By far worst Travelodge we stayed in. We were given a room that had horrific wet dog smell so bad I went to ask for another if possible woman said if you don't like it leave!!! Was showed two more only marginally better outside gutter broke noisy
This has to be the worst place we have ever had the misfortune to book. We were delayed on the ferry back to the mainland from Arran and were intending to continue our journey down to Lincolnshire for a few days. As it was going to be dark by the time the ferry berthed and we only had 10 minutes notice that the ferry was going to sail we had to book somewhere that was dog friendly around the borders before leaving Arran. Thinking the Travelodge in Dumfries was ideally situated for a stop off we hurriedly booked just before we lost a signal. Big mistake as we usually do loads of research before booking anything. Check in was okay but the hallway to the room was a bit worrying and as soon as we entered room 12 we knew we'd made a huge mistake. The room was stinking with an ovverpowering smell of damp and had mould on the window screens. I went back to reception to complain and the receptionist said she would change us to room 15 as she thought "it should be better". The room was marginally better but still had a damp smell, the toilet looked like it hadn't seen a toilet brush for months, the carpet was faded and threadbare and our poor dog was running around frantically sniffing the carpet. The final straw was finding toenail clippings on the carpet. Absolutely disgusting. We spent the next 10 minutes online researching alternatives and found the Holiday Inn five minutes along the road for only £30 more (which included breakfast), booked it, went back to reception and told the receptionist we weren't staying and were checking out. She said she would get the manager to call next day. We were passing the next morning on our journey south so I called in to speak to the manager directly. She was extremely apologetic and said they had reported back on numerous occasions to Travelodge regarding the issues and constant customer complaints. She was aware of the damp issues in room 12 but said Travelodge keep letting the room for online bookings and they have to deal with the fallout. The poor lady was on the verge of tears and said they can only work with what they have and would arrange for a refund. The best thing that could happen to this place is for a bulldozer to flatten the place and start again. I did tell the manager that I would have been happier booking our dog into a kennel than stay in the room , which pretty much sums up how bad this place was.…
We stay at Travelodge when following Tartan Army. This is the worst we have been to Travelodge Dumfries from 22 - 25 Sep 2021.We were put in a very damp room, then a slightly less damp room. We returned the spare pillow from the second room which was covered in damp to reception to be advised the person on desk could not deal with as needed his manager. Why could he not take details of our complaint and manager address it, did not happen! We have been loyal to Travelodge but this is the worst and we no longer will stay in this establishment. We feel we paid for a room that failed to deliver.
Smell in both rooms which I'd booked was absolutely disgusting. Needs total refurb. There are no words to describe the stench from the carpets. Certainly not suitable for my 2 year old grandson to play on. Bathroom was mouldy with an unpleasant smell. We stayed for 10 minutes, long enough to book alternative accommodation nearby at a cost of a further £120. Definitely would NOT recommend this Travelodge unless you can see past the grime and have no sense of smell. Absolutely totally disgusting. You'd be better sleeping in your car.
So dated dirty needs a refurbishment the only saving grace is that there is a Starbucks and Greggs outside we got a lovely scenic room looking out at overgrown trees light switch hanging off the wall no body wash or hand-wash in the room dirty bathroom floor.
