A quick decision to have a few days away and play some golf. Found Barr Farmhouse by chance. A beautiful house in glorious countryside, superb food, difficult to choose. Roy and Orla, appart from being hugely entertaining go the extra mile to give you a stay to remember.

We are from New Zealand and were in Dumfries with friends for a wedding and were looking for a B&B in the area. We were lucky enough to be directed to Barr Farmhouse by the Dumfries information centre. What a wonderful B&B. Roy and Orla have created a very special place, so welcoming and comfortable. The rooms are beautifully done...

We were fortunate enough to choose Barr Farmhouse as a stopover point on our way to the Highlands and for our return. Roy and Orla are fantasic hosts- best breakfast you will ever eat and the situation of the farmhouse meant that we were able to explore this beautiful part of the world. Well done for making our stay so...

I recently had the privilege of spending two nights in the Barr Farmhouse B & B together with my wife and my parents-in-law. We were on a short break from Ireland to visit some relatives and to do a spot of sightseeing so we chose The Barr having come across it on-line while searching for a farnhouse B & B...

We were travelling north from Wales to Shetland, so Barr Farm was ideal for an overnight stop, and was easy to reach from the M74. We arrived to fresh homebaking(all made by our hostess, Orla) and a very welcome pot of tea. We've never had this offered anywhere else! Believe all the reviews.....this place is exceptional! Where else can you...

Travelling North for a wedding we needed a break somewhere in the Borders, searching Trip Advisor found Barr Farmhouse. The atrocious weather meant we arrived later than expected but we were greeted with a fantastic afternoon tea which actually was sumptuous enough to replace our evening meal!! Waking up to a sunlit morning our room had views across a beautiful...

My wife and I had a very good stay at the farm with Roy and Orla, You can see and hear from them that they are very passenate about the place which they rebuilt to a great place to stay. They are a bubbly couple and a good laugh you can see who rules, but, they are great and we...

I've stayed in quite a few places over the years and this is the best. Couldn't fault the food, the ambience (yes even in a B&B), the comfort, the hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble for Roy & Orla, and they were great fun. I once stayed in a beautiful 5-star B&B up north and it would vie for first...

We were welcomed as friends - Roy and Orla are interesting and interested people who really enjoy what they do and it shows! Comfortable rooms and a good range of food choices deal with the bed and breakfast aspects of their business but they make the real difference by being so warm and friendly from the moment you arrive to...

Roy and Orla are the perfect hosts for a B&B. They are available, friendly, and very helpful, without being intrusive. They have tried to incorporate every feature that you might expect in a great B&B and have succeeded. The decor is "country" and very comfortable. The lounge is spacious and a pleasant place to spend some time not in your room....
