I took my mum here for her birthday and we LOVED It. It is gorgeously decorated - it is new, clean, classic and stylish. The service was outstanding and all the staff were so kind and helpful. They suggested a number of delicious restaurants we visited over our long weekend and gave my mum a free glass of bubbly to...

The Bonham is very well located being in a very quiet Georgian square but within walking distance of Princes street and Modern galleries to the west. The reception and dinning areas are well decorated. The main staircases are impressive but rather empty of decoration. The room i had was large for a room described as "petite" although its a lottery...

Just stayed here for 2 nights and it was the best hotel we've stayed at in Edinburgh, so much so we signed up to a loyalty card & will revisit for our annual Fringe trip! The room was spacious, well laid out & a nice big bathroom. It was quite warm but you can get over that as the building...

Spent 2 nights here. Our room was downstairs overlooking the carpark! We had booked a 'petite double.' It WAS compact but had all you needed if just looking for a base while sight seeing. Very comfortable 5ft bed, 2 arm chairs, big flat screen tv, free wifi, wardrobe etc. The bathroom was lovely and spacious. Bath and shower (shower did...

Stayed over the first weekend of the Tattoo and Fringe Festival. Big rooms, amazingly comfortable beds with lovely linen, very quiet whilst only a 5 minute walk into the heart of the city. The staff were welcoming and helpful, good breakfasts and very reasonably priced for that time of year in Edinburgh. We will definitely be visiting again.

An amazing hotel, extremely well maintained with friendly & helpful staff. Very close to the city centre so everything is within walking distance. It is quite expensive but you get what you pay for, so well worth the money in my opinion.

The Bonham is located in a quiet area around a 10 minute walk from Haymarket. The hotel is very well looked after with high quality furnishings in the communal areas. The petite double we had had a beautiful view down to the shore. The room was starting to look a little dated, fresh decoration would be needed to bring it...

We throughly enjoyed our visit to the Bonham, the only down side was that we were only there overnight. Breakfast was good and the location was ideal, being so close to the city centre. I must comment on the excellent staff too who were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises

Have recently returned from Edinburgh, having stayed two nights at The Bonham. It is a lovely and unique hotel, which was smart, quietly situated and offered excellent service. When we arrived, were told that our room had been upgraded which was a lovely surprise. This put the icing on the cake, it was beautifully spacious and elegantly decorated. The staff...

The Bonhom is a wonderful hotel with breathtaking views of the city. They have a a very professional and helpful staff. Management was even kind enough to give us a free 1/2 bottle of wine, because it was our honeymoon. I would recommend it to anyone!

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
