We stayed in St Giles apartment 1 and thought it was amazing. Very high spec decoration, brilliant views and location, and spotlessly clean. It was on the first floor so some steep steps and there are also steps down to the bedroom. Perhaps not for those with mobility issues. However we will definitely be back! A great find.

Very clean, well fitted out with everything you need to self cater and very comfortable. The bedroom was small but that didn't bother us much the living quarters were well laid out with plenty of storage space. Noise was not a problem and the heating was ample.

We stayed here for one night only. The location of the apartment is excellent. Walkable distance from the train station and very central to most things. The staff in the office are really welcoming, friendly and helpful. We arrived in Edinburgh about 11am and were able to leave our luggage in the office until check in time at 3. Same...

What a find this was. Stayed at Advocates Close which was right opposite the cathedral on the Royal Mile. Loads of places to eat nearby. The standard of the flat was very good - beds a little on the small side and a bit noisey being next to the alley/close but other than that it was great. Would recommend!!

We stayed in the Old Fish Market Apartment and it was lovely. Immaculately presented and very clean. Yes, some decor show signs of age but that really is to be expected as I'm sure these apartments are very popular. The kitchen is well equipped and appliances well maintained. The living room/ dining area is spacious and comfortable. We had our...

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights at the beginning of October in apartment 1A. Could not have been in a better location. Seemed to be in the "middle" of the Royal Mile and an easy walk to Ediburgh Castle and for Harry Potter fans, Greyfrairs Graveyard and The Elephant House, just a couple of blocks down the street....

These apartments are exceptional value and you can't beat the location. We arrived late and had to pick up the keys from the lock box outside the main office. Directions were great...it was a bit like a treasure hunt! I think we had apartment #2 and the outside door looked like it was an industrial/restaurant door...it wasn't clear to us...

These apartments are right in the middle of the Royal Mile and are clean, up to date and modern and big. We stayed in Apt 2 which was on the first floor up, and as we arrived late, the keys were all organised in a secure box and everything done very well. Some things to note: steep stairs (no lift)...

My extended family and I (6 in all) stayed here for 3 nights as part of a two week trek across the UK. While I'm usually more of a luxury hotel kind of gal, I highly recommend self-catered apartments for anyone traveling for over a week, especially in a large group. Not only do you save money by not eating...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
