#9 of 23 hotels in Swansea
In line with local government recommendations, we have closed the restaurant and bar in our hotel. Where possible, we are providing room service or grab and go options for guests. The Ibis Swansea Bay hotel, featuring 99 modern rooms, a restaurant and a bar, is ideally situated in the heart of the SA1 waterfront development. The hotel is just five minutes from centre of the city of Swansea and its cafe and bar district, a ten to fifteen minutes drive to tourist attractions such as the Dylan Thomas Centre, the Grand Theatre, the National Maritime Museum as well as Gower Peninsula and its award winning beaches. Free car parking is available to hotel guests.

We were looking for a place few days staycation. We chose Swansea as we had not been there for a number of years and in fact had stayed at the same hotel. We were wondering how much the venue had changed, assuming that at least the décor would be different. We were very pleasantly surprised. I am a member of the Accor brand of hotels ALL scheme and although this is an IBIS hotel I would say that it could almost be an Ibis Styles (which is the next brand up). Check in was smooth and staff at reception friendly. Our room was on the ground floor which was no problem as it was quiet. The room was a nice size and very tastefully decorated. The bar area is very light and airy and selection of drinks was good, some very good local bottled beers. The venue is situated outside of Swansea and as we had come by train had a 25 minute walk but for most people who arrive by car there appears to be plenty of car parking. I would certainly recommend this hotel to others.

We were on an overnight stay to visit my parents grave at Skewan. We were greeted warmly by reception. Room was clean. Dinner was great loved the Chicken starter and pie. Nice touch was the apple slices tossed in lemon juice prepared by the Chef after the meal. We need to come down to Swansea again in the summer and we will definitely stay here again.

While using public car charger, fined 100GBP for incorrect parking! Swansea area otherwise ok; Swansea is a coastal city and principal area in the preserved county of West Glamorgan, Wales. The principal area is officially known as the City and County of Swansea. Swansea, which includes Swansea Bay and the Gower Peninsula, is on the southwest coast of Wales and within the historic county boundaries of Glamorgan and the ancient Welsh commote of Gŵyr. Swansea is the second largest city in Wales and the twenty-fifth largest city in the United Kingdom. Swansea is the second most populous local authority area in Wales with a population of est. 312,872 in 2021.

For a “budget” hotel it does well, the room was clean, modern and the bed comfortable. The bathroom is a wet room which is good if you don’t slip, a working extractor would have helped too. We had dinner there, a very basic menu but not at all bad. Breakfast was buffet style with a lot of variety and very enjoyable. Maintenance would be useful as the toilet roll holder didn’t.

Room Tip: Parking is good, for a quiet night ask for a room away from Fabian Way.

I was in Swansea for a XC race in November 2019. As the official hotel was full so I opted for this one which was a 15 minute walk to the centre. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The lift was out of order for the whole weekend but I was on floor one. Free welcome drink was great introduction to bar area. A little too far from centre for those like me without wheels.
