My review here is for the resteraunt. The staff this perticular night could not be bothered and you could tell this by their daminor and by the fact they left us sitting so long to take our order as they were chatting amongst the self's. We finally ordered drinks and the girl spilled my drink all over the table including my partners phone. She said sorry then walked away. I thought she'd gone to get a cloth she returned with a couple of napkins and left us to clean it up. Luckily the phone was OK. The food was average I got a curry which was not resteraunt standard but wasnt awful. We also ordered a dessert as part of the meal deal. Sat for forever for the main plates to be taken away then after about 20 min had to ask about desert. She had forgot to put the order the through. We decided rather than to wait for the bill we went to the bar to ask for it to be added to our hotel bill. This wasn't possible unsure why? We waited again to pay because all the staff where being nosey to a problem another customer was having with her card. The till was free for us to be served and my partner was standing with cash in his hand but they all just stood around staring at this situation going on with this other lady. Eventually one girl sort of came out of her trance and gave us the bill and went to walk away back over to this lady. I said sorry can we pay now and she said no. But walked round to the bar where she then held out her hand for the money. I don't know if she was new but when we did she started at it and had to have the cash checked by another member of staff. We walked away at this point. We left no tip and it left such a bad mood I me. Had i not already paid for the room at a reasonable price I would have complained on check out for a refund.
We were given a warm welcome and were allocated a room in the location we had called ahead and asked for which was excellent. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable and that was exactly what we needed.
There is a Scotmid store within easy walking distance from the hotel which is ideal for any snacks etc.
There is also a bus stop just beside the shop where you can catch the number 20 bus which stops at the Gyle centre. From there you can catch other buses or a tram into the city centre. We made use of an all-day ticket costing £4.50 to get the bus and tram into the city where we spent the day before returning back to the hotel in the evening. There are other options for buses into the city centre via a bridge link across the main road but we were happy to use the number 20.
After a peaceful night’s sleep, it was an easy journey into the airport.
We would happily return to this hotel when in the area again.
We started out journey in Edinburgh at Travelodge Edinburgh Ratho Station only for 19.99 £ per night, the location was spot on. Being near Edinburgh, we could easily get our rented car from Hertz the very next day.
It had the basic amenities any backpacker would ask for - a clean room, a hot shower, and a comfortable bed. Coffee and tea are provided. For the price, it was definitely worth it.
The customer service is excellent. All smiles, friendly and helpful. Michelle and I were really hungry, so we had dinner there.
The curry and the naan were delicious!
Always look out for the cheaper deals in the Travelodge Website. I booked directly via the Travelodge Website - it was a few pounds cheaper than Agoda.com
Cons - car park far too small, quite noisy outside AND….. Breakfast….. I get this needs to be staggered but offering us breakfast on a Sunday at 8am or 10am with nothing in between wasn’t acceptable.
Overall fine for one night for the money
