Hawthornbank Guest House is a delightful Victorian villa built in 1873. It is pleasantly situated in a slightly elevated position, and has many rooms with spectacular views of Oban bay. We are close to Oban town centre in a quiet residential setting. There is off-street parking and a footpath leads from the front garden towards the town. We have facilities for bicycles and welcome cyclists.

Everything at Hawthornbank was just as described. Flawlessly clean, beautiful views above town, tasty breakfast and good hospitality. Ian was very nice and caring, but not overly in your business. I'd recommend staying here- the room on the top floor felt like our own little world with a GORGEOUS view.

We arrived early afternoon into Oban by train and check n wasn't until mid afternoon. Plenty of places to go for a tea/coffee until we were able to check in. We were met by Ian, who along with his wife Jem, own the place. He has a very friendly manner and showed us to our room, and explained things. Our room faced the carpark at the back and was of a decent size. Quite a few nice wee touches in the room (including sweets) and it was very homely. The bed was of the softer variety. That said, my wife & myself slept very well on it. I'm guessing the house is Victorian, and sits on a prominent part of Oban, overlooking the water. Not too far away from the main street, yet easily accessible. Breakfast was excellent. Varied choices and you fill in an order form the previous night, knowing that it's freshly made each morning. Check out is at 10am. For us it's just a wee bit too early, but it seems to be the industry standard nowadays, given what's happening. Not a major issue, but something most travellers are having to take into account now. Overall, a great stay in a fantastic b&b, and I'd defo recommend the Hawthornbank to any holidaymakers.

Thanks for the review - great to know you loved the location. Obviously, with up to seven rooms to clean and only 2 full-time staff, late check outs would mean the rooms wouldn’t be ready for check ins, which is why 10am is the norm for guest houses. Hope to see you again - for the best price book direct at our website.

We stayed 2 nights here at the Hawthornbank in Oban and our host Ian was great. The guest house is sparkling clean as are the rooms. And the breakfast in the morning was brilliant too. Parking is available right at the hotel. Highly recommended.

We spent a pleasant few days here, in a lovely room, which is was beautifully furnished and very comfortable, with a super view of the bay and the island of Kererra. Our hosts were efficient and friendly and displayed a good knowledge of the local area. The house and gardens were lovely and we enjoyed our breakfasts. Reassuring COVID measures were in place.

We had a fabulous two night stay at the immaculately clean Hawthornbank. The guest house is in a great location for walking into Oban where there are plenty of restaurants. The full Scottish breakfast was amazing! Ian was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the local area.
