We have been long term customers of the Mariner and go for food regularly. Over the years there have been a number of changes. The daily specials for food and the staple menu remain a constant. The hotel houses Atlantis their speciality fish restaurant and has done for many years. On our last visit a couple of weeks ago I...

We arrived in the middle of the evening after a long journey and were quickly registered, shown to our room and promptly went down for dinner. We stayed at the Mariner to be close to a family birthday party. My daughter and granddaughter who caught up with us as we ate our breakfast were welcomed to join us by the...

We booked the admiral 501 family suite for a weekend break with the kids. It was far more than we had expected. It had a kitchen area, with fridge , microwave ,kettle and proper coffee machine with filter coffee to use. The bathroom had a corner bath and a separate shower. The bedroom itself had a king sized bed in...

Very comfortable hotel providing a great breakfast but less impressive evening meal. All of the staff that we encountered were very helpful. Convenient and free parking. Location quite close to city centre and to main roads north and south.

Warmly greeted on arrival, assisted with bag. Somewhat dated decor wise, however spotlessly clean. A few nice wee finishing touches(little things mean a lot) GOOD quality bathroom products ie. soap shampoo etc, and tea making facility with delish biccys. Decent breakfast selectiontoo. Smashing big car park.and a really good bus service at the door. I did not have dinner, the restaurant...

The Mariner hotel has a very traditional feel about it. Decor dates back to the eighties with flounced curtains, pine furniture and patterned carpets. Almost a retro feel. You can choose to eat in the restaurant but on this midweek night we sat in the comfortable bar area. The menu is varied with lots of specials, tried and tested basics...

I have been visiting The Mariner Hotel for over a decade, both for meals and drinks and, occasionally to stay. The standard is consistently excellent. It is comfortable, has a welcoming ambiance, always seems to find good and friendly staff, and the meals and drinks are great quality and very good value for money. Of all the scores of hotels...

The Mariner is one of these places we had spoken about going to but never quite got around to visiting. If you are saying the same go along now! The food is amazing- freshly cooked, beautifully presented and served in a spacious traditional room by friendly helpful waiting staff. The specials for the night were well planned varied options- the...

Would have enjoyed my stay at this hotel if it was not for one woman. All the rest of the staff were great but this ill mannered woman was terrible. Monday night in the hotel was really enjoyable good food and great staff. Tuesday breakfast was just ok (the afore mentioned woman was serving). Wednesday I skipped beakfast as I...

Had a bar supper here at the Cape Horn bar last night. My friend and I both had the chilli cheese nachos which are in the small portion bit of the menu, so we had chips and onion rings also. It was so lovely and both plates were cleared. Onion rings are homemade and absolutely gorgeous. 2 meals, chips, onion...
