Modern, well equippped rooms with a great breakfast and a wonderful coffee machine in the Rest Area. Good, helpful staff, cleanliness ids to a high standard. Breakfast was excellent and food was frequently re-stocked. Not worthy of 5 stars, though, due to the following: a. the proximity of the smoking area to the entrance - it is archaic for the smoking area to be so close to the entrance, we had to deviate massively to avoid the smokers (which includes the Staff). The smoking litter is extremely unattractive - despite the presence of a bin, smokers literally dump their litter in the smoking area next to the bin! I would advise move the smoking area well away from the entrance or close it down altogether. It's 2023 after all. b. General litter around the hotel - the paths next to the water are overgrown with weeds and there is more litter (including fag butts) on all the paths around the hotel. Arguably this is the responsibility of the council but if the hotel wanted to be a 5 star residence, someone could be tasked daily to carry out a litter pick. c. Location - in a slightly run down area, litter in the canals, graffiti etc on underpasses and hooded youths - involved with drugs - hanging around on the path into the city centre. Overall I enjoyed my stay but to become first class the Hotel needs to work harder on the issues I've raised.…
Good size rooms. Very modern with a great walk in shower. All towels and amenities were provided. Kitchen area in the room had a small oven (two shelves) with a dishwasher, fridge and sink. They provided all cutlery, clothes and dishwashing supplies. Iron, ironing board and safe in the wardrobe. Free breakfast was good, bacon, sausage, eggs, beans & tomatoes on the hot food. Pastries, fruit, yoghurt and cereal also available. Tea, coffee and juice provided.
Excellent location for town centre and Cardiff arena, about 10 minute walk or 5 minutes drive. Exceptionally clean and fantastic buffet breakfast. Lovely comfy bed and so quiet. Excellent nights sleep. Receptionist friendly and helpful. We will definitely book to go there again
Had a really nice stay in a King Suite on our honeymoon. Good location for Cardiff Bay and walkable to the city centre. Room was clean and comfortable and the shower was great. Extra marks for providing separate shower gel, shampoo and conditioner instead of an all in one. I didn't get his name unfortunately, but the gentleman on reception who checked us in and out was very pleasant and made us feel very welcome. The only reason I haven't given it 5 is that breakfast was a bit awkward, the layout of trying to get food from the buffet was a bit tricky as you had to pass people making tea and we struggled to find a decent seat. We'd stay again but either bring breakfast to make in the room or go out for it.
I’ve stayed in a number of Staybridge hotels around the country and this was my least favourite. The hotel was very basic. I was underwhelmed by our deluxe suite as what I paid for did not reflect the quality and for the same price, I would of received a much nicer suite at the London or Manchester branches. There were no instructions on how to use the oven. Only until asked at the front desk we found out the microwave was combined with the oven. The showers was terrible!! However, the receptionist do offer us the shower in the next room but we thought the hassle of taking our toiletries and clean clothes to next room wasn’t worth it so we endured the cold water. Breakfast was minimal but the dining area was relaxing due to there not being a busy breakfast rush Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the this hotel for a relaxing stay but would be good if in Cardiff for a concert/match and just need somewhere to sleep for a few hours.…
I really wanted to give these suites a 5* review, because they are gorgeous and the finish is superb, however, upon arrival we waited 10 minutes for any member of staff to appear, when asked if we could book in we were told "NO, you can check in at 4pm", I explained we had an early check in from 1-2pm, but the answer was still no, until the person noticed the group of people in reception with us who all also had early check-in. He then went across to the Holiday Inn Express and came back around another 10 minutes later to tell us the receptionist was too busy over there and she would get to us when it was quiet. A further 10minutes passed and the receptionist appeared. This lady was very apologetic, had excellent customer service skills and eased the tense atmosphere at having to wait around 30+minutes to check in. Check-in was then very prompt and we went off to our room. Our room was stunning as they always are in a Staybridge suite, the view was very nice too. If I am brutally honest, even with the very long inconvenient and should not have happened wait, we will be returning and would recommend to everyone. Breakfast in the morning was good too, we went at the busiest time and there was plenty of food, although seating could have been an issue if any busier. Very clean and tidy everywhere in and outside of the rooms. Aside from the check-in drama with the rude member of staff clearly wanting people to not check-in till 4pm and really not wanting to resolve the situation, the staff and in particular the receptionist where friendly, very helpful and professional. That is a bit of a ramble and I know I keep harping back to the check-in but this is still angering me some 2 weeks on, but more the attitude of the particular member of staff, which is such a huge shame as everything else is and was perfect. So if you are looking for affordable high end luxury, this is the place, and you won't be disappointed.…
Our suite, which is like an up-market bedsit, was comfortable and clean. As we stayed during a heatwave, the room air conditioning was very efficient, relatively quiet and very welcome. Whilst our balcony overlooked the wharf/water, the constant drone from the road traffic/road noise opposite on the Central link road limited our wish to stay out. Breakfast ok/average. Location is about 15 minute walk from both the Bay and City Centre. Taxis readily available £5-£7 into the city. Secure car park was a big factor in choice of this hotel.
I would highly recommend this hotel ! Spotlessy clean, comfy bed and everything you need in the room. Breakfast is not to be missed, buffet style with a range of options. Parking was an additional £10 but didn’t mind as it was a secure car park.
We stayed here for 6 weeks, me, my husband, 1 year old and dog. East access to Cardiff bay and also Cardiff city area. The reception staff, shout out to Bailey, are amazing and Karen the general manager runs a tight ship. Nothing was too much trouble for them, including signing for my million parcels which arrived to the hotel. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with balcony, which was modern, clean and super comfortable with excellent a/c in the lounge area, along with a fully equipped kitchen. We were able to work remotely from this property too with ease Breakfast is basic but it's fine, although the sausages were a bit ropey, even my puppy turned his nose up🤣 Was not able to access features of a smart TV such as Netflix, prime video so bring your Firestick! Thank you for making our stay enjoyable and for all your help. Ruth…
Great hotel, fab location, clean rooms, great kitchen area, amazing balconies looking over the dock. Wonderful staff and a great breakfast… though an unusual serve yourself youth hostel vibe about the place. You’ll understand if you visit. But all in all it’s great and we would return.
