We stayed in Edinburgh for 5 days for new year 2015/2016 (Hogmanay festival from 30.12.-1.1. with lots of activities!) We had a very nice, familiar and informative welcome by David, which gave a nice introduction to Edinburgh (we recommend also one of the Free City Tours to get to know the city, we choose Sandemans New Edinburgh). The hotel is...

Good location for all transportation needs if you do not have mobility issues. Close to downtown area activities. Clean facilities with mini fridge in rooms. Bed mattresses are very dated and used well but clean. We traveled during holiday dec-jan and there was no breakfast available but we did have use of kitchenette upstairs. Host was helpful with questions and...

Stayed at the Mingalar again with my Wife and her Mum (1st Visit) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We arrived earlier than anticipated and we were still allowed to check in at 11.15. The rooms were ideal and anyone wishing to stay in a lovely, clean and hospitable place I would definitely recommend this Guest House. Will see you again next...

I absolutely loved staying here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I arrived in Edinburgh on a early morning flight but Mingalar was kind enough to let me check in at 8am. Located nice and close to the city centre, but far enough away that I was able to see a different part of Edinburgh that I wouldn't...

We very much enjoyed our stay at Mingalar. The service was excellent and the location convenient to transit or even walking to the city, The breakfasts were fresh, with lots of choices and delicious. Chris' introduction to Edinburg session upon our arrival was informative and appreciated. thank you for helping to make our visit a very memorable one.

A clean and comfortable B&B close to the centre of Edinburgh, but far enough out to be away from the hustle and bustle. Attentive staff and a wonderful breakfast are on offer. The only downside for us would be that our room could have done with a bit of updating, which we appreciate is tricky in a building of this...

I was here for the 9th time and would stay there always again. Very nice and friendly host, cosy rooms and the best breakfast in Edinburgh! Clive and Myint Su are very helpful and it's always funny to chat with them in the morning. 😊

It is important to consider Mingalar House in the context of a European bed and breakfast, rather than an American hotel chain. It is in the middle of Edinburgh, with its rabbit-warren cobblestone streets and was built in the 1840's. Therefore, the interior largely reflects the room sizes and arrangements of that time. We stayed in Room 4 which is...

The staff and owner were by far the best feature in this guest house. They gave us a detailed description of the town and places to visit. Each morning, we received additional suggestions based on our "adventure style". This really was a tremendous help. The location was a big score. It was quiet and lovely with a beautiful old building...
