This is an amazing hotel in the City centre of Belfast. The rooms are fantastic, but its the friendly staff that make this hotel special. We stayed on the second floor and it was lovely and quiet (art-deco) for the three days we were there.

We had decided upon a small wedding and chose the private dining room just off the great hall. This was the old bank manager's office and was a perfect choice. It gave us privacy and grandeur. The whole experience was wonderful, from arriving to the red carpet treatment to seeing our room at the end of the day. The food...

We were treated to lunch here as a Christmas present by our children but only got around to it now. We expected it to be expensive and pretentious which is the reason it is there. We were not disappointed. It was suitably pretentious and very, very expensive and was certainly different. The service by the staff was second to none...

Moved here for the second night of a two-night trip to Belfast. Entire family loved the whole place. Staff very friendly, facilities excellent, outdoor, sixth-floor hot tube etc. etc. Highly recommended. REAL OASIS.

Without a shadow of doubt, this hotel is the best I've stayed in the whole of Ireland. We have always headed South towards Dublin or Galway when we can get away for a break but decided on the Merchant for a change this time. From the moment we walked to the door where we were met by a very friendly...

This hotel has a lot to recommend it, location, facilities, value, food quality and accessibility. But in my mind its the terrific positive friendly attitude of its staff that make this a five star venue. Only negative is parking and finding the entrance which is at the side of the hotel so you miss the lovely old bank entrance.

The room was stunning but very tiny for price. Jacuzzi facilities are good. We had dinner in Berts Jazz bar which I would not recommend. Breakfast was beautiful. I found staff very formal rather that welcoming. The hotel really is stunning but overpriced in my opinion. The high charge for parking the car at hotel is really ridiculous, should be...

As a special treat we stayed in the Merchant - a mere 6 miles from home - after the Rick Astley concert in March. The hotel was fabulous - 5 star treatment all the way. The bar staff in the residents bar have to come in for special praise though as well - nothing was too much bother. Thoroughly recommend!

Strongly recommend choosing another hotel when visiting Belfast. We had a lovely stay at the Fitzwilliam in Dublin and wish their Belfast hotel wasn't booked while we are here in the city. The Merchant will nickel and dime you for every dollar (pound) before and during your visit starting from the online bookings. Not to mention the rude hostess at...

I had booked the Merchant as a surprise birthday treat for my boyfriend. From the moment we arrived everything was fantastic. When we checked in we were accompanied to our room where our bags were already delivered. We had an art deco room and it was really beautiful. Everything has been done with fantastic taste. Our bed was huge and...
