I have been meaning to write this review for some time. My boyfriend and I booked here as we were travelling through to Edinburgh for a concert. Our travel had been booked in advance also, the day before the owner called us and said due to a burst water pipe he had to cancel our booking at about 3pm the... More

It's not true what they say about location, location, location. It may help. But it's what's inside too. My Edinburgh Life scores well on both. About 200 yards from Haymarket railway station but in a side street that feels sheltered from any hustle. It's a kind of apartment hotel. You have the room and that's it. The booking process was... I stayed there 3 nights with my family, everything was perfect and clean, it's like a b&b without everyday cleaning. I loved the bathroom and especially the living room where breakfast is served in the morning (continental breakfast). In the room there's also a kitchen corner very useful if you want to eat something instead of eating outside! It's very... More

Extened family was staying there with 3 rooms. Even though separated my sons and nephew LOVED it. Manager was extremely nice and also fun to converse with. We even extended our stay another day. Not for those who cannot climb stairs though. Basement room was the biggest. Close to main train line which gets you to sights and just down... More

Dear Ralph Thank you for your great comments and for extending with us. I am delighted to hear that you all enjoyed yourselves. Yes we do get fitter with the stairs although you soon get used to it. Although we do take extra care for those guests who let us know if there are any stair climbing issues and provide... More

We booked our accommodation through a third party (Hotwire) - and were met with a closed door and and no code to the keys. Once we got in touch with the staff, we got in easily. We wish we were contacted in advance with the key code. Otherwise a lovely place, we had a nice room and the breakfast was... More

Dear Elin Thank you for giving us feedback, it is very much appreciated and useful. I am sorry that you didn't receive the code in advance, this is because, sometimes, certain agencies do not like to release contact details despite our explanation that we need to get the keycode to you. This is improving as agents understand how important it... More

Please be aware that this hotel will NOT refund a free refund/cancellation booking. Dear Kangakid I am shocked to hear of this and this in no way reflects how we treat our guests or how we do business. To solve this, I have tried to find your initial booking and indeed your cancellation but can find nothing at all. I am aware that you probably booked under another name! I have also searched... Rooms 20 and 24 Both rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The on-suite bathrooms was again clean and practical. The continental breakfast offers a good choice, very pleasant staff and surroundings. Would definitely recommend and return.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
