I love this place. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious with all the facilities needed and the hotel has character. Easy access to Cardiff centre on foot and opposite Pontcana fields. Very safe area. Free parking and good free wifi. This hotel offers excellent value for money.

A beautifully-conserved house in the magnificent Cathedral Road. A good friendly welcome, and nicely maintained communal areas. First night in a well-appointed room, thereafter downstairs in a less well-maintained room which was still very adequate. Good breakfast in a wonderful high-ceilinged Victorian room. Service on most mornings was excellent and attentive, everything attended to and freshened up throughout. The last...

Set on the long cathedral road which is about a mile from the castle and the city centre, we stayed for two nights and Janet is a brilliant host. We arrived late as we got caught up in our journey yet the host was welcoming, helpful and polite. Its a very large hotel and the decor may be different from...

Stayed twice at this location, friendly staff and having stayed in room 4 + 6 on the ground floor I was offered a choice of rooms after the double ensuite didn't suit I was made welcome and had a nice quiet break for 3 days. The hotel is located very close to Cardiff castle, just ten minutes walking from city centre. Our room was clean and spacious, we had very nice sleep cause of the comfortable bed and quiet place. Next morning we had breakfast at the hotel, everything was delicious and fresh. I strongly recommend this hotel for a lovely weekend in Cardiff.

We booked a room here as it's close to the city centre, we called the penrhys the night before arriving to check and ensure our booking was correct and was told by a guy that all was well. After a three hour journey from home we arrived to find there was no room key, then when we were given one...

I apologise for the overbooking however I had our manager ring 8 hotels to find accommodation ended up booking you in our sister hotel opposite!! I was at a charity event and spent 2 hours ringing the welsh badminton association to find out why the Malaysian players had left all their cases in the room! I finally got in contact...

Good location, ten minutes walk from town centre. The room was clean but disappointing. The decor was very dated, and there were several small problems such as the bathroom door not shutting, and the taps loose so they rotated when you turned them on. The kettle spout had a large chip out of it. Cannot comment on breakfast as it...

Stayed the night here as we were visiting a friend in Cardiff. Good location, clean & tidy room with a cute little shower room & a four poster bed! Decor is deeply oldy fash but adds to the hotel's ambience. Vinyl on shower room floor desperately needs replacing but that's a minor point. Good night's kip in comfy bed &...

Enjoyed staying here in a beautiful building that originally was a top end villa in a tree lined avenue in central Cardiff.Internally it is clean but needs renovation.Decor is tired and very old, lots of stained glass and fancy fittings from the early 20th century. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Good value for money in top location.
