We did our research and found this gem on our own. What a stroke of luck. The House is an historical site built in 1638 and has ties to the Balfour's and Robert Louis Balfour Stevenson (author of Treasure Island and Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde). Our Scottish hosts Debbie and Philip could not have been more gracious and accommodating....

Debbie and Philip are wonderful. This property certainly sets a high standard for other apartments. We have just finished a weeks stay there. The location is great ,close to lots of amenities and public transport. Regarding the amenities I agree with the previous posters. I would recommend this place to anyone for Edinburgh. Thank you Debbie and Phillip for making...

Having read all the reviews concerning Pilrig House we couldn't wait to arrive for our two week holiday, and we were certainly not disappointed! We stayed in the Garden Apartment which was absolutely beautiful - had everything we needed at top quality standard and maintained to perfection. The owners, Debbie and Philip, were so welcoming and informative - nothing was...

Travelled to Scotland in August 2015. Stayed at Pilrig House for a week and enjoyed every minute. The Garden apartment was exactly as advertised. It was beautiful, very clean, well appointed, and very quiet. I really didn't want to leave. Debbie was an exceptional host. She made every effort to make certain that I was comfortable and settled, and even...

My wife found this wonderful place online. The many many photos depicted a promising looking self catering apartment. All the reviews were positive with most giving high marks. We booked the Park Apartment for 9 days. Upon arrival, Phillip checked us in. Everything you see in their photo gallery is there. Plus everything you forgot. Then there was fresh fruit,...

We only met Phillip but he was great to chat with & very helpful. Pulpit House is very cosy & comfortable; good for cooking ( with lots of herbs spices& utensils) as take away from Scottish diners is dire! All you really need is available & although we were here in summer, those 3 days are over! We can imagine...

Wow. Debbie and Phillip have created a comfortable, clean, and oh so cozy place to call home for you Scotland adventure. My mom and I stayed in May and were bowled over by the thoughtful care we received, everything from being greeted personally by Debbie to answer any questions, pretty much every restaurant menu and tourist attraction brochure imaginable, maps...

My family and I stayed at the Pilrig House for a week in June of 2015. This was our first visit to Scotland and we were simply amazed by the friendly people and incredibly comfortable accommodations. Truly, the Pilrig House became our home away from home. We typically enjoy eating out once a day or twice a day - but...

I booked this place in the blind other than pictures on the internet and reviews, I have never had such a historical, amenity suited, with hosts that were so willing to be at our call and beckoning beyond anything I have ever had. We were treated better there than if I had been home. I am ready to go back...

If it were possible to give the Pilrig House more than 5 stars, we would. We have travelled, extensively throughout the world, renting houses and apartments, and have never been as pleased and impressed as we were with the accommodations and hosts as we were with the Pilrig House. The only negative is that we think that our future lodgings...
