Spent the weekend here for our walking club AGM and dinner. Having looked at all the reviews we were skeptical BUT after spending the weekend, I would recommend it. Don't get me wrong this isn't a five star establishment. It's cheep accommodation for walker and bikers. The bunk houses are relatively basic but great place to lay your head. Lots...

The booking process was helpful and very friendly! The location is unbeatable if your planning to ride the local 7Stanes Trail Centres. The accommodation itself is a little quirky and could do with a deep clean, but given the price and location we were happy to live with it!! As some reviews have already stated don't expect five star quality...

My new husband and I got married here on the 28 the of May. We had been a few times already to view the place and loved it, just to stay and relax. Our wedding was truly amazing and could not have had a better day. Pam and Mike did everything they could to help us with our special day....

Day 8 of our Lands End to John O'Groats cycle trip. We'd booked on the basis of the website - which looks wonderful. The location is really out of the way. 10km from Dumfries and requires cycling 2.5km up a forestry track - suitable for mountain bikes but not for loaded touring bike. The owner should be more specific about...

The wood itself is lovely and those who stayed in the yurts and pods said they were okay but I wouldn't stay there as it has mould on the walls and the bathrooms aren't great. However they did have a sign on the wall explaining they're in the process of consulting with someone about the mould. The food was good...

Stayed for two nights in a pretty little yurt (round tent with wood burner). The site is perfect - well located for walking and cycling. The shower room (and bunkhouse) needs a serious refit; damp is pretty bad. But everywhere else is pretty special.

Do not stay in the Bunkhouses. They are damp, smelly and I don't believe they have had any work done for decades. I can't comment on the facilities if you were camping with your own tents but the bunkhouses are not pleasant at all.

My wife and I had our wedding here in July 2015. We chose the full venue hire for 3 nights (Sat – Tue) with the hog roast for 110 people for our wedding meal. We have decided to write a long and detailed review for Marthrown as we feel it is truly the most wonderful and special place. We cannot...

I have travelled a lot in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Australia, staying in hostels and bunk houses along the way, some are good some have issues, however without doubt Marthrown is the most disgusting dreadful place I have ever stayed in! We booked a bunkhouse which was damp, dirty with mould (a lot) all over the walls, with two showers,...
