Stayed at Hetland last week it's our 5th stay as we love the place. We checked in with no problems and were given the room keys and that's where we did have a problem! Firstly this room was at the other end of the hotel which was quite a treck for two over 70 year olds! When we eventually found it the room faced about 5 overflowing large bins and a dirty shopping container! Obviously we were not happy with this and tracked all the way back to reception with our luggage again! We politely informed the receptionist we were not happy with the room but she didnt look to happy about our complaint and passed us some keys and took the ones we had then just ignored us. Of all the times we have been here we have never been disappointed like this and we've stayed in all the suites and always had a good room. Every other part of our stay was good the new room, the food. The best thing though was the rest of the staff(apart from the receptionist😡) all were lovely a lot of young staff being trained who were very good👍It was a shame we had such a bad start and it spoiled our first day a bit.…
Booked the lazy Sunday package which was great value. Room was very nice with a modern bathroom. Lovely Outlook over the gardens. Afternoon tea was a disappointment with the sandwiches lacking in any imagination, service was poor. Dinner however was a different experience with friendly staff and excellent food. Breakfast was good too.
Staff without exception excellent that's why it's a 4 but really a 3.We stayed for 5 days and met many staff, all were extremely well trained and presented a great ability and did the company proud. 1 star knocked off for 2 reasons, the coffee absolutely abysmal, weak and must be a company thing to use less coffee? The coffee presented at breakfast insipid: so tried a cappuccino (the same) next day tried a latte, like warm milky water, and as frequent users of hotels and conferences we all know that all establishments are rated by the coffee! The other reason that removed 1 star is due to when we arrived there were 20 people (from a wedding party) all crowded in & around the entrance smoking, (it was raining) they were generally drunk too, horrible first impression that we had to negotiate through nearly turned around! it was only 4pm! If you don't want them to smoke there, then remove the helpfully placed communal ashtray and put up a no smoking sign. Hotel probably suits a wedding, stag or hen do resort rather than a holiday base. Menu uninspired, and running out of beans for breakfast just isn't excusable, especially 2 days in a row and on the first day I offered to nip to the shops for them! Lobster on menu, but apparently never been served. Portion sizes generous. …
Another fantastic afternoon tea with a wee extra this time ...a lovely small cup of soup definitely a great value for money with a great choice! This is definitely my love to go places. Beautiful settings, lovely dining with great service every time I go they never let us down .
We were lucky enough to stay in one of the penthouse suites prior to a friends wedding day. The room. Was spacious and well designed. The hotel itself was beautiful the staff friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was delicious beautifully presented with great atmosphere. The room itself had some issues that I felt for the quality of the establishment could have been rectified to avoid the lower score here. Watermarks all over the ceiling which a lick of paint would have kept the standard of the rest of the building. The pull out bed myself and a friend shared was not the relaxing evening sleep we expected from a penthouse suite combined with not wanting to move during the night through fear of waking the bride with the squeaking of the springs. Overall a lovely place to stay but needs someone to focus on the finer details to keep the wow factor. …
