Detailed Reviews
Lovely welcome, quick check in. Car park situated around the back and cost ÂŁ15 for 24 hours. It's usually full but you can double park and leave your car keys at reception. Car parking bill is taken at checkout.
The bags were taken up to our room. There is a lift. The room was lovely. Very big, clean, lovely decor. We missed out on the welcome tray due to Covid restrictions and unless you ask specifically then there is no housekeeping either. I personally find that a big part of a hotel stay. Having the bed made, room cleaned, towels changed and tea tray replenished daily all make the stay special and relaxing. We were paying almost ÂŁ200 a night for B&B so you would expect a bit of luxury without having to make special requests. We had to ask for milk as the milk in the fridge was sour. This was quickly brought up to our room. Also had to ask for firmer pillows, the feather pillows are far too self, extra toilet roll, extra teabags during our stay. Not really what you expect from a hotel in this price bracket.
The hotel is very grand. Beautiful furnishings and decor throughout. A 24 hour bar is available
Breakfast was very disappointing. All table service which is understandable due to Covid restrictions. Toast is pre sliced supermarket type bread, I really expected freshly baked bread. Tiny amount of butter provided for the toast. The Full Scottish breakfast portion sizes were meagre for the price. Sausages were not a high quality product, lots of grisselly bits and no better than the average supermarket sausages. I expect a better quality product considering the breakfast (if paid for seperately) would cost ÂŁ19.95 ! We also like a strong cup of tea and the teabags were very weak.

Dear sandy111164, Many thanks for your feedback from your stay at The Bonham. I understand the issues you experienced are not something you would expect from a luxury hotel. Opening up with a number of Covid-19 restrictions can be difficult for us at times, certainly an adjustment we're all trying to get used to. I appreciate your comments, they help us better our service - Going forward we hope to not only be seen as a Covid safe place to stay but also a hotel that can achieve the same high standards as we had prior to the lockdown. I have also passed on your comments regarding breakfast service to our Head Chef. Thank you again. Kind regards, Douglas Campbell General Manager

We stayed for a couple of nights to enjoy a rather quiet Edinburgh in late October. The rooms and public areas are beautifully decorated with clearly no expense spared during refurbishment. We were very comfortable, which was very important to us as we spent more time in our room than we would ordinarily do due to the city being in partial lockdown and thus early closure of venues. The hotel is in a great location, close to the city centre yet tucked away in a peaceful, mainly residential area.
The staff are professional and friendly and took the appropriate measures to make us feel safe and secure during our stay.
The cooked breakfast is very nice. The continental however not good value for money with the fresh fruit salad comprising only of two types of tasteless melon with a couple of pieces of pineapple (on both mornings!) Any breakfast chef worth his metal would wholeheartedly agree so this is something that can, and should be, easily remedied as not at all befitting of a hotel that wants to consistently uphold the highest of standards.

On our arrival at the hotel we were warmly greeted & this friendliness & helpfulness was shown by all the staff throughout our stay.
The decor is wonderful - Georgian Town House elegance with 21st century conveniences. We had a very comfortable room on the 3rd floor with beautiful views across the Old Town towards Fife. Little touches like fresh milk in the fridge were much appreciated.
Our evening meal was faultless & wasnt rushed so we were able to soak up the lovely relaxed feel of the dining room & enjoy the artwork.
Can't praise the hotel enough & look forward to a return visit.

We have stayed at this lovely west end hotel many times before so we were delighted to see it reopen after lockdown. Hand sanitiser was readily available. Tables in restaurant and bar well spaced out. Rooms as luxurious as ever. Just some minor changes - e.g. cushions removed from bedrooms. Hand sanitiser, disinfecting wipes and single use toiletries available in rooms as well. Service and food excellent. We will definitely be visiting again.

We stayed here for four nights and it didn’t disappoint. The hotel is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a junior suite which was spacious and had everything you could want, coffee machine, kettle, water, milk, biscuits and hot chocolate. The bathroom was large with bath, separate shower, Arran Aromatics toiletries, dressing gowns and slippers. My only gripe was the lack of drawers and wardrobe space, my daughter hung up some of her clothes but otherwise we lived out of our suitcases.
The location is in a leafy green quiet area in the west end within walking distance to the centre. But it is a walk!

I have to be honest, when I booked my stay at The Bonham Hotel I had purely based it on a quick google search on location, parking and reasonable trip advisor reviews. The Bonham ticked all the boxes. I was staying over for a work event and would be alone, so I didn’t pay much attention to the other details.
The hotel from the outside is classically charming but not completely identifiable as a hotel and could be easily missed. From the inside it is a decadent delight, especially for those of you who enjoy the more traditional, stylish interior. That almost makes it sound boring but boring it is not! The collection of art is enough to make you want to visit. The owner is an avid collector of many beautiful things and he has chosen to adorn his hotel with a small part of his collection. The bar and restaurant areas looked warm, relaxing and I got the feeling I’d be right at home sitting there with some good banter and a wee dram. The staff I encountered were proactive, attentive, personable and obviously loved the building. The staff member who showed me to my room told me a bit about the history of the hotel, unprompted. I also spoke with a Staff member, who I think was the General Manager, and he took a real interest in answering my over-enthusiastic questions about the hotel and it’s features! My room was gorgeous, with a big windowed view over the Mary Poppins like rooftops of Edinburgh’s west end. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom is stylish, the bath is deep and the shower is powerful enough to clean you! I didn’t eat in the restaurant but the breakfast was top notch and I sat looking out of the window, wishing I was staying another night.

We recently visited as part of a wedding Party. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous, we stayed on the lower floor which was very quiet and easy access to reception and the restaurant and bar areas. there was a little noise when furniture was being set up in the rooms above us for special events but did not disturb us too much.
There was some very special touches in the room, fresh milk in the fridge, lovely large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel (which you could purchase for ÂŁ15 a bottle on your departure if required), bathrobes and slippers in room, tea of various sorts, instant coffee as well as ground coffee with a Cafetiere to make the coffee in, with both mugs and cups provided. It was little details like that that made the stay so special.
The wedding we attended was also very well organised and a credit to the staff for the fantastic service to make the wedding the special day it was.
I was travelling with my elderly parents and the staff were excellent with both of them, even when my Dad had an accident and cut his wrist. They cleaned and covered the injury and regularly asked if he was ok, which a very nice touch
Cannot wait to return to this hotel in August. We have visited quite a lot of hotels in our years of travelling but this one has gone to to the top of our list for Best hotel stays
Well done and thank you to all the hotel team.

Stayed at the Bonham for 5 nights, quiet location in Edinburgh’s west end, central enough for all the city has to offer.
Beautifully furnished hotel, quiet, comfortable charming ambiance . Staff are very friendly and engaging and nothing was to much trouble.
Beautifully furnished rooms with view overlooking Dean Village, very comfortable bed and pillows for a very good nights sleep.
Breakfast was excellent and tried several dishes and were all cooked and tasted superb with excellent service. Bar service excellent.
The hotel is a lovely place to relax in quiet, luxurious surroundings. Enjoyed a fantastic afternoon tea at £29 for two during August usually £50 for two, luxury and a discount can’t be bad.
In summary enjoyed my stay immensely relaxing luxurious hotel, excellent service from all staff throughout my stay, first class breakfast and beautiful furnished lounge areas to enjoy a drink after seeing everything Edinburgh has to offer in the day. They even give you an umbrella to use just in case there is a slight chance of rain.

We stayed here using one of the virgin experience vouchers, I paid for an upgrade to a junior suite. The upgrade was well worth the money. The entire hotel was extremely clean and tidy. The room was large and had a comfy seating area as too was the bed. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped and the waterfall shower was excellent. Unlike some hotels you can tell they have not skimmed on the quality of furniture. There was plenty of amenities in the bedroom even given the covid restrictions. We had breakfast in our room both mornings and choose the continental breakfast (I am assured by my husband that the smoked salmon was delicious) The staff were welcoming and very helpful. We didn’t ask for much but I got the feeling nothing would be too much trouble. We will definitely be returning.

We were looking for somewhere special to stay to celebrate a special occasion and The Bonham met that perfectly. The room was very spacious and comfortable with lots of personal touches like cake, biscuits, water and fresh milk in the fridge, coffee etc. It's in a great location, lots of on street parking although it is Edinburgh and parking is not cheap, we have a Blue Badge which gives free on street parking so nt a problem for us. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere in the hotel which makes for a very pleasant stay.
We would definitely recommend and can't wait to go back.

Sorry, I do not know. I advise you to contact the hotel. There are steps up to the entrance, but they may have some solution available for wheelchair users.
We brought our own, so unfortunately I do not know if they have them available for guests.
Sorry I don’t know as it was April we stayed. Just ask them to be sure.
When I was staying at the hotel there were a few children staying there, high chairs were available at breakfast as I heard people asking for them. Can’t comment on cots in rooms sorry. Hope this somewhat answers your question
