We had a very average stay here in early December 2021. Stayed again in mid-January 2022 to find a new revitalised approach and attitude amongst the reception and breakfast waiting staff. What a difference to the overall experience.

New Year was absolutely disgraceful. I will never be back here again. Also, the place stinks, the food was a disgrace, and the way the staff were treated made me want to punch someone in the face. If this place fell down, the world would be a better place.

I booked this hotel stay as a holiday treat before returning to work. We had never been here before but we will definitely be returning. From check in at reception the staff were friendly and welcoming. We had booked a platter lunch in the pavilion and thoroughly enjoyed it, again the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable and larger than many rooms we have stayed in, with a nice big TV. We had dinner on the Blues restaurant and both of us were stuffed. The quality was excellent and the dishes well cooked. All the serving staff were pleasant, cheers Jake and seemed to be happy at work. In the bar it was table service only, not a problem but it was quite quiet. Bar prices were reasonable compared to many 4 star hotels, they have an extensive selection of drinks. My only criticism would be that the bar is part of a cafe and I feel that a separate bar would be an improvement. Next morning the breakfast was excellent, I have eaten a lot of full Scottish breakfasts and the quality of the ingredients was brilliant. All in all we WILL be returning, my one regret is not signing up for the reward card 😢

The hotel is clean and the most of the staff are friendly but unless you have come for the football and getting a nice dose of covid, forget it. We checked in on the Friday evening, went for a drink before our meal in the evening. The bar was small with uncomfortable chairs but OK for a quick drink. It was table service and the bar staff were friendly. On the Saturday we went out for the day and we thought we would go for a drink in the bar, no chance. The bar was full of local Kilmarnock fans. All the seats in the bar were taken and moved to the front of the bar so they could all talk and get drunk together. No masks in sight and no more than 2 feet between each of them. As residents we assumed we would be able to sit in the restaurant to have a drink. No chance was the restaurant managers reply, the restaurant is for dining only. So here we are, residents who have paid a fortune to go away for a weekend to unwind being forced to go and stand in a bar full of covid possibilities. I complained to the reception desk who suggested we go to our room and order room service. Very annoyed by the lack of respect the hotel gives residents. We wanted one drink before returning to our room to get ready for our evening meal. 20 – 30 empty tables in the restaurant and we weren’t allowed one for 30 minutes. As it was, we returned to our room at 4:30pm. I’m assuming the restaurant would be packed out with dinning people at 5:00pm or most likely not. Will not go back.
