Mu husband and i have just returned from a 3 night stay in Edinburgh and were so happy we chose The Bonham as our place of residence in that time. The staff were amazing, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were upgraded into a fab suite as we were celebrating on our honeymoon. The room...

I've stayed in the Bonham a few times for work, after a colleague recommended it as an alternative to the other hotels we usually use - I never looked back!! For the price you get so much more than elsewhere. From the moment you walk in you feel relaxed, the decor is lovely and the staff polite and efficient. Rooms...

We booked for the Queens Garden Party in Jul 14. The room was nice, the staff were very efficient and friendly, and the location for the town centre is very good. The room was a little too warm being on the top floor, however this did not detract from the beautiful hotel.

Stayed several times, love the decor of the rooms. Have eaten in the restaurant, food is to die for and unbelievably well priced for the quality! I have also had afternoon tea here, and I can honestly say it is one of the best afternoon tea's I have had (and yes I have had a lot!). The staff always go...

We are not first timers in Edinburgh so have visited a few hotels nearby but this was the best so far. Great location to walk to Princess St and the Castle. Very quiet area with a couple of busy bars nearby. The room was spacious with a great view (at the rear on floor 2) tastefully decorated with a very...

The warmth of the elegant Victorian wood panelled dining room of this stylish boutique hotel mysteriously has a smooth, unruffled effect on the staff. Discreet and attentive service with the ability to anticipate your needs is the secret ingredient required to ensure a sublime, early morning dining experience. To poach an egg perfectly requires skill and my full Scottish breakfast...

Overall the hotel was very pretty with new and old charm. I rated my extremely cozy room an 8 out of a 10, with the mattress sealing the deal! After 3 months of travel, it was by far, the best mattress of my entire journey. We had a wee bit of problems with our TV cable going in & out,...

Having been to the Bonham several times for lunch, this was our first overnight stay and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. The quiet location is perfect for exploring the city on foot and the trams and buses are only a short walk away. We had a lovely large room at the top of the hotel (lift available) with wonderful...

We had booked into the Bonham for a 3 night stay in Edinburgh to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. On arrival the receptionist wished my mother a happy birthday and we were given a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. The room and public areas of the hotel are spacious and tastefully decorated and the small bar at the rear of...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
