We stayed here from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th. Hotel is in a great location within walking distance from town centre. Food was lovely and all staff during our stay were brilliant they all work so hard and nothing was ever a problem to them. Our room was very small not much room, lighting in the rooms could be brighter...

We visited for Afternoon Tea having purchased an Itison voucher. Please make sure that you make your reservation the requested 24hrs in advance! I mentioned to the receptionist who took my phone all approximately 10am that I realised that it was very short notice, but would they manage to fit us in using the voucher. She was initially extremely curt...

Thank you for your review, please accept my apologies for the curt response whilst making the booking using your voucher. This is certain not the usual response to accepting a booking, however we do limit the volume of vouchers per day and I expect the person answering the phone was checking the current bookings already confirmed. I will certainly bring...

Stayed here this week and booked a "superior" room as it was part of Valentines night. The room was tiny and crammed into an odd part of the building. When i say there was a slope on the floor of the room i cant explain how bad this actually was, the base of the bedside table was touching the wall...

Thank you for your review and disappointing to read your comments on the size and decor of the room. In order for me to investigate further could you drop me a line on the date of stay and the name it was booked under to elaine@carmelitehotels.com.

Well I've stayed here before and found it really good. Food is really nice and the rooms are spot on. The only down side tonight was having just finished my evening meal and having the watch one of the staff pick his nose and just flick it on the carpet!! I'm really glad I'd finished eating my meal. Just went...

Thank you for your review, and sincere apologies for the issues you encountered with a staff members personal hygiene. A full retaining session on personal hygiene is already underway with the whole food & beverage team.

We had our Christmas staff party here and everyone were very surprised and satisfied at how planned and organised everything was! We chose to have 20s Prohibition/Gatsby Themed evening package which included a welcome fizz, entertainment and 3 course dinner. Could not fault anything at all, from the moment we stepped in the hotel to the glamorously decorated dining room...

Fantastic to read - the 1920's is certainly one of the most popular and well received events that we run. I am sure we can welcome you back soon to one of our other events.

Lovely hotel and seems quite busy. Our room was nice and clean but didn't sleep very well on the first night because of the noise of seagulls all night. We stayed for 2 nights and had breakfast each morning. We had cooked breakfast which was very nice apart from the second morning the chef was a bit heavy handed with...

Thank you for your review, disappointing you felt the staff were very slow. If possible could you email me on Elaine@carmelitehotels.com with your dates of stay and I can investigate further?

Me and my friend had a voucher for "afternoon tea" to not know it was to be printed off and be greeted with attitude that we only had it on our phones and it "needed" to be emailed which was fair enough but for the waitress to be impatient and rushing my friend when she was trying to email it....

Thank you for your comments and very disappointing read we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. We are in the process of recruiting additional restaurant management staff to assist with improving the customer care & service. I can only apologise at this stage and I am sure we are well underway to getting this resolved through staff training.

Went here using a voucher scheme, for afternoon tea. To be honest we were expecting it to be better than we got. The tea/coffee arrived quickly although there was no choice of teas on offer and when the cake stand came it was really quite pedestrian. We had been expecting something more unusual and different. The sandwiches, while tasty, had...

Thank you for your comments, the afternoon tea on the voucher deals are the "classic afternoon tea" which is the entry point offer and priced accordingly. We have the Scrumptious offer which is probably more what you are looking for. The "free from" range we do we purposely leave in the packaging to demonstrate they are the cakes suitable for...

Went on a Christmas deal. Excellent value and although a very busy Saturday lunch the service was excellent as were the 5 lite bites. A bit of trouble getting the bill correct due, unusually, to under charging. Victoria especially was most helpful and very pleasant. We will go again soon.

A well placed hotel and with a bar and food, the room was perfectly acceptable. It was not especially memorable but fair all round, clean, enough 'stuff' in the room. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Carmelite is neatly positioned in the centre of Aberdeen's Merchant Quarter, which is adjacent to the transport hub of rail, bus, coach stations and harbour. The Merchant Quarter is the "grown up" area of the city, full of independent bars and restaurants, and surrounded by the city's 5 under-cover retail shopping centres. An historical Grade B listed building dating back to mid 1800's, Carmelite has undergone major refurbishment program over recent years, introducing a boutique environment on the ground floor of Carmelite Bar & Grill, whilst the 50 bedrooms offer a mix of "Designer" Suites and rooms on the 1st floor, "Dapper" rooms refurbished end of 2012, on the 2nd floor and comfortable standard rooms on the 3rd floor. These enable attractive rates to suit all budgets. Aberdeen is a commercial city, with limited accommodation mid-week, however weekends offer some fantastic deals making an alternative visitor experience very affordable. The 6 Suites are all different, and very quirky - from round beds in turrets, and gigantic sleigh beds, all designer rooms have cast iron baths, monsoon showers. The "Dapper" rooms have un-cluttered designs with a mix of large monsoon shower rooms, double ended steel baths (some designed with 'no taps'), and black-out window blinds. All the bespoke furniture in these rooms were made by A social Enterprise Company in Dundee, called Dovetail. The 3rd floor standard rooms, although not yet refurbished, offer clean, comfortable accommodation, still with all the usual amenities. All rooms have luxury beds made locally by Social Enterprise Aberdeen Company called Glencraft. Designer "Anatomicals" or "Keiji" bath products, 32/40" LED Samsung Freeview TVs, as well as clocks, iPhone docking stations, tea/coffee making facilities, and most rooms with iron and ironing boards. A room service menu is available during restaurant times. The ground floor also is a boutique environment, quirky with a large open plan lounge and dining area, with informal comfy sofas, a Baby Grand Piano playing at weekends, and a dining 4 Poster Bed. The comprehensive bar menu offers superb cocktails, 12 champagnes, and extensive wine and drinks as well as a bar nibbles food options. Menus cover breakfast and brunch from a "Wake Up till Noon" menu, then an A'la Carte "All Day Menu" available from 12noon through till dinner. There is a Shoppers Menu available till 5pm each day with £8 main courses, and a Market Menu options each evening. There are two event rooms, Library and Balmoral for delegates up to 120, private dining to 50 diners, and Mad Hatter Tea Parties from 20 people. Intoxicating Afternoon Teas are a specialty, as well as Rock & Roll Parties in the 4 Poster Bed. Free wi-fi is available throughout the building, with a PC available for guests' use in the library. ... more   less
