From the moment we arrived we were met by freindly staff who made our stay better our Anniversary break starting with a complimentary bottle of prosecco the when we went to our room which was upgraded when we entered the room the bed was full of rose petals which was lovely. The room was very comfortable, there was a large shower and a separate bath big enough for two, the breakfast wasn't the best but we did go down 30 minutes before the end of service.

Hotel's Favourite
The hotel is in an excellent location for all of Cardiff. The facilities are brilliant with gym, pool and spa all available to guests. The customer service is excellent with all staff so willing to make the stay as easy and welcoming as possible. (Sunjan was particularly helpful with any questions I had)

We have stayed at Mecure Cardiff a number of times but this will be the last. Things appear to have slipped badly. The signs were not good right from the start. When we arrived at reception there was no-one around - a few minutes later a receptionist appeared to tell us they had no reservation in our name. After much searching the "mistake" was rectified - off to our room on floor 9. To be fair the rooms are very large and give great views across the city but the décor looked tired. Our deal included "A bottle of prosecco in your room". No sign. Down to reception and another wait. This turns into "collect from the bar". Another wait and then told there is no prosecco in the hotel and the only white they have is Chardonnay! A promise was made to further look and come to our room with the result. Still waiting. We had booked for dinner but cancelled fearing similar service. Such a shame - little things mean a lot when service is concerned.

Very disappointing stay. The fridge in my room (Room 614) is broken (I wasn’t notified this at all before checking in) so when I found out about this, the staff brought in a bucket of ice for me to put my food & drinks in... He was trying to be helpful but this is very inconvenient as the ice melted over the night and everything was dripping in the morning. Whilst the reception knew all about this and the next day was saying it was very hard to put me in another room as there was the football team staying that weekend... So I was simply given a plastic Spa bag and asked to put my food & drinks in it and brought them to the 1st floor to store them in the bar fridge there. Sorry but this is not even decent. On Sunday morning around 10am, I went to the 1st floor bar & restaurant area to get a coffee. It literally took the guy 20+ mins to have the coffee machine cleaned before it would be able to serve again. Apparently they were not prepared at all. I could not wait any longer so did not get anything in the end but left in the heavy rain! Considering it is a 4 star hotel, there’s far better that can be done.

We booked to stay here for my Hen Party. We weren’t by any means a rowdy hen party but we used this as our base and enjoyed the spa. The staff in the spa and the cleaning staff were great. No problems with them at all. We booked out stay through secret escapes which included a bottle of Prosecco on arrival. When we arrived we were told by reception that we couldn’t check in until 3 and that a triple room had not been sorted for us and we would have to pay extra. Luckily I had all the paperwork which showed we could check in at 2 and a triple room HAD been arranged in advance at no extra cost. The same receptionist then asked us to pay for our rooms despite the fact I had paid in advance. Again I showed her the paperwork. We were offered no apology, just given our room keys and told we had to collect our Prosecco at the restaurant. Not ideal but there we are. The next day we went for breakfast which was included in the room cost. After eating our breakfast my friend and I walked over to get a cup of tea which took about a minute and when we returned our table was cleared - including my phone which I had left purposefully to show we were coming back. I asked a staff member who said someone else had cleared the table and it must be behind the bar. It was given back but again no apology was offered. We went back to our room and the entry card was deactivated. I went downstairs to reception to get it reactivated and asked if this would cause problems for the others girls (we had 3 rooms booked). I was told no, that we must have put our room cards next to our mobiles and that the others rooms would be fine. Again no apology. We let the other girls know just incase and sure enough all the cards had been deactivated which showed that the original receptionist from the previous day had obviously only checked us in for one night (we had booked 2) and the receptionist that reactivated my cards first didn’t check the other rooms and just assumed. After a visit to the spa we decided to go back to the room to order room service. When we got back to our room we noticed there was no room service menu so my friend we to reception to ask for one. She was told she would have to get one from the restaurant as they didn’t have them in reception. She walked to the restaurant and was told they only had one copy and she would need to take a photo of it on her phone, which she had left in the room. Eventually they gave her a copy and she brought it back with her. Once we decided what to order we called room service to be told that it wasn’t available until 6-7pm - we hadn’t been told this when looking for the menu. Again no apology. What made this worse was about half an hour later I heard a knock at the door opposite and mistook it for our door. When I opened the door there was a man stood there who explained he had knocked at the room opposite and when I looked down he was carrying a room service tray. When we first came to our room our television wasn’t working and we reported this. We had no apology from reception however the man that came to fix it was great and he apologised and sorted it out straight away. Also when we needed extra loo roll the cleaner brought us plenty and were lovely. The staff in the spa were great and gave us extra towels and explained how to use the spa. They were lovely. This hotel experience was ruined by the reception staff! They didn’t seem to care and had no customer service skills at all! Very disappointed!
