We stayed here for one night taking a scenic route up into more northerly Scotland. Our room (7) was spacious, bright and well furnished, including a couple of bucket seats; a very comfortable bed and a good spacious shower. The whole place was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Downstairs there are some comfortable seating areas and a spacious restaurant and...

A very tastefully restored building with a helpful and pleasant owner. The meals were freshly prepared and the fairly limited menu was sufficient. The location was central and the garden opposite by the river was nice for a quiet drink.

We stayed here for 2 nights from 29th April as we were going to Laggan Outdoor Centre with friends. Had a lovely stay in hotel. Rooms were spotless and staff were very friendly and polite. Jonathon I have to say was so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast is great and we ate there on the Friday night...

Stayed a night in The Ship Inn on Saturday 22nd April and was well impressed. The owner and host, Jonathan, was super helpful, searching the whole place to track down a brand of ginger beer I liked... dinner was great...and lots of little details pleased me, like the free bottle of mineral water in the bedroom. The rooms are beautifully...

I was looking for a base for a few days mountain biking. The location is good for both access to the countryside and the town. The place is attractive with a good atmosphere and closely supervised by Jonathan. Room and food were both good. I plan to return.

If you want a treat visit the Ship you wont be disappointed. The Ship Inn guesthouse, externally, fits neatly in to the unspoiled early twentieth century ambience of the lovely, small, quiet town of Gatehouse of Fleet nestling in the scenic, wooded Fleet valley, the inn being located adjacent to the Fleet river. Step in to the Ship and you...

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review. It was also great to meet you all and share in your celebration! Hope to see you all again soon. Gatehouse as you rightly point out is well located as a base to explore the beaches and mountain landscapes of Galloway.

Stayed here because of the Dorothy L Sayers connection. I was expecting a pub with rooms - but it has recently been transformed into a small, boutique hotel. The standard of the fixtures and fittings go beyond what you would reasonably expect. The public areas are enormous, with plush carpets and plump sofas. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and luxuriant...

Glad you enjoyed your stay! Am keen to display more information around Dorothy L Sayers and her connection with this part of the world, certainly by the time you come back to Galloway. Many thanks for taking the time to provide a review on ourselves

First time visitors to the Ship Inn and have to say well impressed! My husband and I spent one night in the superior room and the decor was fresh and the work done in the room was to a high standard, would not hesitate to go back. Dinner and breakfast were enjoyable well presented and plentiful! Jonathan and his team...

An absolutely beautiful hotel. In fact it is like a boutique hotel inside. Decor is lovely and rooms are equipped to a very high standard. Even had a cafe gusto machine! Shower was brilliant and all fixtures and fittings were high quality. Owner very pleasant and helpful as were all staff. Breakfast in morning was fantastic. Lovely fresh orange juice...

My friends and I stayed here for a Saturday evening, Johnathan and his colleague Wendy made us very welcome. Nothing was to much trouble, good food and drinks. I left some stuff in room and Johnathan kindly posted it to me the next working day. Thanks hope to stay again!
