Came upon this amazing little pub, at lunchtime, by chance whilst walking the Borders Abbeys Way. Friendly barman. Great real ale. Very good traditional pub food. Chatty and welcoming fellow customers. This place really is everything a good local pub should be. I'm looking for an excuse to return with my wife.

There were 4 of us had a lovely pre-Christmas meal in very pleasant surroundings. The bar area downstairs was lovely and warm with a fab real fire to warm a body on a wet stormy night such as we had. Upstairs in the dining room we were the only customers that evening so enjoyed the full attention of our waitress... More

Two families and LOTS of noisy children had a lovely afternoon here. The food was cheap and more than chearful. The portions great. The kids had a great time playing hide and seek outside while we relaxed. Very friendly. Even rang to say we'd left our sons coat there by accident and offered to return it back to us on... More

I was attending a rally in the area and this bar was one of the few bars that would serve us food, for some reason some people cannot handle serving more than 20 people in an evening sitting. The staff here where welcoming and very accommodating. We where sited in a room at the back that was hidden from the... More

It is a pity to leave a poor review - in fact this is the first!, however I should have realised that when I had 2 hairs in my drink I shouldn't have ordered food. Although a 2 for £12 deal price the food was poor. I had lasagna which unfortunately I saw again later along with the runs! Never,... More

Went there at lunchtime so it was not busy. Good selection of food, simple but delicious. There was no issue when one of our party wanted a Knickerbocker Glory without nuts and cream and someone else did not want chips wit their lasagne but salad instead! Nice local beer too! Roaring fire to keep us warm as it was only... More

We spent what turned out to be four nights at the Fox - known locally as the 'bottom pub', as it it at the end of the Main Street. Actually, we've been drinking here during all our Borders visits of the last eighteen years, and had many a good meal here. We have come to know the staff and most... More

We stayed for 4 days over New year. It was comfortable, small friendly and had a great atmosphere. They have a lovely small cosy bar that sells real ales at reasonable prices. The roaring fires kept us very warm certainly worth a visit and we will be back again later in the year.
