Despite our late arrival, Maureen was here to greet us. We were shown to our room and we discussed our preferred breakfast time. After a good night of sleep in a clean, spacious room we were greeted to a simple but generous breakfast. She did not hesitate to answer our questions about Edinburgh and even gave us tips on where...

I'm leaving this review as constructive criticism as many aspects of Maureen's b and b were excellent - parking , cleanliness , size of room. My partner and I and small baby booked the room at extremely short notice during the Edinburgh marathon so were grateful to have anywhere at all to stay that was of realistic price . On...

Booked to stay here for a wedding at Our Dynamic Earth which was only a shirt walk away. The rooms were fantastic and the breakfast was great. Maureen was a fantastic host and very accommodating considering I had made a miscalculation regarding the number of rooms we needed. Would definitely recommend and hopefully will return one day!

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this fab bnb. Maureen is a great hostess and I would highly recommend a stay here. We were in the large double which is massive!!! Everywhere is very clean and tidy. The breakfast is plentiful- amazing choice and certainly fills you up. This place is amazing value and we will be returning...

Edinburgh's accommodation is usually over-expensive and I wasn't preparing for a luxury experience for £67.50 per room. But Maureen's B&B was a really good surprise. The house is well located 15 minute-walk from the Royal Mile; parking is easy.We had a double room and a twin. The double room, in front of the house was absolutely huge. We felt like...

Another late review for this truly excellent b&b, for which I apologize to Maureen, its most gracious host. When I had to change my travel plans after a car accident, I ended up stranded in Edinburgh for a weekend in September 2011 and quickly had to find accommodation. I expected it to be quiet, clean, friendly and within walking distance...

We were delighted to meet Maureen, and even now about 3 weeks later we still remember the warmth and friendliness of Maureen. This was one of the best in our month of BnBs and hotels. It was a relief to find that breakfast was NOT cooked (how much black pudding can one eat day after day) but fully continental...great choices...

Maureen's B&B is the best one I have ever stayed in. The house was clean and spacious. The garden looks charming. Although the railway passes at the end of the garden, this is no bother at all since the noise is very little. Our room came with an en-suite bathroom which was small but sufficient. Nicely decorated, and it had...

I am so late in posting this review, so my apologies to Maureen. We loved it. The location was in a quiet residential area but near enough to Holyrood and the Royal Mile one could walk it. There is a bus line near by and an excellent Chinese restaurant (I'm sorry I don't recall the name). There was also a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Elderfields is situated in one of Edinburgh's residential areas and is a fine example of early Victorian architecture. The Elderfields Guest House was built around 1850 and is tucked away opposite the picturesque Queens Park and Holyrood Palace and close to the bottom of the Royal Mile. Princes Street is just a 15/20 minute walk away, with Edinburgh Castle dominating the local skyline.
