The Briarbank is a very nice B&B in Oban. Our host Julie was very nice and friendly. The welcoming glass of scotch was most delicious and appreciated. The room was very nice but the four poster bed is a little small for tall people. Our room and the breakfast room were both decorated with Scotland in mind. Tartan carpet and...

Briarbank is a luxury B&B. Our room was delightful. The bed was very comfortable. Julie and Bob have thought of every little detail right down to a glass of whisky and peanuts waiting for us for each night of our stay. Julie and Bob are most welcoming, wanting everything to be perfect for you. The breakfast was huge and very...

I had been recommended this guest house by a friend - was absolutely wonderful - You have got to go here and sleep in the majestical four poster beds. Julie, the owner helped us up the steps with our bags which I thought was really thoughtful as she is only a little lady. we got whisky on arrival - (Which...

We stayed one night (May 24) at this charming B&B during our 11 days tour in Scotland. Julie´s B&B (as well as the town of Oban) were one of our highlights. Situated near the centre of Oban with fine viewings, Briarbank B&B is a perfect place to stay. We stayed in the MacDonald room and were very pleased with our...

We stayed two nights at Briarbank during a two week tour of Scotland. The accomodation and town were one of the highlights of our holiday. The Briarbank Guest House is ideally situated just a short stroll from the town centre. We chose to stay in the MacDonald room which had a four poster bed and was very spacious compared to...

Agree that the accommodation is very comfortable and the breakfast excellent but have to also agree re the "pushiness" of the hosts. I have visited Oban several times before and I know exactly where I want to eat dinner, I don't need a rather-too-obviously-pushy "steer" towards a particular restaurant. This spoilt the whole feel of the stay. If you want...

In and around Oban there are many outdoor activities including beautiful walks and, for the more adventurous, sea kayaking. The Oban Sealife Sanctuary is a short drive away and you can also pop into Dunstaffnage Castle and Chapel on the way. If you're interested in Scottish history, a trip to Dunollie Castle and Museum is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Walk round the grounds and enchanted woodlands discovering the life of the MacDougals in the 1745 House Museum.
