Had a great stay in October, 2021. Views from the room are stunning and property is short walk to town for shopping and dining. Breakfast was in a bucket but it was plentiful and we enjoyed it in our room with bayview. And packed up leftover and used bucket as picnic basket for our daytrip to Isle of Mull so worked out great.

Check into Glenburnie was quick and easy. We were given all the information we needed for our stay, including the thoughtful way breakfast would be served. Breakfast was served in a large ‘breakfast bucket’ and included a hot item, yoghurt, fruit, muffin/cookies and orange juice. It arrived hot and everything included was fresh and delicious. We stayed in room 3, which was on the first floor. The room was spacious and clean with the added bonus of having a separate seating area with amazing views over the bay. The bed was very comfortable and the shower with its feature glass shower walls was lovely to use. We unexpectedly had to cut our stay short (both of us were very disappointed) but hope to go back to Glenburnie soon to finish exploring the area. Wouldn’t hesitate for one second to highly recommend Glenburnie with owners who make you feel very welcome, are understanding and offer to do anything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as they can. We didn’t need to ask for anything extra as everything we could possibly have needed had been thought about and was in the room. Thank you guys for a wonderful stay. Good luck with the forthcoming wedding ❤️

Provides well presented large rooms on the sea front. Breakfast is delivered in a bucket with in addition a slightly varying hot dish presented in a plasticised or card-board box. On arrival we were asked if there was any food we did not eat, after that there is no choice for breakfast. No tick list of things you would like for the next morning as in other B & Bs. Glenburnie has 9 rooms so delivery to the rooms makes sense during Covid times, but having no choice is a disadvantage. Parking is a double row and who gets in the front row and back row is problematic. The manager does not want to know and keys are not asked to be left so if you get stuck in the back or if someone is parked in the front row and you can’t get to the back row, tough. We saw the manager on arrival, for a few seconds each morning when the bucket was delivered and when we paid the bill. A rather soulless experience.

WimbledonSE, Thank you for your positive comments. As with many hospitality businesses, we too have had to adapt our service protocols and consider the wellbeing of our guests and staff alike. Each guest upon arrival is provided with an explanation of the process of our current service. At this point, every guest has the opportunity to flag any dietary requirements, etc., and it is signposted that guests may make any requests that will make their stay a more fulfilling and enjoyable one. You did not at any point ask for any special requests, which we would have been more than happy to fulfil. You mention a manager in your review; we do not have managers. This is our primary home and as owners, we attend to our guests personally with the help of small team of housekeeping staff. Initially, we were disappointed to read your review. However, having read your review history, and also other reviews you have made on other sites about your stay with us, it would appear that you have an unhealthy propensity to diminish hospitality providers when your personal expectations are not 100 % fulfilled. If you take a moment to peruse the hundreds of reviews we have received over our several decades in hospitality, you will note that your opinion is deeply incongruent with our overall ratings. A guest like yourself, who carries a sugar-coated dagger, appears to be lacking in empathy. This is terribly sad by our standards of integrity. If you are ever returning to Oban, please do not hesitate to get in touch so that we may recommend another property for you to stay. Truly wishing you the best of luck in the future.

We had a fantastic stay at Glenburnie House for 2 nights in September. Fantastic room overlooking the bay! Room was spotless and well equipped. The breakfast bucket was a great idea in COVID times and the food was excellent and plenty of it. Also something different each day! We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return again!

We had three nights in Room 9. It’s a lovely room with nice views across the bay. It’s spacious with lots of important drawer space. Bed is very comfortable. It’s also very nice and quiet. As it’s on the second floor, plenty of stairs need to climbed but when you get there it’s worth it. En suite is nice with a large double sized walk in shower (although smaller than ours at home), and unusually, a decent sized bath mat! Very strict Covid rules are still very much in place and breakfast is via a well stocked “Breakfast Bucket”, which arrives exactly at the time you choose, and contains plenty of orange juice, a hot breakfast, as well as other goodies. You make your own coffee but there’s good quality coffee bags. For someone who can’t bare instant coffee, these coffee bags were perfectly ok. Plus there’s a wide selection of other self service drinks available for you to make. All breakfast items are chosen for you, but all are of a high standard, including catering for dietary intolerances which was much appreciated. In the absence of a normal breakfast “sit down service”, this is probably as good as is practicable. We didn’t go hungry! Graeme and Dan are most helpful and do whatever they can to assist and they have thought of virtually everything. The decor (in the hallway etc) is wonderfully presented. This is a “wonderful residence”which has been very tastefully restored. Everywhere is very clean, as you’d expect. Car parking is ok and our car didn’t really move for three days but could be an issue if there were more vehicles. Our only comments/suggestion would be less bright lights in the bathroom (especially for first thing in a morning!) and the water pressure was less than it should be. There was plenty to do for at least three days if not longer (weather dependent). There’s plenty of decent enough restaurants but you need to book ahead (as we did). They are about 10-15 minutes walk away along the picturesque sea front. See my TripAdvisor reviews for restaurants in Oban and elsewhere. We had a very good tour and tasting at Oban Distillery. Obviously we’d much prefer a normal service (non restricted) at Glenburnie and hopefully one day we’ll be able to return to experience Glenburnie to the full. Probably 4.5 out of 5 but we prefer to round up!
