American point of view on group tour: Didn't like the location of the hotel since the city was doing road work right outside the hotel. It was a mess. Otherwise, the hotel was nice and clean. Nice rooms with great showers !! The restaurant was lacking room to accommodate so many people. Staff was friendly.
I just completed a great stay at the Courtyard. I booked two rooms, one for me and one for my two nieces. In advance, I requested for the rooms to be adjoining or at least close by and we ended up directly across from each other. My King room was spacious, clean and very quiet, The bed was comfortable. Room included a desk and chair, mini fridge and safe. I loved having daily housekeeping again! Although most days my room wasn't made up until after 5 pm. The staff at the hotel were generally excellent. I was welcomed by name by the manager throughout my stay. Everyone was polite and eager to be helpful. I had requested an early checkin as we were flying trans-Atlantic overnight, but they were unable to accommodate us. The hotel was quite busy throughout our 4 night stay. My Titanium status gave me free breakfast at the hotel, and I was quite appreciative that all 3 of us (so both rooms I booked) were included. The buffet was good and plentiful. You could do a full Scottish breakfast including haggis! We had no issues getting seats. We did not use the restaurant at the hotel; however, I did sit at the bar for a glass of wine one night. Service was excellent. The location is convenient to everything. Do not be put off by the tram works construction out front. While not attractive, it did not impact our stay with noise, etc. Try Mamma Roma across the street for good Italian food (book ahead). And check to see what's on at the Edinburgh Playhouse, we saw Lion King (and loved it). You can't beat the convenience of having a theatre two doors away. I would definitely stay again. It was exactly what I expect from a Courtyard and great value for the price I paid. I have given it a 5 rating, which is based on the hotel delivering great service for the price paid and exceeding my expectations. It is not a 5 star luxury property, nor does it advertise as such.…
Easy check in and room was ready early. Well equipped room and well serviced the next morning. Bathroom was perfect. Breakfast was very enjoyable, lots of staff eager to help and eggs, porridge and gluten free items available to order. I loved the pancake machine! Check out was quick too and once again the staff were keen to help offering to store our bags until later and telling us of a short cut to the station. Hotel in easy walking distance of most places and some great restaurants very close by. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
I stayed at the hotel twice in June 2022, one night each time. The rooms were very good, with everything I needed, including good wifi. The location is very convenient: a short walk to the airport tram and to the train station. Check-in was not easy either time - check-in time is 3 pm, and I arrived early, so I can’t blame them - though I ended up both times not getting the room till well past 3 pm. Breakfast on my first visit was a debacle - apparently they had two tour groups, so I couldn’t get seated. After waiting for some time, I asked for (and got) permission from the overwhelmed staff to take food and eat it in my room. They comped me the breakfast, which was the right thing to do. On my second visit, breakfast worked smoothly. Despite the problems, I would probably stay at the hotel again, mainly because of the Marriott connection and the location.…
Great location, close to Waverley Train Station and the Royal Mile. Very average food, very expensive and very small rooms. Bathrooms so small, and sink so very very small, that one cannot help but get water all over the floor (which is thus wet all the time). Instead of filling the tissue canister with a box of fresh tissue, they pull a half-dozen tissues out of some tissue box and stuff it into the canister - ugh! Daily room service was minimalistic; didn't even include cleaning the bathroom floor. Can't get movies on the TV. No real bar, but lobby has wine (none very good). This is a 3-star hotel pretending to be a 4 star.
Easy to find, great location, easy 15 minutes walk into town, parking is 10 minutes away and subsidized by the hotel. Unfortunately, we had to change rooms as our first room had windows that did not operate. The second room also had a number of issues namely the bedside light switch does not work, the shower controls were broken and the shower pressure was non-existent. We also asked for an extra toilet roll and pillows which never came
We stayed here through travel zoo and got a good bargain with bottle of Prosecco thrown in and breakfast each morning cost £139 for 3 nights! So do not have too many complaints at this price especially when we went on the Easter bank holiday weekend. Good points: - has good seating outside the hotel - in great location next to theatre, lots of restaurants, shops and bars and walking distance from train station - literally next to calton hill which could be seen from our room and can be up there in 5 minutes to lots of monuments and lovely sights - clean room with good facilities - friendly and welcoming staff - good service from staff - breakfasts were okay ish plenty of choice but sausage and bacon not cooked too well and would prefer to have them cooked longer. However was happy could order fresh eggs and had eggs on toast each day Bad points - parking was difficult and not cheap. it’s a sharp turn next to the hotel which is easy to miss (as we did and took us 10 mins to get back round the one way) down a little alley to a large car park at the back. Although it’s discounted with hotel it’s still expensive if you are there a few days - drinks are quite expensive at the hotel bar All in all I would recommend this hotel for the location, service and cleanliness of the hotel. I would return but would probably want another bargain 😁 one thing I would recommend is going by train as this would cancel out the car park charges and will be doing this next time!…
Excellent stay. Quiet, despite proximity to tourist area. Great staff. Superb breakfast. Fine bar. Adequate exercise room. Daily housekeeping. Roomy shower. Secure luggage storage. Only complaint: mattress a bit soft. Would rebook in a heartbeat.
My Son & I stayed at your fab hotel in April. Gorgeous hotel with funky chill out reception area, perfect l location for anyone new to the city!,. Wonderful first experience, most definitely not our last!
This hotel is in a pretty convenient location - it was a short walk to the Royal Mile. Everything was clean and the rooms were comfortable, although fairly small. The continental breakfast was decent - there was a pretty good selection including for those with dietary restrictions. The staff certainly are what bring this hotel from a 3-star to a 4-star rating. Everyone we interacted with was super nice and went above and beyond expectations. They were happy to provide recommendations when asked and also just generally made us feel welcome throughout our stay.
