a single. Apparently they say there is glitch with system. If you want a lie in or want to make most of late checkout ask reception for a do not disturb or you will have housekeeping knocking.

Stayed from Friday to Tuesday (4 nights) with my 10 year old son in a twin room so will try to give a fair appraisal.
Staff: only spoke to two, one at check in and one when there was an issue with the vending machines. Staff polite and professional on each occasion.
Location: yes, it’s the back corner of an industrial estate but that meant it was quite with lots of parking. It was also easy to find with the satnav. Cardiff centre and bay were less than a 10 minute drive and there are plenty of shops, petrol stations and restaurants on the estate within walking distance.
The room: firstly I’ll say it was spotless. Had read reviews online suggesting cleanliness was an issue - it wasn’t.
The beds were two singles and initially I thought perhaps a bit narrow but this wasn’t the case. Very comfortable.
Lighting was great. We had no window which I’d have preferred but the colour changing light box is a good substitute. Lots of other lighting options and plenty of plug sockets.
The shower cubicle was spacious and shower had good pressure and temperature. Need some hooks for towels though. There was a screw in the wall outside the door...maybe this was a hook at some point?
Toilet and sink cubicle also an ok size but the loo roll holder could be higher as it sits just above the bin.
If sharing with a child or spouse the room is great but there is no privacy and the room are small so maybe no sharing with friends. My son said it’s like a modern caravan.
TV worked fine but the free wifi is terrible, very very slow and kept cutting out. 4g reception wasn’t great either.
Not much storage other than a shelf above one bed, maybe one on the other side would be good too.
Overall, very happy with the hotel and room and will stay again when retiring to Cardiff.

In general, the rooms are tiny and the cost is very enticing, however I would not recommend this hotel due to issues with cleanliness.
There is supposed to be a cleaning every 4 days, however this did not take place during the 10 days we were there. We asked them repeatedly to do so do. Once they only provided towels, another time they only changed a single bed's sheets (they left the other one as-is), and they never vacuumed or cleaned the bathroom by themselves. After repeated requests over several days, and despite getting assurances that it will be done, (by the duty manager, Liam), it took several days of our chasing for them to do so. I understand that this is a budget hotel but if there is a rule that cleaning will be done every 4 days, then I would expect that to be done as promised.

We were pleasantly surprised the Premier zip hotel in Cardiff was great. The pod-like room and en-suite was great, everything we needed and very clean and quiet all for an amazing price of ÂŁ21. Would have liked to have tired the restaurant and food but it was closed due to covid restrictions. Will def stay again

Check in was super. Liam was very helpful and made sure our request for a real daylight window was granted. We were a bit concerned about spending 3 nights with a light-box window so this was helpful.
Only one towel for 2 of us for 3 nights but again Liam helped and gave us an extra, also showed us to free tea and coffee facilities as no kettle in room. Unfortunately they do not give cups out so the free refreshments are useless unless you nip off to Morrisons and buy a mug or have the forethought to fetch one.
Rooms are incredibly small, width of a small motorhome and you feel like you are in a motorhome or ships cabin at best , shower cubicle big enough if you stand still , and watch the step in and out as my daughter fell several times, quite dangerous given its glass doors each side. Be quick in the shower, they flood !! Water flows faster than it can drain away, we were mopping up first day with a bathmat ! If you are a private person you won’t want to use the toilet in the room as the doors have gaps at the top, you can hear, see and smell everything the other person does. Not great at all. Rooms clean and adequate for a night if using solely as a bed and place to wash. 3 nights took its toll, felt quite claustrophobic and had to leave the room several times as you can only slither around the bed to stretch legs. Corridors made me quite dizzy with the carpets and twists and turns but thats just nit picking. Take a dim nightlight if you dont want to sleep in pitch black and I mean pitch black and there is no dim lighting. TV lacks signal strength and could only get 3 channels. Beds are 2 singles pushed together and single quilts, make your own bed on arrival, and very firm, not like usual premier inn standards at all. No storage, you get 4 hangers on the wall and an over-bed shelf but you can push cases under the bed. Rooms are well insulated, the aircon was welcomed, noticed how quiet the room was and it was fully booked the nights we stayed so this is a plus ! Plenty of free parking and covered by cctv. Overall I sound quite negative but want this post to help others. Would I stay again ? Yes but only if everything else was fully booked and only for one night. It serves a purpose with no frills at all but I guess the price reflects everything I’ve said.

The rooms in the hotel was small but quirky. Going into this hotel I didn't know what to expect especially because the price was so low. However, after arriving at the hotel. I soon noticed that the hotel itself is very safe (driving barriers in the entrance and security room card access for each floor). The rooms itself were amazing! The design and layout of the room was very thought out with a toilet and a shower being in individual parts. The LED panel in the room, gives a very cool touch to the room and allows the guest to change the colour. The location of this hotel is only 2 miles away from Cardiff St davids shopping centre (around 5 minute travel journey).
The only issue I had was that a double room consist of 2 single beds pushed together which meant that if there were 2 people sharing a 'double' bed you would slide down Inbetween the 2 single mattresses. Another minor disadvantage to this hotel was that I didn't get any phone service in my room. Although this was managed by the hotel offering free WiFi.
Overall: GREAT stay, GREAT Location and GREAT price!

We used the zip as couples to watch a band in the motor point arena after missing the boat on anywhere near reasonably priced hotels in centre. We paid ÂŁ26 per room on a Saturday in comparison to 80 for the cheapest city centre hotel.
The location is not too bad, taxis are needed to get to the centre but were only around a tenner each way. Lots of parking available.
Check in was quick and easy, reception and bar area are bright and comfy.
Rooms are small but clean and absolutely fine for a night or 2.
I would stay here again for sure, had a great experience and saved a few quid.
