Rhona was a brilliant host and did everything she could to make us feel comfortable. The room was lovely and had a pretty autumnal view. The breakfast room was very well decorated, the breakfast menu was varied and the food itself was very good. The rooms were cleaned and tidied thoroughly every day. Overall I find it hard to think... A truly friendly and well run family guest house. Situated on a main road into the central area of the city with a frequent bus service literally on the doorstep.....although only a 20min brisk walk to the centre. Plenty of character in our room, which was extremely clean and lacking nothing that the traveller would expect. Very comfortable and so... More

Rhona was a very nice host to us and the location was all right, though further from the main part of town than I expected. The quality of the rooms was disappointing. Our quiet double room was so packed with furniture we couldn't open the closet door more than three quarters of the way. It bumped into the footboard of... More

We enjoyed 3 nights at Auld Reekie with hostess Rhona who looked after our every need. Our room was on the top floor and looked out to the busy street below. It was very clean and very comfortable although a little on the small side, however all the other amenities more than made up for the size of the room.... More

Large choice at Breakfast didn't like the sausages but apart from that great!!! Clean rooms, beds really comfy the pillows were a little flat I... More

First off, I saw a review for this place saying it was terrible and "I've never stayed in a smaller, noisier, squeakier, smellier hotel, ever!". They obviously confused it with another place! It was fantastic. We were greeted at the door by the kindest, sweetest woman in Edinburgh. The place was really clean and quiet. We had a room at... More

We have just spent two lovely nights at the Auld Reekie, a place at which we have stayed on our visits to Edinburgh for almost 20 years. It has always been of a consistently excellent quality and Rhona and Brian have always provided a good dose of true Scots hospitality, as proven by the large number of returning guest whom... More

My sister and I stayed at the Auld Reekie Guest House for four nights and had a lovely stay! Rhona, one of the proprietors, was so friendly and funny, which was a wonderful bonus! Our room was at the top of the stairs—there is no lift, as the guest house is a historic Victorian—and was very cute, with a modern... More

Me and my Dad turned up here late afternoon after struggling to find somewhere to stay in Edinburgh. We were so glad Rhona and Brian had two single rooms available - we really enjoyed our stay here. The hosts were so welcoming and helpful, with a quirky sense of humour, which made our stay here homely and also fun. The... More
