A poor example of a well placed Holiday Inn. The room was unfortunately very poorly cleaned . There were stains on the bedside tables from mugs and glasses . Something had also been spilled on one . The same for the furniture unit . The chair was badly stained . Even though it calls itself a ultra cleaned , covid safe hotel. Around the inside window frame there was a considerable amount of black mould , particularly in the corners . Finally , the was no anti slip mat for the shower. When I reported it. There was no offer to get me one . I requested an additional towel and was given 6 , ‘just in case you don’t see us again’ was what the housekeeper said . The restaurant was fair if late at night with no other option . I chose not to have breakfast the 2nd day. I would not recommend this motel to anyone despite the proximity to the M4 . Anyone’s money can do far better elsewhere and I would suggest they do that. I have emailed the manager directly and I have emailed the front desk for the attention of the general manager and in 6 weeks have not received an acknowledgement. I will not stay in a Holiday Inn property anywhere in the world in future because of this experience and lack of concern by the general management.

Stayed here 3 years ago and all was well. Stayed two nights and found the hotel looking extremely tired and devoid of any atmosphere. The lobby chairs were badly stained and the lobby ceiling had lots of water leak stains. The problems with the room were noticed over the course of our stay - we weren’t looking for fault just a place to rest. The room boasted numerous long, dark hairs on and in the bed - yuck! Upon arrival the room was cold, putting the heating on served to create pouring condensation on the windows. The walls around the windows were black with mould. The bathroom ceiling was covered with mould, the bedroom carpet was sticky - again yuck! We had a busy weekend of late finishes and early starts so couldn’t face the upheaval of a room change. Having said that, I did try to complain at reception on our first morning, albeit at 5.30am, but it was deserted. Evening meal was average at best. Staff appear young and inexperienced - no evidence of any supervision or direction. Will not be staying in a holiday inn again.

We booked for a two night stay this weekend. We have visited several hotels in Cardiff we thought we would try this hotel out. At £350 for 2 nights it’s not cheap. We checked in late and reception staff were polite and helpful. The hotel was full, nether less the staff were attentive and we were given directions to room. Walking to room we noticed the hotel decor is tired, the lift floor is absolutely filthy. We entered the room and were hit with an awful smell, knowing the hotel was full we had no option but to open the window and ventilate as best we could. We went straight to bed, woke the next morning in agony as the bed was so uncomfortable. We had booked our slot at the swimming the night before and decided to get breakfast early so we could make the most of our stay in the pool. Breakfast - very basic , one self service coffee/tea machine for the 60 person time slot ( we later found another coffee machine the other side of reception- but this would be a difficult option at breakfast as it’s the other side of the room). Staff were non existent , the hot food was manned by one member of staff who also doubled up as plate clearer and re filler. Popular items such as fried eggs or bacon were quickly used up and empty. The queue for the eggs was at one point was 8 deep, very slow service as these were painfully replenished at 5 eggs per time and by the time I got my eggs my bacon and sausage was stone cold! Swimming pool - after breakfast we quickly changed and headed for the pool….. what a nightmare. The swimming pool didn’t look look the website , it turned out to be a grotty and very small pool. The pool was at the deepest shoulder deep, with only the last metre or so deep enough for an adult to feel like you were swimming in anything other than a paddling pool. The water was warm which was nice but the tiles were cracked and but a nasty brown colour around the edges. After 5 minutes I got out ( I was the only person there ) and left. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were all out of action ( the hotel said this was due to covid but as I said we have visited many hotels recently in Cardiff and they all seemed to be able to offer these facilities!!) Back in our room, we phones reception and made our complaint and asked to be refunded for one of the two nights as we wanted to leave early , the receptionist spoke to the manger and reassured us she would get back to me. True to her word, she called back and told me she was very sorry our experience had been so bad - they refunded both nights. So, all in all, we paid nothing but it was worth nothing… We will not come back .

Hi Joanne2106, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us We want you to have an outstanding time while visiting us. I am sorry the cleanliness of the room, breakfast encounter, and hotel pool encounter were anything less than exceptional. We'd love to share your comments with the relevant department for review, and I trust that improvement in guest satisfaction will be kept in mind. I also sent you a private message to ask for more information about your stay. On a positive note, it's good to learn the hotel management addressed the issues amicably. Thank you again for the review. I look forward to your response. Warm regards, Zel N. Case Manager IHGService

Rooms were ok but why a put-you-up bed was left up, when it wasn't needed is a mystery to me. Service in the restaurant was poor. Many New staff who were clueless really! The food in the restaurant was cooked and presented well but on each of the 3 evenings that we ate there certain foods on the menu were unavailable and the same goes for the drinks . No lemonade even any evening that we were there! There were several mistakes made on the bill for the food. One evening we were charged £ 10 more than we should have been. Finally on our return home, we received a bill from Parking Eye to say that we had been charged for parking . We had registered our car with the hotel but were unaware that you had to register with parking Eye, so that still needs to be sorted - an unnecessary inconvenience that I hope can be rectified quickly. All in all a disappointing stay in Cardiff.

Stayed last weekend with a friend and our pre-teen daughters for a “girls weekend” of shopping and gossiping! Chose this hotel solely because it had a pool. Unfortunately we were unable to use the pool on the Sunday morning - we’d booked to use it at 10am, but the hotel had forgotten to chlorinate the pool and therefore it was unsafe to use. There were swimming lessons booked in at 11am, so we were unable to delay our session. We stayed dinner, bed and breakfast. Can’t fault the food. Breakfast was all good and as expected. Dinner the evening before exceeded expectations. Room was comfortable. Found a old sock in the bottom of the wardrobe... (yuck)! The hotel is tired and needs some tlc. Dirty crockery left outside of rooms for over 12 hours. I knew this wasn’t a five star luxury hotel; if the pool had been available then I would have been a lot happier as this was the only reason for staying in this particular hotel. Otherwise we’d have stayed in a premier inn in the city centre and saved our money for more shopping! Staff were all friendly.
